I get £30. It's better than nothing and I'm grateful 🙏 usually get wine for Christmas with it.

Not a bean.

rubiconartist · 20/12/2024 06:31

I've worked in the public sector for so long I've forgotten what's it's like to get stuff like parties and bonuses.

We get some biscuits or chocolates from clients which is always welcome.

WeAllHaveWings · 20/12/2024 06:32

Previous job yes, 4%. This job no.

Significant Christmas bonuses are part of an overall annual salary package that is given at Christmas, not extra/free money. It is just as though your employer has done your Christmas saving for you (without any interest you would get from doing it yourself!). I don't feel I am missing out on anything because I don't get paid that way now.

Oblomov24 · 20/12/2024 06:37

Having audited many payrolls and done much payroll itself I think many companies just don't. The ones that do are in the minority.

Some give a very nice small gesture, £25, a hamper, an early finish on Christmas Eve, a pays Christmas lunch or party. Most don't.

I've only ever had 2 bonuses, one many years ago , and one this year. The old one of £250 which was paid as a net bonus, very nice gesture, means the employer also basically pays the tax and ni so the employee ends up with that amount in their pay packet.

This year I persuaded CEO to pay everyone a bigger bonus, and net, so we all got it in our bank, today. Very nice.

WinchSparkle80 · 20/12/2024 06:40

A hamper or christmas party.

Velvian · 20/12/2024 06:41

Not as such, but our April pay increase goes to the union for so long that the last 3 years we received it in December backdated, which is quite handy tbh.

Moonlightstars · 20/12/2024 06:41

I got a lovely box of chocolates from senior management.

Sunflowers321 · 20/12/2024 06:41

NHS here but one of our lovely consultants would buy us all a bottle of wine (selection of red or white). We don’t get anything now he’s left but our lovely team brings in biscuits / chocolates over the Christmas period anyway

Wolframandhart · 20/12/2024 06:42

A sausage roll.

Magicmushroomsauce · 20/12/2024 06:43

i got a £10k bonus. In fact it hit my account today!

Frenchyq25 · 20/12/2024 06:44

£500 of John Lewis vouchers

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 20/12/2024 06:44

18.5% of salary in January...could be up to 25% if company does well.

Frostycottagegarden · 20/12/2024 06:50

Mine got a lunch, £300 gross and a bottle of wine.

ExceededUsefulEconomicLife · 20/12/2024 06:59

I once had a job where I worked for the tightest humans known to man but every April we'd get £250 and every Christmas, specifically at the Christmas party they put on which must have cost a shit load, we all got two £50 notes. I was ecstatic with that. Since then every company has given £20-£50 in vouchers you can chose where you spend. This year we haven't had anything yet so assume it's not happening but we do get 10-20% in April so I can't bemoan. It's little things like this that really help you appreciate your workplace and feel appreciated.

For years we did get a bonus at Christmas.

Now been bought out by an aggressive US private equity organisation, so the bonus this year for those still there is your job, until they start that madness again next year.

The rate they are going, there'll be nobody left.

I hear you. I will never work for a business owned by a private equity company again. I had no idea, having only worked for shareholder owned or small individual companies, how awful these investment companies are. All about making the business look good on paper for selling on, and nothing about genuine growth, sustainability or ethics.

I've never had a bonus but I have always had jobs where there's an element of performance related pay. It has varied from 3% to 15%. Never paid out at Christmas, it's a financial year end thing.

Dandylione · 20/12/2024 07:46

I get a bonus in March - usually 25% but looks like we'll miss budget this year so will get a smaller amount not sure yet.

People not on the management bonus scheme in march get £400 in Christmas payroll.

Better to have it sooner and get the interest

sunshineandshowers40 · 20/12/2024 07:50

Nothing but I work for a charity.

Gingernaut · 20/12/2024 07:51

Our team of about 15 people received our bonus yesterday

We're so excited, we don't know what to do with ourselves

Do you get a bonus, if so how much?
RedRiverShore5 · 20/12/2024 07:56

I'm retired now but in my last job it was about 3-10% of salary, received in March/April time

Glitterybee · 20/12/2024 07:57

Absolutely nothing, not even a Christmas lunch or party!

we’re supposed to get a bonus in April which is 10% of our salary but in 12 years I’ve had it twice and it’s been nowhere near 10%

HelpMeGetThrough · 20/12/2024 07:58

@Gingernaut those drumsticks look good though!!!

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/12/2024 07:59

We don't have a Xmas bonus but do have an annual bonus scheme that falls in December. 9% annual salary this year.
