How many people do you buy presents for?

A few years back I decided to really streamline my Christmas present buying and now only buy for my kids and their grandparents (2).
Everyone else seems to have loads more people to buy for and I was just interested in how many people you buy presents for.
Just to add, I did make it known that I was streamlining the present buying. I would not want anyone to get me a present

Husband, Son, Dad, Sis + BIL and 3 nieces/nephews. Sil + bil, Aunties x 2, uncle x 1, cousin x1 + partner. 1 x cousins child, 1x token couple gift for bils parents. 1 x friends child. 5 x work team members who I manage. So about 25 plus token gifts for any other family I will see on the day. Quite a lot when I write it out. I do love Christmas and making a big deal of it though.

The adults all had a chat about 10 years ago and realised we hated the expense, environmentally unfriendliness and general consumer bollocks of Xmas. Instead we all chip in and do something fun together (either a show, a amusement park, or a holiday) for all the aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces ans grandparents.
So now I just buy for my kids and a small thing for DH. Much more fun, less stress, not skint in January and we do something memorable each year. The kids remember it.
Ask your nephews and nieces that you got them last year and 90% of them won't remember!

DH (1) DD (1), pets (4) DH’s mum (1), my aunt and uncle (2), nieces and nephews (6), friends (2) and their kids (2), friends (2), neighbour (1), work secret Santa (1).

Bloody hell, that’s 23, 19 if I don’t count the pets. No wonder I’m broke and frazzled.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 03/12/2024 22:56

Dd
My mum
My dad and his wife
6 nieces and nephews
2 friends
The dog 🙈😂

I don't buy for siblings or their spouses any more just the kids.

MysteriousUsername · 03/12/2024 22:57

My children

My DP and his grandchildren

One friend

I don't have any other family to buy for, though I send a card to my aunt.

I have other friends, but we don't do presents. The friend I do buy a present for has been my friend since we were teens, so we've always bought presents for each other, she's an only child, and my brother died young, so we don't really have loads of people buying us stuff, so we buy lots of little bits and funny bits for each other.

medianewbie · 03/12/2024 23:08

My parents are dead. No siblings. I just got Divorced (& his family cut contact). So, I buy for my two teenage children only. I'm a Carer so no work contacts. Token candles/wine for various friends.

Eight: DM, DH, DS, DS' girlfriend, sister, nephew, niece and my cleaner.

StrawberryWater · 03/12/2024 23:29

Husband, ds, a couple of sisters and my mum.

If husband wants to send gifts to his side well that's for him to sort lol.

HolyMoly24 · 03/12/2024 23:33

8 or 9: kids x2, mam and dad, nan and gramp, auntie, nephew, some years me and partner buy for each other and some years we mutually agree not to if finances a bit tight etc

Luckily my partner buys for his family so I don't need to worry about that

Sockmate123 · 03/12/2024 23:38

FloralMoon · 04/12/2024 00:03

On my side of the family we buy gifts for the children and the adults do a secret Santa. We always buy a gift for my Mum also.
On Hubby’s side we buy for the children and a small gift for his Mum & stepdad (this year we’ll do a hamper for them as a joint gift)

We are staying with some friends over Xmas period this year so will get a pressie for their little girl and also take a joint gift for them (probably a hamper)

Hubby and I also exchange gifts. And we have our baby’s first Xmas!

So total this year is gifts for 21 people (19 if you count the joint gifts).

NoGwenItsABoxingDayTrifle · 04/12/2024 00:16

2 kids
1 niece
1 Nephew
2 grandparents
Me and my husband buy presents for each other.
I have also got gifts for two of my friends.
I gave out Christmas cards today along with a box of home baked cakes and biscuits. I did one box each for 10 people and everyone seemed to really appreciate them.

TiredEyesToday · 04/12/2024 00:23

Proper gifts - DS, exDP (from DS), DM and her husband, 2x nieces, 2x godchildren

Token gift (usually something consumable like a cake or panettone, a bottle of wine or whatever- everyone gets the same)- DSis and her husband, maternal Grandfather, paternal Grandmother, aunts and their husbands x2.

Only do the token gifts because DM makes me feel obligated 🙄

HooMoo · 04/12/2024 00:23

One present. We do £50 secret Santa in our family.

Although this Christmas is first one with a baby so I’ll be buying her a few little bits too.

BigcatLittlecat · 04/12/2024 00:29

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 04/12/2024 00:30

6, up until 2021 it was nearly 30. Much easier now and we all prefer it!

Thunderpants88 · 04/12/2024 00:33

4 GPS
2 aunts
3 children
DH
9 nieces and nephews
6 teachers
1 postman
3 co workers

29 in total

Hummusanddipdip · 04/12/2024 00:35

Parents and inlaws (4)
Siblings and partners (3)
Grandparents (4)
Children (2)
Husband (1)
Secret Santa's/colleagues (5)

I also take ds to boots and take advantage of the 3 for 2 and let him pick a present for everyone. Sometimes amazing, occasionally a disaster 🤣

So 16 people in all, not masses and bar dh I'm not actually responsible for all gift buying, we tend to do it together

Oneblindmouse · 04/12/2024 00:39
  1. My DD (37). My DS (28). My DBIL (76) and DS's partner (25).
