My DS5 loves his mini microscope LED keyring which went in hit stocking. Expensive stocking filler but he’s been walking around all day looking at everything.

tell me your present hits you got for others or received yourself!

@StarDolphins ahh I’d feel the same as you but that is actually very sweet. I guess it’s just dressing up. I have a DD2 so can’t wait to navigate all of that stuff 🙄

@Mindovermatter247 scented bracelets?! Didn’t even know that existed but I’d have loved that when I was younger.

It was something that popped up on smyths. I thought oh that’s a bit of her. £6 why not…best £6 I’ve spent…

Shyla ring from Liberty. Not expensive, dress ring. Lovely surprise

flowerchild2000 · 26/12/2023 23:11

A little hologram pet that's inside a little box that looks like a ring box. I honestly didn't know it had so many features, most toys with multiple versions make you buy multiples to complete the set. This has the whole collection of pets you can unlock with play. It's so adorable and DD is obsessed.

It goes against everything I believe in & she won’t be allowed to wear it outside & she never asked for this as she’d have thought the answer would be no but for my 7 yo DD, her surprise present of a crop top (& stick on eye lashes from my mum😱) has been her most best present. She’s not taken them off since yesterday morning!

So cute!!!

idontlikealdi · 26/12/2023 23:13

A metal detector. Unfortunately we have only found crisp packets, bottle tops and a condom wrapper but much enjoyment

SubParbanMum · 26/12/2023 23:14

@idontlikealdi so far…!

Dd11 mini grabber machine like the ones in amusement arcades. She has played it with so much as have I it's addictive !!

mynameiscalypso · 26/12/2023 23:16

My DS got Hungry Hippos from a cousin. He is absolutely obsessed with it and has been playing with it all day. Meanwhile, we've been trying to interest him in the huge Lego set we got him with little success 😂

I'm ill at the moment and have a fever so keep getting very cold. My mum bought me one of those oversized fluffy hoodies from M&S and my MIL bought me some fluffy slipper boots. I will not be getting out of either soon.

Blessedbethefruitz · 26/12/2023 23:16

@SubParbanMum Sorry if I've missed it, but do you have a link?! Sounds excellent!

I bought the DH a nice new coat for smart wear (he’s a lawyer) he was actually quite excited.

Managed to locate a dvd of something obscure they the DS had been on his watchlist for ages.

PepsiCoco · 26/12/2023 23:22

For DS it was 18+ Lego and for DD it was an iPad.

GettingStuffed · 26/12/2023 23:23

I bought my, adult, son some multicoloured socks in a size that fits his size 15 feet

clary · 26/12/2023 23:28

DS2 - Nike trainers, worn to the footy today

DD - Pompompurrin (bought by her bf tbf) and the Vienna blue hippo (she loves a cuddly)

DS1 - Spiderman Pop figure

They are all adults btw wtf!?

For our 11 year old DS.
A shark fleece sack thing you can wear, completely impractical, feet go in the tail so you can only take small steps as you shuffle along, arms go in the fins and you can button the whole huge shark head right over your head. It’s about £13 on Temu and he hardly took it off all of Christmas Day even with the log burner going all day so he was boiling but refused to take it off.

A cushion with sequins on it which when you flipped them up revealed a picture of our dog we lost a year ago and he still misses the dog so much and it was £10 on eBay from a seller who makes them. It made him so emotional and he loved it.

A crep complete trainer kit which was all in a fancy box, he is obsessed with keeping his trainers nicely and loves when he has a kit and everything has its special place.

For teen DD, it was an electric blanket. She didn't even know they existed and has been complaining of being cold at night recently so was absolutely thrilled about this. Sweetly, she also really grateful that I'd got her some clothes even though they will all be going back as none of them are quite what she wants. They are close enough to show to her that I do listen to her!
For tween DS, it was a replacement hooded blanket. A recent growth spurt means that the one he got last Christmas as a surprise and has worn pretty much all the time he's not in school uniform or sports kit got a bit short so he is delighted with a new version. He is also really pleased as something he wanted was out of stock when he showed it to me online and has been out off stock since. Little did he know I'd bought it for him as soon as I saw it in mid October!
For DH, it was a cartoon of his football team which I picked up at a craft fair. I was mightily relieved as I seem unable to retain anything I have ever heard him say about football and so had no way of judging if it was accurate or not.

Ooh! A relative has bought one for my DC but we haven't seen them/received it yet. I know they'll love it.

Biggest hit yesterday apart from the main presents was a soft tip dart set/board.

SubParbanMum · 26/12/2023 23:33

@GettingStuffed SIZE 15?!? I’m impressed you found some.

DS1 seemed pleased with everything but particularly pleased with his lego technic set- built by the time I got back from church on Christmas day.

DS2 was wildly excited by his gifts this year, which seeing as he has been fully embracing becoming a teen this year, wasn't guaranteed. In particular he loved the drum kit he didn't think we would get him & more unexpectedly the comb I put in his stocking.

OH is also loving his comb and is very happy with his new bag.

I'm very pleased with my stack of new books to read, comfy pjs to wear & a lovely smelling perfume. My top gift this year though, was everyone in my house being well enough that on Christmas Eve I could head out with friends to go to carols by candlelight & enjoy the peace & joy of Christmas without worrying about my children for an hour or so.

All in all, it's been a very successful Christmas, with just the right mix of faith, family, friends & fun for me.

Evercade super pocket, these were fifty pound and my son has played with his more than his metaquest 3.

neonbluesquare · 27/12/2023 00:32

Lego has been a hit for both my 10 and 8 year olds.

As were the mini cans of coke in their stockings - they’re not normally allowed fizzy drinks so they were very happy with them!

My 10 year old is thrilled with her Air Up water bottle. I was reluctant to spend so much on one but it was the main thing she wanted. Seeing how happy it’s made her means it’s already been worth every penny.

Pleasegotobed · 27/12/2023 00:50

I love these threads 😃 everything was a hit here. Especially their shared gift of a pc which DS (11) was so overcome about that he cried when they opened it! Oodies were a big hit and they haven’t taken them off, younger ds loved his archery and slime set. All in all - wins all round!

Sugarfree23 · 27/12/2023 01:30

Hits here were DS7 nerf gun and a small hotwheels track builder set, I only bought it on a last minute whim. Actually I'm wishing I'd got him a bigger hotwheels set and smaller lego - he's not looked at his big lego set nor has he open his birthday one.
DS12 his lego has gone down a treat. Hasn't put it down!
