What is your wrapping theme for this year?

One of my favourite bits of Christmas is working out my wrapping theme -last year I did brown paper, red and white twine and holly leaves. One year I did Navy with white snowflakes and glittery ribbon with a white pom pom tucked in.

What's your theme or ideas for this year?

Tinfoil.

Your going to town! That stuff is eye wateringly expensive I find these days!

We will flatten it out and cover the turkey with it afterwards...

@GargoylesofBeelzebub absolutely gorgeous!
it never occurs to me to take a photograph of mine.

@crochetmonkey74 yes, if you're not picky. I got about 8 rolls of their paper for £3.50 each a couple of years ago - it's usually about £15 a roll, but they're 10m long so it lasts really well.

Thanks @PorkPieForStarters I'm not a great sewist either but I can manage straight lines on the machine, might give it a go.

As for giving back the re-usable bags not really a problem here, mostly we only buy for immediate family who we will see on the day and who all approve of re-use so we will just round them up unless someone particularly wants to keep one.

I did brown paper one year and hated it. The tape would not stick and it just looked shite.

One year I did different greens and arranged the presents into a pile per person to look like a Christmas tree.

I haven't even thought about this year yet.

I did green last year and have leftovers plus some I bought in the sales and I love this idea!! 🎄🎄🎄

People have themes? I just use whatever was left from the previous year or that was bought in the sales after Christmas.

You can do both.
I use any random left over paper from last year for either the stocking presents, only two teens so don't need much, or the single gifts you send/give to others outside the house.
But I do like to buy one design paper under the tree. And as we are largely quite chilled and low in number for presents for the adults it's one little thing that I actually like doing.

So I don't know is that a theme? I don't add bows or anything, just name tags.

I always used different paper for stocking presents - I started wrapping all the stocking presents as a way to slow things down (a bit) on Christmas morning, and didn't want the boys spotting the same paper on family presents that FC had used. I used to put about 10-12 things in their stockings, so with three of them and the stocking I did for dh, that meant a mammoth wrapping session of up to 50 stocking presents!

I'm so glad we have decided to stop stockings now - they are 31, 29 and 27 so we thought it was time - lolol.

Thank you! I always take photos for the memory. It gives me so much pleasure. I only really do it for a handful of adults, not all my wrapping.

These are the two years prior.

I always use recycled and recyclable wrapping paper, but I really have to search for pretty stuff! I highly recommend the RSPB wrapping paper. Big rolls of attractive paper at a reasonable cost for the amount you get.

I use the same paper for all presents so that presents from our family are recognisable. This year it is red and gold.

DilemmaDelilah · 09/10/2024 19:50

There is a different rule for stocking presents though, based on the stockings I had as a child which were wrapped by my grandmother who, bless her, didn't have an aesthetic bone in her body.

Cheapest, most garish paper possible, wrapped as badly as possible with lots of sellotape. She used to use string sometimes! I don't go that far....

RudolphsDashing · 10/10/2024 10:33

Yes stocking gifts are always wrapped in paper from Costco! I use a double sided roll I bought years ago. No fancy wrapping for stocking gifts!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/10/2024 13:40

Oh why did my photos not add to my previous post?!

Anyway here they are. Third year in a row for the green kraft paper. 😂

Fab. Envious of your skills.

ExquisiteIyDecorated · 10/10/2024 14:34

I like my stripey paper bags for the stocking gifts, I have them in three different sizes and they don't need any sellotape (pop the gift in and twirl it from the top corners like the greengrocer always used to do with brown paper bags when I was little). Saves a lot of wrapping time and makes them easy to re-use / recycle.

TeamPolin · 10/10/2024 14:40

My theme is 'put some paper over some presents'.

harriettenightingale · 10/10/2024 15:56

Super impressive wrapping @GargoylesofBeelzebub

loropianalover · 10/10/2024 15:57

Nutcracker theme for me this year!

RudolphsDashing · 10/10/2024 16:38

@GargoylesofBeelzebub they look lovely and you've inspired me to get on Youtube this year and learn how to do some fancy wrapping too!
