It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

I hope you feel better soon @NoWordForFluffy

I'm definitely feeling some of the January blues by now. I was outside in my pyjamas and dressing gown at 5 am. yesterday morning, trying to reassemble my recycling bins, which had been dismantled and dragged down the street by the terrible wind, all my recyclable waste was gone apart from some cardboard that had been wedged at the bottle of one of the boxes. Perfect way to start the day 😂

Morning!

What a rubbish night's sleep...cough, cough, cough. 😩😩 Plus I twisted my ankle walking the dog yesterday, so that hurt too. It's not too bad today, and I've walked him this morning, but it's still twinging a bit.

MaraMar, the recycling blew everywhere round here the other week when people put the bins out, as they didn't know not to due to piss poor communication from the council. In 60mph winds. We did say that you could tell the people who had lots of glass in their bins, as they stayed upright!

I'm so tired. 😴

I've had some form of success here. Managed to get my X-rays done and my treatment booked in. The negative is that it's a while away (6 weeks) but it's being done on the NHS with the price cap of £47 so I'll take that for now.

Another win here is that I used my lunch break to finally join the library. First book taken out is very in keeping with the thread because it's a gardening one Xmas Grin

Fluffy I hope you feel better soon, and that your bins are collected asap!

Marmar your early start doesn't sound good.

I'm back at my desk now. Sigh. I really need to win the lottery soon...

NoWordForFluffy · 11/01/2024 14:56

The bins have been collected! 🎉 🥳 Apparently one of our local councillors had received many complaints!

Meeces, at least it's much cheaper on the NHS. Lots of painkillers til the appt date!

WreckTangled · 11/01/2024 16:41

Woah thats so cheap meeces my NHS filling was more than that. A crown would be £300 here on the NHS.

lucysmam · 11/01/2024 16:52

We've been back at school/work a week tomorrow. I'm feeling surprisingly chipper atm! But looking forward to the weekend nonetheless!

Ordered a couple of stocking filler pairs of earrings the other night for the girls & just getting to finishing transferring my lists so they're nice and neat for the coming year. Saving starts tomorrow too - it was always easier having put something aside each week so going back to that.

I'm going to take everything off my Vinted later on & relist a few things every day or two. Anything that doesn't sell can go - I can't imagine it selling in a charity shop either 🤷‍♀️ The money from that's going towards Eras Tour weekend in June 😊 Dd1 has her eye on an eyewateringly pricey merch hoodie.

MrsDilligaf · 11/01/2024 19:02

Our bin should have been collected today, but wasn't. Not sure if they are still playing catch up or just behind because of the weather (very icy here).

I suspect we might have a touch of snow this weekend, but who knows, it generally misses us by a few miles, DD is desperate for snow day 😁

I've put a time limit on the Christmas Goodies. The cakes, sweets and mince pies still left will be taken to church on Sunday. I'll freeze the cheese and the unopened goodies can go to the food bank because my jeans are too tight

lucysmam · 11/01/2024 20:31

I've just remembered I asked dd1 to pop in The Works & see if they had a dinky red truck, with Christmas tree on the back, left with the remains of Christmas craft. Unfortunately they did not 🙄 so I shall have to hunt for similar and pay more than 50p. What she doesn't know is I wanted it for her birthday cake, which is going to be Taylor Swift themed.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 11/01/2024 20:46

@lucysmam I may have one that I can send you if you don't need it too quickly. I use something like that as a topper for my hairdresser's Christmas cake. She usually gives it me back and she's due next week. I can post a photo when I get it and I'll post it on to you if it's suitable.

lucysmam · 11/01/2024 20:53

Thanks @TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg, that's very kind of you but they tend to keep the little bits and bobs I put on top & that sounds like something you use regularly 😊. I'll find something on ebay I'm sure.

Morning Xmas Grin
I have finished work for a week <hurrah> and awake ridiculously early (on my NWD) to take my DD to work then go to the supermarket - which means I'll get out and get things done rather than blundering about in my DoD (Dressing gown of Doom )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2024 07:00

Our bins have been on a delay with Christmas / New Year but back on track next week .
They're pretty good and if the street is missed there's am email reporting system.
Our road is tiny , so occasionaly overlooked .

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2024 07:32

Morning!

We have the missed bin reporting system too. I reported; they ignored! 🙄All emptied and back to full now.

What are you doing with your week off, 70?

I need to book a day off as I'm having a steroid injection into my right wrist at the end of the month to try to resolve carpal tunnel symptoms. It's partly diagnostic, but the surgeon does think it'll help. I was trying to work out how to fit my working day around it, but decided it wasn't worth the challenge! 🤣

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2024 12:33

I'm off to visit family Fluffy
Train which I'm hoping is less of a pain than the bus was (but I'm not holding out too much hope )

I have a couple of tidy up /do washing/sort things days this weekend .
My winter coats are hanging up and I'm eyeing them up to see which one I'll need . ( The waterproof parka is winning Xmas Grin )

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2024 13:58

Avanti or LNER? Avanti will be touch and go if it's them! 😬

I just hung the washing out and cleaned 3 bathrooms in my lunch break. 😥 Back to it now!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2024 14:47

LNER - are there strikes planned ?
I've not heard anything untoward

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2024 14:55

Not that I know of. But Avanti cancel trains at the drop of a hat, so at least you're avoiding them!

I hauled my trolley round Sainsbury this morning , had a look at some of the sale items but nothing grabbed me . I also skirted past the Mini Eggs , too early for them (though I did buy one of those Cadbury Chocolate Puddings for DS ...with the side of Mini Eggs Xmas Grin

When they start stocking the Get Your Young Adult OffSpring Kitted Out For Independant Living duvets, kettles, plastic food storage tubs and coathangers in early Sept then I know Christmas isn't far behind ....

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2024 20:03

We have a huge Sainsbury's opening next month. I'm dead excited! #saddo #proofimold

My new hobby will be roaming Sainsbos our new house is nearer to it too. Win!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/01/2024 20:04

To be fair Fluffy I would find that exciting as well. I would be one of the first through the doors 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2024 20:15

28 Feb is the day. If it opens at 7am, I'm gonna be there! 🤣🤣

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/01/2024 20:16

Haha love this. Not sure it will open at 7am but fingers crossed.

Morning!

I'm in Liverpool with DS. We stayed at a PI last night, so were able to go shopping nice and early. He wanted to get some more 'exciting' clothes (whatever that means!), which we sorted in Primark, as well as getting a Pokémon hooded blanket in M&S.

We're back in the hotel room for now, as he's building some small Lego sets he bought, then off to Bella Italia for lunch a bit later.

It's thankfully not as cold as I thought it would be here. Just murky!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 13/01/2024 11:07

It’s cold here. I’m so tired too as didn’t sleep well. Need to go food shopping but can’t go until dh gets paid (or I could but it would mean moving money about, might do that if it’s not there in an hour…).

NoWordForFluffy · 13/01/2024 11:16

I actually slept well. So well I won't sleep tonight! DS was really tired, so we were asleep shortly after 9, and I had almost 9 hours' sleep. 😳😁 I will definitely suffer tonight though.

I hope the money appears soon. Sounds rather haphazard.
