Really? Oh god no, this is far too early.

goes off to see what they’re selling…

hollyblueivy · 24/09/2024 07:59

The sleigh ride Colin the caterpillar is cute.

augustusglupe · 24/09/2024 08:03

The Goose is back!! Just ordered.
Lots more choice this year I thought.

WeAllHaveWings · 24/09/2024 08:04

All booked already with a Christmas Eve pick-up slot!

Can forget about Christmas for another couple of months now!

gbpaln · 24/09/2024 08:06

I agree, lots more choice. No beef pie with the marrow bone this year so have gone for the delicious loking wagu beef pie for Christmas Eve.

I've never ordered from M&S for Christmas before. Does anyone know if any of it will be available in the shop, please? I really want the sausage roll garland!

A lot of it will be available in store. Usually from about 16th Decemeber iirc. On the food to order page it tells you if something is exclusive to the Food to Order range.

Edited to add: Sausage roll garland is not exclusive so should be in store.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/09/2024 12:13

Oh wow. Thank you @RainbowZebraWarrior for answering, looking, and not making me feel like a twat for not seeing myself!

I'm going to look again because I completely missed that!

I've booked my slot this morning for Christmas Eve morning pick up. DD 20, in protest at my idea of going to a pub for a meal on Christmas Day, has offered to cook. I ordered the slow cooked stuffed Turkey Crown as I think it would be good for a beginner. We are taking it to cook at MIL so i'm not too worried - am a bit worried about the roasties though!

I am horrified they have discontinued the Cornish Cruncher! Genuinely! What will I eat with an entire loaf of bread on Boxing Day now?

They've discontinued the cheese?

Can vouch for Waitrose Davistow Cornish Vintage Cheddar as a possible alternative.

The wagyu beef pie does look very nice, I've ordered too. Depending on the dates I might freeze it and have it for new years day.

Also ordered both the sirloin joints for Christmas day instead of turkey.....I can't make my mind up which one to get and which one to remove from my order! We had the Aberdeen Angus one last year and it was really easy and very tasty....but then the Dry-aged one looks good too....

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 24/09/2024 15:11

The range must differ between countries, I'm in Ireland and the beef pie with marrow bone is available here. There's a cauliflower gratin with cornish cruncher too, so the cheese must still exist! I wouldn't know how to Christmas at all without at least 3 cornish cruncher products in the fridge.

I think the brie en croute is going to go on my Christmas Eve menu, along with some naice bread. Maybe some smoked salmon as well. And possibly some rillettes. Some nice, sweet apples, maybe some grapes. God, I love Christmas.

Autumnorganising · 24/09/2024 15:39

Although the food looks gorgeous and I’m sure it’s delicious, the selection of dairy and gluten free food is poor this year. Such a shame. I’m working up until Christmas Eve and really can’t be arsed to cook everything from scratch ( and am catering for several days in a row 😬), so was hoping to buy more prepared meals in. Hopefully there will more choice in-store.

Christmassssssssss · 24/09/2024 16:34

Me and DH are just having a small one this year with DD2 and DM.
Have ordered the Colin the Caterpillar, sprout gratin, cauliflower Cornish cruncher, their small Turkey breast joint and some other bits and bobs.

Looking forward to trying the chocolate pine cones and sausage roll garland!

I am sorry, I did not mean to induce wholesale panic across MN. They have not got the CC dip they have done a big version of the last 15 years - it serves 10 normal people or ME on BD 😂

JoanCollected · 24/09/2024 21:08

The prices are disgusting though.

gettingolderbutcooler · 24/09/2024 21:38

The prawn cocktail is amaaaazing!

ApiratesaysYarrr · 24/09/2024 22:07

Disappointed no beef and bone marrow pie, we give the bone to my son's dog and it keeps him occupied for hours. Interesting that there are 2 Wagyu joints though.

I really don't like the site layout though, I assume it's been changed as there is less choice, I'm sure that you used to be able to sort by e.g. meat/fish

Why?

Whothefuckdoesthat · 25/09/2024 09:02

We’ve always gone with M&S for the turkey and pudding but I’m quite disappointed with the selection this year. They’ve gone from having pages and pages of turkeys to choose from, to quite a small selection. And there’s nothing in the pudding selection that’s really grabbing us.

I think we’re going to end up getting lots of bits from lots of different places this year.

shockeditellyou · 25/09/2024 09:30

HOW MUCH for a glorified chicken????

I'm generally a fan of M&S stuff but I really resent paying that much for a turkey. Not suggesting that M&S are unusual!

Just in case you don't know, giving a dog cooked bones (raw are fine) is very dangerous. Cooked bones splinter into sharp pieces and can cause serious damage to the dog's mouth, throat or intestines.

It's an excellent point , but don't worry, we knew that and would pull the bone out and put it in the fridge before cooking the pie!

ViciousCurrentBun · 25/09/2024 21:56

@shockeditellyou It is certainly pricey. I’m going to clear out my freezer and make a Christmas draw. I do it every year and buy stuff way in advance. Best thing I did last year was make a giant pig in blanket. I saw one online and they had sold out, can’t remember which shop it was that has them but was very easy.
