Just a bit of light-heartedness

Do you leave the usual milk and cookies? Or do you opt for something a little more interesting different for the big man and his reindeers?

Diet Coke, a carrot, mince pie and a baked by the children offering.

AdaColeman · 23/10/2024 19:28

A glass of sherry, a mince pie and some chocolate coins for Father Christmas, and carrots for the reindeer. I'm a bit shocked that some put out a glass of milk.

NotUnderMyUmbrella · 23/10/2024 19:30

A mince pie (generally homemade), a bottle of ale, with glass and bottle opener carefully placed alongside, and a carrot for the reindeer.

The mince pie and beer are polished off, but the carrot just has a bite taken out of it.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/10/2024 19:32

A cold beer and one of my mom’s brilliant mince pies of course. Because I’m not an animal. 😬

ShortColdandGrey · 23/10/2024 19:33

Carrot, cookie, and Irn Bru.

SlightUnivallateHillfort · 23/10/2024 19:37

I have no kids, but when I was small half a century ago it was always a mince pie and glass of sherry. I think that small drop of Bristol Cream was what got my mum through the stress of trying to make stockings magically appear in our rooms as we slept!

Shergill15 · 23/10/2024 19:40

Homemade mince pie, glass of Baileys and a carrot for Rudolph 😀

Uricon2 · 23/10/2024 19:48

We used to leave a sherry and a mince pie until one year we got a note saying that Santa preferred Scotch.

Dad like Scotch Grin Unrelated, probably.

Sherry and a mine pie for Father Christmas and a carrot for the reindeer to share.

That's exactly what we put out when I was kid! Xmas Grin We also put out a bowl of water for the reindeer's in case they were thirsty from all that flying.

Needanewname42 · 23/10/2024 22:02

Bowl of water is cute. Love it.

custardcreamsies · 23/10/2024 22:08

It’s just DH and I at the minute but I leave out milk, a mince pie, a carrot and a bowl of water. I know we don’t have any children but I’d feel really odd going to bed on Christmas Eve and not leaving something out, DH always makes sure it’s been eaten by the morning.

EveryDayisFriday · 23/10/2024 22:11

Milk, mince pie and carrot for reindeer (guinea pig usually gets to enjoy it though).

whiteroseredrose · 23/10/2024 22:14

Sherry and a mince pie for father Christmas, and a carrot for Rudolph.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 23/10/2024 22:28

He's got quite the taste for my Baileys, apparently.

StressedQueen · 23/10/2024 23:01

It's only really for my 6 year old now that the rest of my children are older 😣We do the basic cookies on a plate with a glass of milk and then a bowl of carrots in our reindeer bowl that isn't allowed to be used all year until Christmas Eve apparently 😁

Since she's been 3, DD has also started insisting that a whole pitcher jug of water needs to be left out with 8 bowls for each of the reindeers to drink from. I don't know where she gets the ideas but it is a struggle making it look believable!!

@Thecomfortador That's adorable and made me smile

Snugglemonkey · 23/10/2024 23:30

Whiskey and mince pie for santa. Carrots for reindeer.

rainbowlou · 23/10/2024 23:37

Now mine are older and they are just humouring me we leave a nice glass of wine with a mince pie but Santa doesn’t seem to complain 😊

SophiaSW1 · 24/10/2024 00:23

Sherry, mince pie and a carrot

caringcarer · 24/10/2024 01:56

A bottle of Prosecco because Santa gets fed up of milk. Some chocolates and a carrot for Rudolph.

LemonTurdCart · 24/10/2024 17:47

Single malt whisky and a mince pie. When I was a child Santa used to have a Bacardi and coke

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 24/10/2024 22:54

always a coke, he must get so bored with just milk all the time… used to put a can out, then replace it with the empty can I’d drunk earlier, either a mince pie or cookies depending on what the kids wanted…
and rabbit mix for the reindeer 😂

Grumpysawus · 24/10/2024 22:58

We leave a Curly Wurly for Rudolph because it’s his favourite. A carrot for the other reindeers & a bowl of water

And a glass of whatever one of us is drinking for FC and a Lidl stollen bite if I haven't eaten them all

eta DC range from 23 to 15 but we have to it apparently ‘just in case’ 🤣

AgainandagainandagainSS · 24/10/2024 23:01

Mince pie and glass of sherry for Santa. A carrot and a dog biscuit for the reindeer (yep my Mum’s labrador counts as a child and he joins in with the Santa story too).

Kibble29 · 24/10/2024 23:07

Mummy Santa has a mince pie and a glass of milk. A carrot for the reindeer is essential too, if course. However, with my LO becoming more aware of the Christmas concept, I think he’ll leave Santa whatever his favourite snack is at the time. Could be Jaffa Cakes, could be ice cream. There’ll be a Fruit Shoot in there too, I bet.

StillSeekingResponsibleAdult · 24/10/2024 23:11

Glass of wine and cheesy biscuits, Santa doesn't like mince pies in our house. Normally a carrot, but pretty certain we've improvised with other fruit and veg when no carrots around!
