If you have, can I see it, please? Or will you tell me about it?

I have a solitary tiny tree in here, a light up glass one on the table, and a perpetual Advent Calendar.

Nothing we have is shouting at me to go up & I haven't had time tp <squeeze> in making paper chains like usual!

Inspire me...please?!

I have a nice sign for the kitchen window

  • a White wooden sign ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ and fairy lights and an amaryllis plant

I’m mid way through. We have a big mantle over the range so I put stuff on there some paper fold out Christmas trees and a red reindeer and a red light up sign that spells JOY. Two windowsills - one will have red metal candle holders of various sizes and the other as one of those candle bridges. My mum had one and loved it and it reminds me of her.

There will be other stuff too I’m sure but we just got all the boxes down today and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all at the moment!

Big real tree in the corner by the sofa which has red/green throw and cushions. Wreath on the wooden cooker hood, tea towels oven gloves out fairy lights Christmas china and bits and bobs on the dresser, Christmas mugs on the go. Candle and berry centrepiece thing on the table.

Hudders3 · 01/12/2024 16:07

Eucalyptus garland that has fairy lights within it.
A huge heavy bowl that has a Christmas design around it is housing lots of quality street and Lindt chocolates.
Felt Christmas themed bunting hung across the pictures and mirror.
Lots of mulled wine mugs from Christmas markets are on top of the kitchen cabinets.
A poinsettia in a Christmas pot is on the window sill along with a nice merry christmas sign.

A nice Gonk that matches the colour theme of the kitchen is sat on the drinks fridge.
A wreath is on the kitchen door hanging from wreath hook that has a reindeer head on it.
It feels quite cosy with just those little bits added.

Christmas crockery, mugs and glasses. Lights around the window, Christmas hand wash and towels and t towels, Christmas wipeable table cloth for the breakfast bar, Christmas napkins in a Christmas jar. Another Christmas jar for pick n mix, Christmas tree salt and pepper pots and lights and mistletoe on the arch through to the lounge. Oh also Christmas floor mat at the fridge and washing machine.

It's the FIRST OF DECEMBER!
NO, I haven't.

Abra1t · 01/12/2024 16:11

Me neither. I’d be bored stiff with it all by Christmas if I had to look at it all month.

muddyford · 01/12/2024 16:11

I have my Advent calendar propped up. That's it till about 18 December. And no I'm not sharing a picture!

ByMerryKoala · 01/12/2024 16:12

Just a poinsettia and a few Christmas tea towels. I love Christmas as much as the next person but it's too busy a space to be tripping over decorations for us.

Pistolpunk · 01/12/2024 16:13

We have a 7ft pencil grey xmas tree in the kitchen and mugs etc.

dontforgetme · 01/12/2024 16:13

We have a tree, 2 shelves which are now Christmas decorated, a couple of Christmas ornaments on the window ledge and a Christmas shoe mat at the back door.

WalterdelaMare · 01/12/2024 16:13

It’s at least 2.5 weeks’ too early for us, but we do have a tree in the kitchen and I do a Christmas flower arrangement in there a week before.

Stompythedinosaur · 01/12/2024 16:14

Just a small tree and a few ornaments on the window sill. When I get round to it I'll hang a wreath on the door of the cabinet above the hob. I'd quite like a christmassy sign to prop behind the hob but haven't found one I like yet.

NO, I haven't.

Go away.

Peridot1 · 01/12/2024 16:22

I never normally decorate this early. It would usually be next weekend for me. No idea why I’ve decided to start early this year.

lucysmam · 01/12/2024 16:24

Those of you saying no...thanks so much! That's so very helpful 🙄

I like decorating (and may not have many Christmases left so want to enjoy it as much as I can!).

Everyone who has answered, thank you. I'll have a read shortly, I'm just going to put the garland on the fireplace 😊

@StrongandNorthern this is the Christmas board, for people who love Christmas.

@lucysmam Lots of videos on youtube of people decorating their entire houses for Christmas for inspiration.

Finnulafishface · 01/12/2024 16:30

I’ve gone all out this year - took a long time to place and get the positioning just right, but kitchen now looks very festive!

ShowOfHands · 01/12/2024 16:32

Not yet as we've just had upstairs plastered and the contents of the bedrooms are downstairs and it's chaos. Once we've decorated, I will...

Swap the tea towels for Christmas ones.
Swap all the mugs for Christmas ones.
Put festive jars and bunting on the Welsh dresser.
Put up some garlands/wreaths.

And we have a working steam train on the divide between the kitchen/dining room and I put a Father Christmas on it as the driver and drape lights round it.

SabreIsMyFave · 01/12/2024 16:32

@Finnulafishface You can see your reflection in the window on that pic. Just in case you didn't know! It's not massively identifying, but people who know you may recognise you if they see it. (If it doesn't bother you, cool. Smile But I just thought I'd flag it up for you.)

Nice display by the way! Grin

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 01/12/2024 16:32

What about doing window stickers? I love them, i also put a garland on the windowsill

ShowOfHands · 01/12/2024 16:37

My festive steam train!

Penguinsn · 01/12/2024 16:43

Not really but we have a Christmas musical biscuit tin, a Christmas biscuit tin, Christmas robin plates, rest of house have 2 Christmas trees, a Christmas penguin, Christmas robin, Christmas pudding light, Christmas gramophone (cat keeps asking for jingle bells and bouncing its tail), lots of robins on tree (mainly for cat who takes them all off), advent calendars.
