Glad your op went well Fluffy - hopefully you can feel your fingers now. Anyway its a good excuse to have some sofa time.

We went to the panto last night at the Hammersmith lyric - its a bit quirky and very funny.

I was very organised but now I'm starting to panic that my list has grown. Still haven't written the goddam cards.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/12/2024 07:39

Morning!

I can report full sensation in the fingers, and almost-normal colouring, and the swelling has gone down. My palm stings at the incision site a bit (if you think back to childhood injuries, it feels like when you skin your palm when falling over, so not really painful, but it is intrusive), and the massive bandage makes movement tricky.

The panto sounds good, Magnolia.

Today I've booked a flu jab at 2, and I'm
not sure what else is happening. My manager was going to pop over, but she's up the wall, so I'm not sure now.

Good results re the surgery @NoWordForFluffy (though when the dressing comes off your hand will look all wizened and blood stained from the incision !!

Deffo worthy of some sympathy "No I cannot do xyz . Look at my poor hand"

12 days still seems in the Ahhhh bags of time camp but in reality , it ain't .

I heard FToNY yesterday at work , don't now who was playing it .

NoWordForFluffy · 13/12/2024 09:09

I've spotted that it's very bruised this morning! Bandage is off tomorrow but the plaster stays on til the stitches are out. Which I need to sort at my GP rather than trek back to Spire for it!

Very happy with my bargain Christmas jumper from Asda today. Reduced to £15, and had a £5 voucher in my rewards app. It lights up and is gorgeous!

I have a Christmas party (at my knitting group!) on Monday so I'll be all festive for that now.

Magnoliasunrise · 14/12/2024 06:37

Morning

So glad to hear your hand is doing well Fluffy, thats such good news but I agree with 70 that you can milk it for a while - get on the sofa with those festive chocs.

Well done on the christmas jumper bargain Webb especially if it lights up!

Pretty much done on the wrapping (apart from rowing unisuit for DS that they've now finally confirmed won't arrive in time Grrrrr but have offered an alternative phew) and............. I finally wrote and posted some cards yippppeeeee!!!!

MonkeyTennis34 · 14/12/2024 07:39

Had my choir's Christmas concert last night, definitely revved up the Christmas energy and sparkle that I felt was eluding me this year.
(May need to up my HRT).

Going to start my Christmas jigsaw this morning, then going out for a meal with friends late afternoon.
We're going to The Ivy, never been before and the cocktail menu looks delicious!

Will catch up on the Strictly final when we get home late tonight.
I think the result is a shoo-in but I'll watch it anyway.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/12/2024 08:47

Morning!

I'm just back from the dog walk / run. I couldn't do it yesterday as I was exhausted, but it was good to get back to it today. DH had to tie my trainers for me, and I couldn't get my usual top on as the sleeve wouldn't go over the bandage! The bandage comes off later, then it's just the dressing which stays on til the stitches come out.

Well done on the jumper, @Webbb

Do you think Chris will win, Monkey? I hope he does as what he has achieved is bloody amazing.

OP posts:
Webbb · 14/12/2024 09:18

Who are we saying is a sure winner tonight? I've assumed Chris but I also love Tasha and Sarah, both are cracking dancers. But it's not always about the best dancers!

NoWordForFluffy · 14/12/2024 10:23

Tasha is a trained pro dancer though, so the most extreme ringer going. It would be a travesty if she would. Sarah is also partly-trained. I just think Chris' achievement is greater due to not being able to see.

Yet another year when I've had every intention of watching Strictly and haven't watched a single bit. Similar to my intention to read the Christmas chronicles book and have yet to get past the intro Xmas Blush

Glad you're on the mend Fluffy

We've had a Christmassy morning by doing breakfast then meeting Santa at Harvester and stopping at the Christmas factory shop as it closes for the year tomorrow and everything is half price. Got 2 bargainous indoor only stars I liked when we went in October - they were £55 full price, down to £27.50 in the sale but they couldn't find the boxes so let us have the last 2 for £15 each Xmas Shock

Am now home chilling out for a bit before we do the park to stretch our legs and walk off the breakfast. Then housework/potching before carting LO off to bed and spending the evening wrapping all their presents.

Morning!

Grey and breezy here. Should get the washing dry quickly if nothing else, as it's the light stuff / bedding, none of which takes long to dry.

I need to take the dog out soon. He's climbing the walls!

OP posts:
MonkeyTennis34 · 15/12/2024 13:20

Ha! I've just posted on the SCD thread!

Yes, I thought Chris would win and it was very much a well-deserved win.

Just hand delivered some cards, currently sitting on the sofa doing some last minute online ordering.

Still haven't started my Christmas jigsaw...it may not happen this year but THAT'S OK.
(Block caps are due to my realisation that every year I put far too much pressure on myself to do this, that and the other and end up feeling frazzled. So I'm stepping away from all that nonsense from this year onwards......if it gets done, great, if it doesn't....never mind).

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/12/2024 15:38

Oh I haven't managed the Christmas Chronicle Readalong either Meeces but I keep the book in my bedside cupboard to dip into at random times of year .

We were in Bruges today Christmas markets, chocolate shops, beer shops all the pretty streets . Some nice lights but not OTT .

Having a pre dinner relax then we'll get all scrubbed and dressed for dinner .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/12/2024 15:40

Tomorrow is single figures and I've only watched ONE Cheesy Christmas Film which is Love Actually . Saw 'Red One' but that's not in the CCF territory

NoWordForFluffy · 15/12/2024 15:42

Red One is on Prime now if anyone fancies it without forking out for the cinema!

Enjoy Bruges, 70!

I've also never managed the Christmas Chronicles read along. Xmas Grin

Morning.

@MonkeyTennis34 thanks for those words of wisdom, am using that to squash my guilt for not doing a single stitch of my christmas cross stitch since I posted the photo way back. I'm thinking I may pick it up when kids are finished school and send it next year 😂.
Ooooh @70isaLimitNotaTarget enjoy Bruges sounds lovely and festive.

Another no for Christmas Chronicles - is it Nigel Slater?

NoWordForFluffy · 16/12/2024 11:00

Morning!

I've just been to the practice nurse to finally get HRT. The commencement of night sweats and insomnia kicked me up the arse to go!

Tomorrow I have an eye test and on Friday I have a massage. Using my time off to have a load of stuff done I can claim back from Simply Health! 🤣

I tried left handed cross stitch on Saturday. It's challenging!

OP posts:
Webbb · 16/12/2024 11:28

Oh I want to watch Red One. I started 'Holidate' at the weekend and it's fantastically cheesy so far, so I'll watch the rest at some point this week!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 16/12/2024 13:36

Glad you're making the most of your time off Fluffy!

I
Wrapped half of LOs presents while watching Miracle on 34th Street on Saturday which was lovely and festive (they don't have loads, I just decided to wrap slowly and finished off the last few for others so didn't start theirs in until 9.

Have had a slight setback in wrapping by smashing a glass and slicing through the top of my left palm with it 🙄 Did it yesterday morning and hoping it'll be ok for me to finish wrapping tomorrow.
Right now it's bandaged and very sore though 🙄

Hopingforno2in2024 · 16/12/2024 17:03

Glad you are recovering well @NoWordForFluffy :)

Lovely to hear all the Christmas prep as we enter the last few days! I am done with gifts and cards (posted them at lunchtime) so just the food to sort :) Also just cleaned out the Christmas fridge (the rest of the year known as the garage fridge).

Had my brain MRI results today which were normal. Just the menopause specialist to see on Thursday now. Have had an easier time with the headaches the last few days so that is nice. Had a hot flush over breakfast.

DS is axe throwing this evening with Cubs so DH and I have a rare child free evening. We have booked dinner at a restaurant and am looking forward to their festive food :)

Hopingforno2in2024 · 16/12/2024 17:03

Gosh @NoCheesesForUsMeeces i hope your hand heals quickly!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/12/2024 08:54

🎄🎅🏻 8 🎅🏻🎄

Morning!

I'm tired today. Not sure if it's still the after effects of the op (but would be surprised if it was, as it's not like I had a GA), or just the peri insomnia! I'm picking my HRT up today, so hopefully the latter is soon in the past!

Meeces, I hope your hand is OK. There really wasn't any need to come out in sympathy for my cut palm! My hand feels ok unless I press the wound, which is sore then (there is a lesson there!).

I'm glad your MRI was normal, Hoping. Did DS enjoy axe-throwing?!

OP posts:
Hopingforno2in2024 · 17/12/2024 09:17

Hope the HRT works nice and quickly @NoWordForFluffy! DS did enjoy the axe throwing although he didn't manage to hit anything bless him. We had a lovely dinner out.

This morning I am off to play tennis and then I need to tackle tidying the garage so that we can build DS' air hockey table.
