Looking for some inspiration for my 2 and a half year old for Christmas.

Let me know what you are getting yours!

I have so far gotten mine

  • Tonie Box
  • playdoh tubs
  • Book of bedtime stories
  • Melissa and Doug dinosaur set
  • Magnatiles

DS will be 3 in Jan so his are always a mix of birthday and Christmas presents.

We got him a Tonie box, Magnatiles, the balance beam from the Lidl wooden toy event, I did have stepping stones on his list but I think the balance beam will suffice. I got some learn to write/ABC books, he will get colouring bits, I think my mum has got him some puzzles and we are going to take him to see a kids Christmas show at the theatre too. Boring necessities like pyjamas too 😂

PigeonPigPie · 21/10/2024 09:59

Duplo playground and car
Remote control tractor
Stick man book and toy
Dress up bits
Wooden coffee machine and pastries

Olika · 21/10/2024 10:17

My DD is same age and I am thinking a book, playdoh and then duplos (she has lots already though) or similar that you can stack/build with.

Changeyourfuckingcar · 21/10/2024 10:26

DS is three in November and we’ve got him (for both Christmas and birthday, we need to decide of what for which version!) two pairs of new overalls for on the farm (they’re just like his dad’s, he’ll be thrilled!), several books, a little camera that prints photos instantly, a little wheelbarrow, some new crocs, a new riding hat silk, a Zog puzzle and a Britains tractor for his collection. I saw in the Lidl booklet that they’re a wee wooden chainsaw next week (or the one after, can’t remember) and I’d love to get him that, he’s obsessed with chopping at the garden hedges 🤣
DH has a little petrol quad bike that he bought cheap ages ago and has been doing up… I’m loathe to give that to DS just yet, it might prove a bit too quick! 😂

OdeToBarney · 21/10/2024 10:28

Following because I am clueless this year!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 21/10/2024 10:47

Monster trucks and Tonie stories.

MonteStory · 21/10/2024 10:59

She has older siblings so i doubt this list is particularly inspiring but here goes

Magnatiles
doll
dress up stuff
stabilo crayon pencils
bluey figures
flower building toy
bags

BrotherRooster · 21/10/2024 11:14

Interested to see Magnatiles are on alot of lists! We played with them at a friends house and they were great fun - also something her younger uncles can play with her on Christmas Day I thought!

good idea on the read/write books. I must look for something like that.

I was tempted to get more duplo but it’s so bulky and I got two sets some of that last year.

Love the idea of the camera that prints instant pics - do you have a link @Changeyourfuckingcar

Balance bike

Changeyourfuckingcar · 21/10/2024 11:25

It’s this one, https://amzn.eu/d/dvSPqRm , I’m hoping it’s good! I asked on my instagram and this was one of the most recommended, plus I’ve seen it recommended by a couple of ‘influencer’ types that I follow… so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 I didn’t want one that has games and editing features or anything like that, just personal preference, so that ruled out the obvious choices (vtech etc)

BrotherRooster · 21/10/2024 13:08

Thanks @Changeyourfuckingcar It looks great.

@MiddleAgedDread balance bike is a great idea. I had one on my list but a friends child has just grown out of theirs and asking for a new one so we will get that from them after Santa has been!

i think they’re a good age to get going on one.

PheasantPlucker24 · 21/10/2024 13:18

So far this is my list for her:

Pipe cleaners and beads for threading
Magnetic sorting puzzle
Initial sweatshirt
Marbles
Play doh
Lovevery books
Steam train brio train (makes actual steam)
Sticker Wow Melissa and doug

She’s third born so I feel like we already have everything! Can’t think of a ‘big’ present for her. But we’re having Christmas alone at home too so I’m wanting quantity as well over size or quality tbh!

TripleCarber · 21/10/2024 13:24

we have an older dc so ds has lots of the usual toys (duplo, magnatiles, train tracks, small world toys etc)

However his favourite activity at his nursery is just a section of drain pipe fixed to a fence that he can roll toy cars down, so we’ve decided to re-create that at home in our garden.

he’s also got a little mud kitchen, pjs, some books, a robot dinosaur, playdoh ice cream set and some peppa pig figures/play sets that I got second hand to add to the ones he already has.

PheasantPlucker24 · 21/10/2024 13:24

@MonteStory ’flower building toy’ Just the ticket for DD, not seen before! Thanks!

What are you getting your toddler/ 2-3 year olds?
KeepSmiling89 · 21/10/2024 13:28

My DD will be 3 at the end of November so her Christmas/Birthday presents are:

Amazon Kindle (a kids one...can't remember which kind exactly)
More wooden food to go with her wooden till set and toy kitchen
Toy furniture to go with her little toy family
Couple of books
Doctor's set

Thinking of getting her a marble run actually after seeing ideas on here!

waryandbored · 21/10/2024 13:32

3rd birthday in Jan so this is a mix of both:

magnatiles
wooden shop from Aldi
various wooden food bits
tonies
books
puzzle
scissors

BrotherRooster · 21/10/2024 13:33

@PheasantPlucker24 I have the opposite problem to you as new arrival on the way next year and my toddler is the eldest so I’m trying to think ahead to toys that I won’t need to be careful with around a baby. I think your ideas sound great. Kids love marbles and I like the initial sweatshirt idea too.

BrotherRooster · 21/10/2024 13:33

@waryandbored you’re reminded me I wanted to get kids scissors! Thanks!

MidnightPatrol · 21/10/2024 13:34

Hobby horse
Duplo
Some new Tonies
Some more difficult jigsaws

Ill also a stocking with various things for them to unwrap like pyjamad, a light up bouncy ball, some stickers etc.

showmethegin · 21/10/2024 13:37

DS will be 2 and a half at Christmas.

Wooden blocks
Wooden toast thing to go with his kitchen
Wooden table top spanner, hammer type toy
Yoto box
A shark monster truck (very specific request!)

My parents are getting him the magnatiles

BloodyWolves · 21/10/2024 13:40

So far I’ve got dd (3 in January) the Le Toy Van puppet theatre to share with her 6 year old sister. She’s disabled with a mental age of around 2 so they will both get use of it… hopefully!

Also a small brio train set that has a wooden dinosaur included, Peppa Pig duplo, a My Little Pony play set to go with the advent calendar I’ve got her and a Playdoh set.

I’m running low on ideas! She’s the youngest of three and pretty much has everything she could possibly want due to her acquiring all her siblings toys.

Edited

Would you mind sharing which camera you’ve bought? I’ve been looking at them and there’s so much choice but haven’t seen an instant print one!

On the Christmas list for my 3 year old son:

  • train station, signal system, London Underground set and extension set for Brio trainset
  • 3 electric trains for plastic train set.
  • wooden tea set and wooden food for his toy kitchen
  • metal car transporter
  • paw patrol toy set
  • yoto player
  • want to get a camera but don’t know which
  • more duplo!

then stocking fillers of books, hot wheels and clothes!

Isitfridayyetsophie · 21/10/2024 13:46

@Changeyourfuckingcar sorry, should have read the full thread, just saw your link! Thanks for sharing.

We have loads of magnatiles and they are fab, there’s TikTok accounts that show you how to make marble runs for them, great fun!

Haha I wondered if I was going to get people asking about it, I couldn’t think how else to describe!

Also on the list for us:
Yoto cards and books
kinetic sand

InTheRainOnATrain · 21/10/2024 16:45

DS is 3 and has (so far) requested a bubble gun, little live pets (apparently the actually alive cats we have aren’t good enough), a 1001 different hot wheels sets and a lego hot dog truck (?)
