Beautiful doll or soft toy for teen

Every year since she was born I've put a different doll or soft toy peeking out of the top of DD's stocking. She's now an older teen and II'm looking for something really lovely for this year- any suggestions? Needs to be small enough for a normal stocking (bigger than something you'd actually wear but not a sack). We've done lots of Jellycat things before so ideally not that. Have also done Maileg mice so not that again but that's more the vibe I'm hoping for.

We tend to spend more on stockings than some do (and less under the tree) so doesn't need to be super-cheap.

Thank you!

Gotz dolls are beautiful. You can find them at mydollbestfriend or lilianadolls and Harrods have some too.

Coming back to add I got these for my DCs stockings last year. They are similar to Maileg which you're looking for, and very cute.

I had a small china doll as a late teen and loved it. Felt very grown up.

I used to do the same thing and I was just thinking the other day I miss choosing a doll for teenage DD's stocking. I think this year I might give her a ballerina tree ornament from Gisela Graham as she loves Christmas decorations. Just seen they have a lovely set of Wizard of Oz ornaments.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 15/11/2024 09:13

Ohhh you could go another way and get her a Russian doll set! You can find some beautiful vintage ones on eBay.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 15/11/2024 09:24

(and also lovely new ones if you'd rather not buy used)

Yes Moulin Roty are lovely, and quite similar in style to Maileg. But Maileg is just a smidge nicer IMO (biased since I am Danish 🇩🇰😉).

@WildFigs if you haven't seen the Maileg Nisser (pixies) it's worth a look as they are very grown up and not just for children/youngsters - I have a few that come to 'visit' me every year for Christmas. They come in big sizes right down to the mini size similar to the mice.

How about a soft Christmas Tree dec? That would be a lovely tradition to start as when she's moved out she can decorate her own tree with them and have lovely memories. That's what my mum did for my sister, and she has her own tree throughout advent that she can enjoy her decs on, even though we always spend Christmas week together at our parents'. Gisela Graham does lovely ones:

Thank you so much, everyone. I am saving this thread as I think it's given me ideas for about the next 10 years- really gorgeous suggestions, thank you!

Thanks to the person who suggested Etsy as I have found the perfect thing on there- not quite what I was imagining at the start of my search but a handmade crochet Chappell Roan. DD will love it!

I remember thinking Blythe dolls were really beautiful when I was a teenager, maybe one of those?

MrsSunshine2b · 15/11/2024 13:16

Some brilliant suggestions here but as a young teen I loved the Anne Geddes dolls.

Mine was going to be a jellycat dragon so I can't meet your "not jellycat" preference but look how adorable they are

https://jellycat.com/sage-dragon/

The small is out of stock on their website but I think they are beautiful.

In love. Ordered for me, as I’m sad and bereft and a cuddly dragon is EXACTLY what I need.

Thank you!

OkyDoke · 15/11/2024 16:40

BigStuffed are gorgeous... though possibly not stocking sized.

LilacLilyBird · 15/11/2024 16:40

Oooo Jellycat

LilacLilyBird · 15/11/2024 16:44

I bought this for teen DD a couple of years ago

Loads of teens have Jellycats

Jellycat are the only stuffed toys I'd give teen DD

She had steiff as a preteen and baby

Mynewnameis · 15/11/2024 16:56

Crochet is big here. Lots of makers sell on etsy

My niece loves these:

a bit alternative but really cute!

Oh gosh I love these, think I may need to get on for dd, which is a problem because I had finished shopping for her!

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/11/2024 20:35

Hello Kitty. Who doesn't love Hello Kitty? My 26 year old daughter has a few bits for her stocking as she's never grown out of it!
