Posh adult "stocking" presents

I need some posh small presents. 4 for men and 4 for women. Maybe 10/15 quid each? I want them to be a bit out of the ordinary-and something they won't want to recycle immediately. The recipients are between 23 and 28.Any ideas?

@Newposter180 I'm occasionally terrified by teens to early 30s people reminding me so very much of my late aunt

One if my dearly beloved colleagues is some 20 years younger than me yet we get on well due to shared love of Middle Aged Lady Things.

am I the only one - I meant to add - these things are lovely but utterly wasted on me.

Nope you're not. Fortunately the only people that now give me an actual present is Dh and Dd.
I don't think I'm fussy, I just don't really like extraneous stuff, toiletries or tiny candles. I'd rather have nothing than something I don't want and most of the stuff people have mentioned in here would just be a waste. I'm not bothered by chocolate, definitely wouldn't want bedsocks or wrist warmers (WTAF).
I genuinely would prefer a couple of rolls of tin foil and a book of stamps to most "gift items". At least they're useful and at the current prices a book of stamps is quite a luxury fir a letter-writer !
if you know me well, i'm easy to buy for but if you don't I'd rather just have the generic bottle of plonk.

Tom's Trunks medium is a size 8 and XXL is a size 14. Are these made for ants?

Yes they definitely have some work to do on inclusive sizing. I’d size up too because they run small.

Bloody hell this thread is full of glorious things that I want to add to my list for my errr....self! 😂

Excellent thread, and to contribute to it, I love the Charbonnel Et Walker pink champagne truffles, my absolute favourite treat. £15.99 on Amazon.

Wentworth Puzzles Christmas crackers - the puzzles are very high quality and there are a number of different Christmas designs.

I.ve done these before. Very sweet.

Turtle Doves cashmere fingerless gloves although they are 18.

they're SO soft! and I love gauntlets over proper gloves for comfort.
and they very often have a deal on them if you're happy to pick a colour (eg. greens, reds, blues, pinks or just black) instead of a specific shade of a colour. and you can put in a note asking for eg. prefer darker greens to lights.
I love mine. they're so soft, warm and comfortable.

CrowleyKitten · 25/10/2024 00:40

also, if anyone likes being a bit arty with their eyeshadow. I recently LOST my favourite concealer brush.
I NEVER wear concealer (except for occasionally under eyeshadow to get the colours to really sing out if I'm doing something bright, especially if I'm using yellows or paler colours)
I LOST MY CONCEALER BRUSH. I got a replacement today. it's not AS good, but it's better than all the other brushes I can find. it's my favourite thing for eyeshadows. it applies it precisely, then it can blend it, it can be used for eyelining, the shape and stiffness is PERFECT for just about every eye make up task except mascara. it's always been my go to eyeshadow brush. I hope it shows up again soon.

This is close to my age group. How about:

Le Creuset mug in each of their favourite colours
A tub of hot chocolate from Whittards each
A small Jellycat of their interests/fave food/animal etc.
A Bath and Body Works or Molton Brown shower gel.
L’Occitane lipbalm

Not to toot my own horn, but I’d be so pleased to receive any of these. Though, you know the recipients better than us!

Hope this helps a little

Jellycats are pretty cute but also probably the very definition of “stuff” - assuming no adult has stuffed toys out on display, what do you do with them?!

Ha ha I got these for my early 20s/teens last year and they never used them and thought they were stupid. I only mention it because like you I thought they looked brilliant! Hopefully your ds will like it.

Oh don't worry, I'll find a use for it if he doesn't like it : )

I have a daughter too, only bought one just in case!

I’d avoid obvious high st brands and mainly fill it wit essentials from smaller brands or very luxe brands

DHC is an amazing Japanese brand! Love the Lip Cream, also the smaller size of Deep Cleansing Oil is within budget and is unisex/any skin type.

Other ideas: nail polish in either a pale pink or deep burgundy; the multi-tool pen that Ant & Dec love; boozy crackers (esp. Fevertree)

CurlewKate · 25/10/2024 09:31

@Newposter180 I reckon an adult is allowed one childhood soft toy. One. One suggests healthy attachments. More? Not so much!

I've been wondering this! My 9 year old loves them and spent a long time deliberating between a croissant bag and a coffee cup bag (both very cute!), but it wouldn't have occurred to me that it would be a welcome gift for my cousins in their 20s!

It looks like it would take up a lot of room in a kitchen cupboard

Maybe I’m just child-like 😊 My friend and I have a marshmallow each (they come as a pair)

I'm not completely anti soft toy! I am a bit anti 30 quid soft toys....

In the very unlikely event that anyone is a fan of Rosemary Sutcliff's The Armourer's House, you could give them a potted scarlet amaryllis that will emerge over weeks, or a ship in a bottle. Or if they like children's literature despite their advanced years, a copy of The Armourer's House. It's such a Christmas book. (Do they have favourite books or shows or games? Maybe something associated with those? Are they into cosplay or comic con or similar?)
