Advent Calendars

I’m just starting to think about advent calendars for Christmas and I wondered if anybody had tried the sweetzy one before?

I was also thinking of the food one that lots of people seem to get (but I can’t remember the name of it)

Any other recommendations would be great DS19, DD13, DH42 am trying to steer clear of makeup this time round (and I’ve already pre-ordered mine ☺️)

Last year I bought a crossword one for me.

Ag that’s a shame. Fingers crossed it will be world wide when the 2024 calendar comes out. I’d love to try it as well. There are so many good suggestions on this thread, thanks for starting it!

Thanks to you lovely lot I've just pre-ordered the Bonne Maman jam advent calendar! I've never had it before but the list of the different types of jam/conserves to try sound amazing.

For the past couple of years we’ve had an advent bag. 24 food related gifts wrapped and placed in a gift bag. After dinner each night we would open one and eat as our ‘dessert’ so gifts were family sized packs of Maltesers reindeer, chocolate orange, posh marshmallows etc. worked really well.
this year though I’m going back to individual Advent calendar’s- will probably do Lindt chocolate ones.

I made a wooden advent chalet calendar for the team at work. I fill it with wrapped Christmas snacks for the month of December and it's always popular with my colleagues.

I kind of want to order it for myself but like you said, no more UK deliveries! I wonder if I can recreate this for myself in December? That’ll sort breakfast out for the month!

Someone asked about cheese - most cheese freezes really well (generally the harder the better). Having Too Much Cheese is nothing to worry about.

We got a Pact coffee one and really rated it.

You can sometimes get them a little bit cheaper on Amazon or eBay around Oct/Nov but not a lot only a couple of pounds off but you probably don't get the free extra jar.

I'm getting the Bonne Maman one after seeing that list upthread! I had it a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

I might get the yankee candle one too this year.

I ordered the Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser calendar today. Looking forward to trying all three flavours.

I did a gemstone one once. I wasn’t happy with the tiny chips in the prefab calendars I found. Instead I found a vendor on Etsy that sold sets of crystals, normally in boxes of 15 or 30 or something like that. I explained what I wanted to do. She put together a custom set for me that leaned heavy into the colors and types that my recipient would like, but stayed on my price point. It was probably my most successful year.

Anyone know where I can get a Japanese/asian sweets/snacks advent calendar? If not may have to make it myself

I am also feeling cheered and soothed by reading about all the lovely advent calendars you all mention - I love the Christmas board when I am low as it's always cheerful and friendly and a bit of mild escapism. Thanks everyone!

Oooh, I really liked the look of the Buldak Ramen advent calendar. Does anyone know if they will release one for 2024 and if it will be sold in the UK? Do they come out every year?
