Reastie · 04/11/2024 18:52

Thanks @Travelcrazy for the title. It really tickled me!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

25% off 'winter warmers' on sainsburys Tu website. Selected lines but some decent stuff in the offer.

I haven't used them but have seen them recommended on here - there's a company called Migrateful who do in person and online live cookery classes taught by a refugee or migrant. Eg syrian vegetarian. You get the ingredient list beforehand so you can join in from home cooking along. Aimed at helping the teacher into work and to integrate. They do gift vouchers so she can choose her own class and what to cook. @Babynumberthreeee

With abbot Lyon I would say it’s very hit and miss. I have a necklace that I love and a chunky bracelet that I have had no problem with, however I bought a further 2 bracelets at the same time and the catches just won’t stay closed. I lost one of them and so emailed AL before the other one went the same way and the customer support was ok and eventually they sent out 2 more which immediately did the same thing. I messaged them immediately to let them know the new ones were also faulty and they just ignored me.
So I problem solved and superglued them on which I confess turned out to not be the ideal solution

@Chaispice @IlovePond the only things I have managed to get the JL discount to come off of are hairdryers/that type of thing

....Genius idea @friskybivalves .but ..how did you manage that ?
I just went onto Occado and can't see it in the list .

I used the search function and typed in apothecary...lots of the single items came up first but I scrolled on through until the £25 one appeared. Just hope it's the right thing!!

LED gaming headset standJust bought this led headset stand for my ds from argos, reduced to £5! Will make a great stocking filler.

Amazonmulu · 08/11/2024 07:27

Does anyone know when the next 25% off event for TU is? There's a couple of things in the Christmas range I want but seem quite over priced...

mum2three48 · 08/11/2024 07:31

Clarins have 15% off their men's mini gifts and MOVEMBER adds another men's gift. You also get to pick 3 free samples, but unfortunately it's £3.95 delivery. They are nice little stocking fillers. https://www.clarins.co.uk/christmas-gift-sets-1/?pmin=0.00&pmax=25.00&utmsource=adobe&utmmedium=emailnewsletter&utmcampaign=CRMUKClarinsChristmasStockingFillersLowValue08112024Emailing&utmterm=online&hccid=9fda8a4ed968a52744b7e2db2a2a503a4d3ca41d8edb072487e14c69b57ca06b

Thanks so much for this. I've managed to get one for my ds. It's so hard to find little extras for him so this is perfect.

bluestripecar · 08/11/2024 08:09

I love these threads, they’re so helpful.

My Pandora members get free standard delivery this weekend.

Has anybody ever seen free delivery on the TP toys website? I’m in the market for one of their climbing frames but don’t want to spend £19.99 on delivery.

Unihorn · 08/11/2024 08:19

Bit more of a niche request this morning, for a heated filet/body warmer if anyone has seen any good deals or places to look. Lots available online but slightly concerned ok safety for some!

Stowickthevast · 08/11/2024 08:25

Has anyone got any ideas for a 14 year old boy who's just getting into clothes and grooming? Budget up to £50. Thanks!

IlovePond · 08/11/2024 08:28

Thanks for the heads up re:Clarins @mum2three48

I am tempted to order a bit for DH, (even though he has zero interest in skincare😹)

I do find Clarins samples with purchase to be a generous size, btw, so gifts for DH and a little something for me too!

You can get the postage down to £2.95 if you select Yodel as the shipping option.

mumonthehill · 08/11/2024 08:29

I just bought the clarins deal. Nice stocking fillers and free gift as well. Free samples for me!!!!

rrrrrreatt · 08/11/2024 08:35

Dreamingofwalden · 07/11/2024 23:14

I did not know that. Thanks!

I have visited the bricks and mortar outlet store whilst in Cornwall. My DSiL works for them and my best every bargain was when she got me two of their coats for £10 at a staff sale.

Wow that’s an absolute steal!! I keep looking at their coats because I ripped my old Joules one doing DIY - they do such nice ones.

I grew up in South Cornwall and remember thinking it was for oldies when my mum dragged me round as a teenager - 20 years later I’m an oldie 🤣

Thank you so much! I have hoovered this one up. I did spot that you can shave an extra £1 off delivery if you are prepared to put your faith in Yodel as an option which offered it at £2.95 for me. Potentially high risk strategy however...

Celtic and Co have sent me what seems a really grumpy and unfestive 10% off with WN24HT. I mean...I offer it up in the spirit of the thread if anyone has to buy fleece items urgently, but can't think it's the best bargain out there for anything woolly or sheepy!

friskybivalves · 08/11/2024 08:44

Oh and another code as the postman has just been. 15% off at OKA for posh lamps, vases, napkins and general frippery. NOV24HI

This ice cream maker has a 45% off - it is a compressor one so no overnight freezing necessary :)

Until 5 minutes ago I didn't know I desperately needed one of these

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/11/2024 09:01

On the Clarins ... also a bit of cashback via Top Cashback but may not track with a code but always worth a punt
