Posh adult "stocking" presents

I need some posh small presents. 4 for men and 4 for women. Maybe 10/15 quid each? I want them to be a bit out of the ordinary-and something they won't want to recycle immediately. The recipients are between 23 and 28.Any ideas?

I've been wondering this! My 9 year old loves them and spent a long time deliberating between a croissant bag and a coffee cup bag (both very cute!), but it wouldn't have occurred to me that it would be a welcome gift for my cousins in their 20s!

My 18 year old and her friends are totally obsessed with Jellycats!

@LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain In the very unlikely event that anyone is a fan of Rosemary Sutcliff's The Armourer's House, you could give them a potted scarlet amaryllis that will emerge over weeks,"
The two that are my children most definitely are fans- or were! I was looking for Christmas books too..🎖️🥰

Last year I bought Tweezerman tweezers for the adult stockings. Also Heattech Fair Isle socks from Uniqlo.

My eldest daughter used to LOVE the 'Sophie' books when she was young. A couple of Christmases ago I gave her the collected edition of Sophie books as a joke gift. They are now prominently displayed on her bookcase. She's 34...

Ha ha I got these for my early 20s/teens last year and they never used them and thought they were stupid. I only mention it because like you I thought they looked brilliant! Hopefully your ds will like it.

Just remembered that I also got them for my lot and now need to check if they ever used them...somehow I think not 😆

It just goes to show how subjective taste is - nearly everything on here would be straight to the charity shop/food bank if it was given to me. Perhaps not stamps or a Costa card but just about everything else.

one thing I have bought in the past that has been a big hit are personalised drinks glasses. They aren't expensive and are very adaptable, if they are a beer drinker you buy a beer glass, champagne or Prosecco = a flute. If they don't drink alcohol you can buy latte/hot chocolate or water glasses.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114125692132?_skw=personalised+champagne+flutes&var=414383331899&itmmeta=01JAZKCM6CM3SDMBF1464SNG28&hash=item1a926bdce4:g:MZAAAOSwQxhjGNV3&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAABAHoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKkpMaSgEgEj%2FG0CUI9hfYHnVB%2F%2BO4lCMi5b8PfWiTJf93QdbUa8sRjeUnaHntMqhukqeKvWKPIRaUghOhBcjBa5QXhFkVXsZ1mpxayi7W0Zp890%2B9FlxYsB%2FbTnPRIzas5wmooRuTumFcpbhWJDte4d3IJSiJTHs%2Fm4KmU5FOyXbGU1%2BbJMr%2FD10s%2FJ4vV7ar54rP05L2R6pUTtD%2FINABkUbMsQ8pPyV9Ea6NRc498PO8--E7a4bNA8gNmDaYRn0%2Bq6LALeX87ND%2FyHiSOS5koKZYVdVnRQk4kKt%2FFDQBsXY%2FnaEUMK47wNthmZ3IU7%2FMg%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6TDsvPXZA

This company are very helpful (I'm not employed by them - honest).

Just no…why on earth would you want a personalised glass.

Where gifts on this thread have an amazon link, people can search for alternative/independent suppliers of the same thing!

I don't have detecting antenna...just had versions of this conversation in real life with gift-buyers/gift-givers. Whose stocking filler presents to me have included a fancy notebook, and cosmetics made by a very local company. I haven't used the notebook but the cosmetics are excellent.

Small local businesses usually sell on Amazon these days as well, there are separate sections for handmade.

Even my local 1 person brownie company is on there.

Yes it's nice to buy from them direct so they don't have the Amazon fees, but when it comes to presents Amazon will make sure they get them out sooner so their reputation isn't dinged. We bought 2 things from the same company without realising, one via Amazon and one via their own website, and the Amazon one arrived much sooner.

This is excellent information to know! I'll get dd to choose presents for the older ones!

Getonwitit · 25/10/2024 17:58

Rington's tea and biscuits are a wonderful gift.

pizzapizzadaddio · 25/10/2024 18:27

So many good suggestions. And @Blingismything please feel free to spend christmas at mine! Uniqlo socks is my love language

I’d add: fancy balsamic vinegar (appreciate olive oil is so £££ now!) from a local deli and the almond soap/shower oil from l’occitane

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 25/10/2024 18:57

re: Amazon @yeaitsmeagain I shan't revert to this on such a lovely thread, but it's not only the seller fees, it's also the worker conditions...I don't mind waiting a day or two and not dealing with a company that has people dropping dead!

Thebellofstclements · 25/10/2024 19:07

Please don't buy soap as a gift, it is completely unappreciated and totally overrated. Smart shower gel for men usually appreciated though.

TK Maxx have 400ml le crueset mugs in loads of colours for £9.99.

Are they real or made for TK Maxx ones - it may not matter but I remember one of those Channel 5 documentaries and how to tell if they were real brands and I am sure Le Crueset made stuff specially for TK Maxx , cheaper stuff.

Far more eco friendly than shower gel

Personally I love a bar of fancy soap. I don't use shower gel at all.

Newposter180 · 25/10/2024 19:22

I use these all the time too. Champagne stoppers also useful and can get from Harvey Nichols/Fortnums/Le Creuset (or Asda!)

Newposter180 · 25/10/2024 19:23

Nkuku also have nice bottle stoppers and other bits

agreed, these are absolutely vile and would be straight in a charity shop!

These are lovely-I've given a lot of her stuff in the past. The bigger pouches are out of this thread's price range, but they are lovely too.

I use their coin purse daily! Have put a discount link on the referrals thread

These relaxation candles are a really cute gift.

Personalised glassware is so 18th century naval family; why would you, unless you want to age into a Jane Austen novel genealogy.

I've just remembered being given a fancy charity shop glass in my university days and loving it. Not personalised.

Slimmermama · 25/10/2024 20:04

One Christmas I bought each member of the family an A5 notebook with leather effect cover and had each personalised with their name and a nice pen. £12 each.
