Apologies if someone has already started a thread on this already, I couldn't see one. In the past I have often got some good ideas from this forum.

For me it is a double problem because it is DHs birthday a few days after Christmas so I have to get twice the inspiration! So far he has given me no ideas.

I have actually bought his birthday present already - a massive Lego set of NASA Artemis Launch.

Still no ideas for Christmas though.
In the past he has liked Joules Rugby Shirts but he has a few now. None of his favourite authors have a new book out and he has all the hiking equipment he needs at present.

He likes technology and puzzle solving. He is also getting in to model railways since I bought him Hornb Flying Scotsman last year.

I would be interested to hear what people are getting for their OHs

Tickets for something? I normally get DH theatre tickets plus a babysitter if I go with him.

QwestSprout · 09/11/2024 21:29

Electric guitar
Wet palette for painting miniatures
Books
Hot chocolate
Lego
Some bits and bobs for his stocking

Mine also has a birthday a few days after Christmas!

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/11/2024 21:30

I have a similar issue - partner’s b-day is just before Christmas. I have already got him an art book I know he wants. Not sure what else, so watching this thread..

Myattention · 09/11/2024 21:36

We are doing an extreme day trip to Copenhagen. Neither of us wants stuff so this is what we do now. Book an early flight out and a return back late. Sometimes an overnight. We’ve done Berlin, Venice, Paris and Dublin before.

TheBirdintheCave · 09/11/2024 21:36

I got him tickets to a concert of one of his favourite bands. It is THE hardest secret to sit on as I know he's going to be blown away.

I'm so, so excited to see his face on Christmas morning 😬😬

YorkshireIndie · 09/11/2024 22:23

Meant to be getting him a new coat but the amount sulking he is currently doing her will be lucky to get coal. 😵‍💫

YorkshireIndie · 09/11/2024 22:23

He not her 🙈

Heybearu · 09/11/2024 22:29

If he likes hiking Sussex outdoors do some interesting waterproof pouches and things...not essential but quite cool.

My boyfriend I'm at a bit of a loss with
He loves Korres stuff so I think their body oil and a new shower gel for like stocking type fillers.

I was thinking maybe a bracelet from Pig and Hen would be good.

But will be following for ideas 😊

AndThereSheGoes · 09/11/2024 22:38

@Myattention I've done a day trip to Rome a couple of times. Very easy to do if you live within an hour of an airport and flights are relatively cheap. I booked the secret colosseum tour for 12.30 and that was perfect. Plus St Peters, the Trevi fountain / pantheon/ Piazza Navarro afterwards.

Also has a birthday before Christmas . He's getting
A bust he saw in antique shop.
A staff t shirt from his favourite local pub plus their own soecual liquor they give you a shot of after a meal.
An Air Fryer ( don't ask).
AI generated book - it's very funny but very American (so references coffee/ breakfast yoga and other more US typical things).
Bits from his favourite team - calendar, mug, pens.
Mince pies ( his request for a sticking filler).

AndThereSheGoes · 09/11/2024 22:41

And something from Strauss clothing which is ( stupidly expensive) technical clothing which is his latest obsession.

Doubledded123 · 09/11/2024 22:44

Single
Cheaper
Buy myself double gifts, !

BrieHugger · 09/11/2024 22:54

I’ve got Greg Davies tickets for us for next year. Other than that nice coffee, and other foodie stuff, maybe a kitchen gadget, and a tshirt if I spot something he’ll love.

merryhouse · 09/11/2024 22:58

So far I've got some books - a set of vintage short story anthologies and the first in a historical adventure series

I quite often get him a Christmas Ale

Presumably yours has already read Artemis by Andy Weir?

If he likes puzzles, has he tried Tantrix? (the name comes from the fact that it uses the concept of knots, btw, nothing dodgy Grin) - or Rush Hour

British Library Rare Stories Collection - 5 books

Thank you some interesting ideas.

I am not sure about tickets for any sort of show. That is the sort of thing which he would go along to keep me company but wouldn't necessarily choose for himself.

I think an interesting T shirt is worth looking in to. He has a few that are quirky or related to books or TV so if I can find a good one that would be good I am sure.

One of the biggest hits I ever had was when I got him a digital mapping application. He uses it regularly and still loves it.

So far a bottle of beer.
He'll probably give me a list of music he wants

Rainbow321 · 11/11/2024 09:06

Nothing , we haven't got each other anything for a few years .
We both agree , that these days , most people don't have to wait for stuff they want , so we just have what we want when we want it .

isthesolution · 11/11/2024 09:08

I'm buying mine a 3 day break in a nice hotel. My mum is getting him 3 days of childcare.

Noshferatu · 11/11/2024 09:24

A jigsaw puzzle of Italy featuring wine varieties
gluten free liquorice allsorts
fancy whisky glass
a book or two

one of my sons loves all things Japanese so he’s got some t shirts from Tokyo Tiger, amazing designs and actually good quality

Fluffyc1ouds · 11/11/2024 09:51

I have no bloody idea so I'm hanging around here for inspiration. My DH is fantastic at buying me gifts and will shower me with perfect presents that I didn't even realise I wanted, so I feel the pressure to get his right.

My only idea is something from Le Creuset but he got a new pan last year so more kitchen stuff feels a bit naff. Annoyingly he said about wanting something the other day and I've already forgotten what it was. Useless!

peacejoypancakes · 11/11/2024 10:50

I’ve got a couple of running tops, some gloves and a reflective backpack for cycling to work as I noticed the zip has gone on his and the current one is black so not very safe in winter.

As that’s all quite boring I’m trying to think of something fun as well! Possibly a board game. He’s been obsessed with the Witcher game on the switch recently and I saw on Etsy you can buy the card game from it so maybe that.

Minihero · 11/11/2024 19:43

A jumper, fragrance set, book he asked for, pyjamas, Warhammer set. Very boring this year!

Onlymurders · 11/11/2024 21:12

A good bottle of whisky (listed in 'the book' on his bedside table); bottles of red and white I've sourced from the region of Italy we went to on holiday this summer; the usual socks, books, favourite chocolates etc, and Shed Seven tickets for open air gig next summer.

DD has bought him a personalised, signed copy of the new Shed Seven album and is going to be his gig buddy (her A levels will have finished 2 days earlier), they go to lots of gigs together.

DS will get him tickets for a sporting event for the two of them enjoy.

Basically his favourite things.. days out spent with the children, reading, wine, whisky and chocolates... and socks!

xyz111 · 11/11/2024 21:23

I've got him the Jaws Lego set.

Deadringer · 11/11/2024 21:27

A night away in a nice hotel with dinner and wine. I will get him something small for under the tree too.

Hedjwitch · 11/11/2024 21:32

Got mine tickets to see Joseph and The Technicolour Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond playing Pharaoh. Not my favourite musical but he likes it.
A jumper from Weirdfish. He has one already and it's his favourite so got a similar one on a different colour. Beyond that,I'm stumped.
