Beautiful Christmas cards

kublacant · 09/10/2024 15:10

I’m not sending as many Christmas cards as usual this year. But I have a hankering to send some gorgeous cards instead of from a box from the supermarket.

Does anyone have any inspiration or ideas of where to buy beautiful Christmas cards?

The folks over on the bargain thread rave about Whistlefish. They have some great offers atm and are fab quality.

Whilst Whistlefish do a good job their cards are middle of the road. Try the RHS, Kew, Museum and Galleries, art galleries/museums own websites, seconding Blank Card Company, look for Angela Harding, Annie Soudain. I am very fussy with my cards and use many I have bought and received as decoration in my home, an easy and cheap way to enjoy wonderful art.

I like the Blank Card Company website - specifically the Mark Hearld and some Pre-Raphaelites in the V&A collection - there are A LOT of cards on the site though! https://www.theblankcardcompany.co.uk/acatalog/Christmas-Cards.html

and also Cambridge Imprint cards https://www.cambridgeimprint.co.uk/product-category/christmas-shop/christmas-cards-christmas

the Cambridge Imprint cards hit the spot!
and I’ve already spotted some great advent calendars from the Blank Card company . Thank you!

I think a lot of them are really lovely, and quite unique some of them, and they're all £2... one of them is just too funny, but I better not buy it- it's happy birthday, with cows on it. lol. Although I don't know if the joke/ insult is intended or just me and my silly mind

kublacant · 09/10/2024 16:27

@Roystonv I agree with you about Whistlefish. Nice cards but not things of beauty. Il check out RHS and Kew.

I’ll end up with more cards than I can send at this rate 😀

I'm going to look into your suggestion after you saying that, that you use them to decorate your house. All my walls are just white, and I've been wanting to find some wall- art

Me neither, really. There's a relative I recently reconnected with after a long time. Would like to send a special card. I think a present would be too much at this tentative stage. And I would like to start sending them more often, I never really did, but I think it's nice. I know I would appreciate one. Maybe could start doing it with my nieces and nephews. Do little kids like getting cards ? I can't remember. I do know my son has always kept his from quite a young-ish age, in a little box in his bedroom cupboard.

I wish I could send one to my gran. I know she would treasure it

Another vote for Whistlefish. Really REALLY good quality cards, and not too expensive.

Chrysanthemum5 · 09/10/2024 20:21

sunshinechaser · 09/10/2024 20:30

My very posh friend sent me a Smythson Christmas card last year. It was very thick and beautiful. But expensive!

Our local art gallery have lovely Christmas cards. I do miss glitter though 🤭

TheRosesAreInBloom · 09/10/2024 20:33

I love Whistlefish….i didn’t really spend £70 on 70 cards a couple of months ago …🙄

ruethewhirl · 09/10/2024 20:38

I've bought some lovely ones online from Museum Selection this last year or two.
