What does your family leave for Santa?

Just a bit of light-heartedness

Do you leave the usual milk and cookies? Or do you opt for something a little more interesting different for the big man and his reindeers?

OP posts:

Whisky and some tablet for Santa and a carrot for the reindeers

IggyAce · 23/10/2024 15:15

Cookies/cupcake with a glass of whiskey and a carrot for Rudolph.

Needanewname42 · 23/10/2024 15:19

Whatever the kids decide Santa 🎅 would want. Usually juice his and biscuits depends what they find in the fridge.

But ALL nine reindeer need a carrot 🥕 so I need to have a bag of them.

Started with my oldest when he was still a believer. And he loves doing it with his little brother.

Sherry and a mine pie for Father Christmas and a carrot for the reindeer to share.

SkeletonBatsflyatnight · 23/10/2024 15:46

A pint of Guinness with a shot of whiskey plus multiple homemade sugar cookies decorated with melting snowmen for Father Christmas and carrots for the reindeer.

So far the fact that Father Christmas and Daddy share the same drink of choice has gone un-remarked on!

BareBelliedSneetch · 23/10/2024 15:48

A mince pie, some ginger wine and one carrot for all reindeer to share between them 😂

EternallyIrked · 23/10/2024 15:51

It used to be milk and some biscuits for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph.
Now the kids are teenagers, its a cider for Mrs Mammy Clause and a Desperado beer for Daddy Clause along with some crisps 😂

Fontainebleau007 · 23/10/2024 15:58

A beer, mince pie and small carrots for the reindeers (not just Rudolph!)

DappledThings · 23/10/2024 15:58

Sherry or whiskey and a mince pie for Father Christmas. A carrot for the reindeer. Milk and cookies is an American thing isn't it? Definitely not traditional in my book.

MrsSunshine2b · 23/10/2024 15:59

I'm usually able to pinpoint with accuracy exactly what Santa fancies for a late night snack on Xmas Eve and direct the children accordingly. Rudolph always gets a carrot, which he takes one bite of and then leaves (ungrateful beast) and we sprinkle eco-friendly "reindeer food" in the garden. And we don't have a chimney, so we leave a magical key on the doorstep.

Flubadubba · 23/10/2024 16:09

Tequila, a carrot and something sweet. The tequila started during lockdown when we didn't have anything else in because we hadn't expected to be home for christmas 😆

jocktamsonsbairn · 23/10/2024 16:14

Large Baileys. A red apple and some carrots.

Glad we aren't the only people who have more than one carrot.

flea101 · 23/10/2024 16:18

Lemonade and a biscuit!!! With some veg for Rudolph. Lemonade because my son used to be dairy intolerant so we didn't have any milk in, then he said Santa couldn't drive the sleigh if he had an alcoholic drink!

Singleandproud · 23/10/2024 16:20

Milk, mince pie and a carrot when DD was small.

She's a teen now and 'knows' so we still put out the milk, mince pie and carrot but also a Mr Kipling apple pie in the early evening (DD doesn't like mince pies) and then before we go to bed we eat them, as there are no small children in our house.

Incakewetrust · 23/10/2024 16:22

Glass of milk and a mince pie for Santa and carrot and a bowl of water for Rudolph

housethatbuiltme · 23/10/2024 17:40

Nothing, we usually forget. Although Santa always seems to 'find' a beer in the fridge or DH does to get through building shit lol.

We put angel delight out for the gonk though.

MrsForgetalot · 23/10/2024 18:07

We always put out milk and “cookies” thanks to American tv. I wouldn’t leave him anything if it was up to me as he’s a messy eater and leaves crumbs and milk rings.

PurBal · 23/10/2024 18:10

Port or red wine and a mince pie. And a carrot for rudolf.

GettingStuffed · 23/10/2024 18:18

When I was little it was sherry and a mince pie, when my kids were small it was whatever DH wanted to drink. My grandchildren do the same thing as we did but with a carrot for the reindeer.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 23/10/2024 18:19

In our house we tend to leave Father Christmas, a glass of Baileys, a mince pie and some carrots for the reindeers.

Tarkan · 23/10/2024 18:21

Shortbread, a mince pie and a can of Tennents for Santa. Carrot and water for Rudolf. My "kids" are 20 and 16 and we still do it. Grin

Bestfootfwd · 23/10/2024 18:45

Whisky and a mince pie, on the hearth, and a carrot, outside the back door, for Rudolph.

TheWorstWeek · 23/10/2024 18:56

Whatever Christmas baking we made on the 23rd , usually a biscuit, and a glass of milk. Carrot for the reindeer too of course! (DH loves taking a big bite out of one - not 🤣)

Thecomfortador · 23/10/2024 19:13

One year when ds was about 4, he insisted on leaving a whole packet of bread sticks, quite a few biscuits and multiple mince pies. Next morning he came down and said "eh? Santa didn't eat his tea?" As I just couldn't quite manage a whole packet of bread sticks so they were left on the plate and much of the rest of the offerings went back in the packets.
