I literally have no ideas at all on what to get him.
He thinks he would like a huffy green machine or a berg gokart. I on other hand think hes too old for these at 12 and hes 5ft 7 🙈.

Hoping for other ideas to sway him with.
I was thinking BMX (tho has a mountain bike)
Mini BMX
Ipad?

He has no real interests apart from back to the future and roblox, and horse riding which he has all he needs for.

This age is so difficult and not long after his birthday

My son is 12 and it's difficult. I've suggested money to mine. Plus he'll get tickets for comic con.

catchingzzzeds · 13/10/2024 14:33

Curved gaming monitor?
Back to the Future Lego?

Finchgold · 13/10/2024 21:13

If you think he’ll use a go kart then get him it. Let him be a kid as long as he wants. If it’s not going to be used then fair enough, that’s too much to spend on a novelty gift.

liveforsummer · 13/10/2024 21:16

Having 2 dc who horse ride - you can NEVER have all you need 😅. There is your answer- either clothing, equipment or experiences. One year I got dc vouchers for a vaulting and trick riding camp. They still talk about it years later!

mummyof2boys30 · 14/10/2024 18:48

Haha agreement to that about horse riding. But all he actually needs, lol, always more luxury items lol.

I think gokart is a one hit wonder which he wud only use handful of times.

Will bring him around a few shops at weekend. I like to have lists ready for black friday shopping

If you have a go kart track near by, look for an experience or some lessons?

Lovelynames123 · 14/10/2024 19:00

My 12yr old is getting a kindle paperwhite and a watch as her main presents, but I definitely find girls easier to buy for than boys. She got an iPad last year

Noidea2024 · 15/10/2024 12:39

We are thinking either iPad or laptop for our son, who turns 12 over the Christmas period. He doesn't have either at the moment.

Stressfordays · 15/10/2024 12:45

Air force 1s, air pods and a north face puffa coat, that's what my 12 year old asked for 🤦 not enjoying this year really shopping for him. Toys are all out the window and he wants tech and expensive clothes.

Goggleb0x · 15/10/2024 12:51

My 12 year old wants a mini fridge for his room. He also wants a fancy ice cube tray. He loves a gadget.

Pascha · 15/10/2024 12:55

Ds14 who is also 5ft7 grew out of his green machine about age 11, it'll be too small for your son. He goes karting at a fairly nearby track now.

Ds2 is also nearly 12, (birthday early Jan), he wants obscure rubiks cube shapes. Otherwise I have no real idea. He doesn't want money as he never spends it on anything. I have a few small bits in mind but nothing much big.

Teeh · 15/10/2024 12:58

It is difficult when the main present they ask for you know won’t be used much.

Elzzup · 16/10/2024 17:41

A horse?(if he doesn't already have one of course)🤭
Horseback archery lessons

mummyof2boys30 · 16/10/2024 22:21

Haha yes i think we are back to the drawing board it seems. We have ruled gokart and green machine out.

He has ASD which makes it harder as he doesnt see clothes or events as gifts. Will get some horse riding essentials to bulk it out. He would love a horse but nope lol.

This has defo been the hardest year.
So far im thinking
Pogo stick
Crocs (he loves them)
Laptop tray
Star projector light

Mine is getting an ipad.

fourelementary · 16/10/2024 23:06

Mine is getting a suitcase for his sport trip next year and a weighted blanket and a home-gym pull up bar set thing.

SplendidPendips · 18/10/2024 09:04

Mine loved his waffle/Toastie maker, or popcorn maker.

StrawberryThief1930 · 18/10/2024 13:30

yes mini/single waffle maker is popular with my tweens. plus a mix of luxury waffle mix from Lakeland - easy for the kids to do themselves.

Pascha · 18/10/2024 13:34

@mummyof2boys30 doesn't see clothes or events as gifts. Snap! (without the asd but same thinking from both my boys). I've never been able to put pants or socks in stockings as I see some people do.

@SplendidPendips I have a waffle maker in the pile. I'm thinking a George foreman or similar for Ds1 who definitely likes a toastie.

Needmorelego · 18/10/2024 13:34

Apparently there's a new comic book that has the back story of Doc Brown in Back to the Future.

RudolphsDashing · 18/10/2024 14:10

Last year 13 year old DS loved his pull up bar.

Thanks will defo look into this. He has dyslexia as well but maybe could read to him.

Waffle maker could be an idea thanks. Got him a velvetiser for his birthday which went down well. This age is so difficult

I've got my 12 yr old DS tickets to see Imagine Dragons

beachgirl7 · 19/10/2024 17:38

Lakeland have a mini doughnut maker?!

Spud90 · 19/10/2024 20:55

My 13yo DS has ADD and every single year he says he doesn't know what he wants. He says he's already got everything(he definitely hasn't). I suggested airpods but he already has some fake ones that he's happy with so doesn't see the point. He's not really fussed about branded clothing or his appearance. He just likes clothes that are comfy and soft.

The only thing he's asked for is a jellycat avocado as his old non jellycat avocado is falling apart. I'm putting together a hamper of different brands and flavours of chewing gum as he loves it. I'm getting him some freeze dried sweets. I get him a pick n mix tin of lindt every year so he'll be getting one of those plus a junior driving experience gift, some new trainers(probably AF1s again), RAM upgrades for his pc. I got tickets to hot wheels monster jam live glow n fire but it's a joint gift for him and 6yo DS.
