Just that really.

Christmas PJs or do you get dressed?

We are having my MIL and SIL and obviously we are going to get dressed.

Do you wear a nice dress and go all out? Or just your usual day to day? Also what about the little ones?

Just curious what others day looks like 🥰

I always have a lovely bubble bath with fancy products, do my hair and makeup full glam, then put nice underwear on with new pajamas!

Doesn't matter whether I'm going around to family or staying at home. I remember hosting my partner's friends once and was a bit gutted tbh that I had to get actual dressed!

Toddler101 · 14/12/2023 15:41

Depends if I've got an outfit I'll feel nice in. If yes, I'll wear that. If not I'll just wear my usual warderobe with some Christmas earrings.

Baby will be dressed in their Christmas clothing. Pre-schooler will choose their own clothes so may or may not end up Christmas outfit. Last year, pre-schooler refused to wear their Christmas outfit but wore it for the first time in August on a casual trip around M&S 😂

DH will dress like Christmas has thrown up on him as usual 😂

That sounds heavenly.

I always get so uncomfortable in clothes with all the food and drinks. And guaranteed I'm in my PJ by dessert 🤣

We ask DS, last year he wanted his favourite clothes, this year he has said a PJ day (we've only done it once before during covid when no one could come over and tbf it was my favourite!)

He's 7, we intend to all get up and do presents then go get showered and as per PP do hair etc but then put on nice pjs or loungewear, evenif we go for a walk DH will swap to joggers but otherwise it's long coats and a quiet walk around the estate

EmpressSoleil · 14/12/2023 15:57

Something relaxed and comfortable, although that's what I wear almost every day anyway! I'm not averse to spending a day in pj's but I do like to at least put some clothes on for Christmas! Boxing day however will most likely be PJ'S!

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 14/12/2023 16:21

I shall be better directly.

ToWonderWhyIBother · 14/12/2023 16:23

I used to get all glammed up when my kids where small and had loads of family around for xmas day. 3 years ago it was just us as a family and oh my it was the best day ever, had a long soak in the bath, read my book that Santa brought me 😁 got changed into my new pj's and stayed like that for the remainder of the day.

It is now a new tradition to have the laziest and relaxing Xmas day, still cook a full meal but so much better than being the harassed stressed person that I used to be on Xmas Day.

secretsanta23 · 14/12/2023 16:24

Usually a skirt and nice blouse. But it has to be comfy!

Pyjamas are usually on after dinner to allow room for pudding Blush

NCTDN · 14/12/2023 16:25

I don't think that I've ever thought about that. We get relatively dressed up and assumed everyone did. I'm fascinated by new pjs and wearing them all day. Maybe I should try it.

Favouritefruits · 14/12/2023 16:25

I just wear normal clothes, jeans and a jumper sparkling earrings and hair scraped back in to a ponytail!

Nagado · 14/12/2023 16:39

If we’re at home then clean pyjamas if it’s just me & DH or loungewear if any of my family are popping in. We’re with my in laws this year, so I’m actually going to have to get properly dressed, but they’re quite relaxed so nobody will be glammed up.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/12/2023 16:43

I generally wear something a bit fancy but still comfy - last year was a black and silver midi dress from Monki with opaque tights and DM boots. This year I have a lovely slouchy new alpaca knit from Arket in a cream colour, which I am going to wear with brown cords from Hush. We’re at MIL’s which is always on the chilly side. Once we get home (8ish) it’s pjs!

Frenchfancy · 14/12/2023 16:44

Always get dressed up. Usually treat myself to a new Christmas dress, I make sure it's a comfy one. This is this year's dress. A coast dress for 12€ on vinted.

If you have Christmas at home, what do you wear?
Gherkingreen · 14/12/2023 16:54

I always cook for everyone so no fancy or cosy clothes here - too much risk of oil splatter and perimenopausal overheating. Comfort all the way. If I was a guest somewhere and just had to sit and eat I might dress up a bit.

HappyAsASandboy · 14/12/2023 17:40

I try and dress smartly, but struggle because I am always hot/cold at various times of the day.

I try to get the kids to wear Christmas shirts/jumpers, but that gets harder as they get older.

DH will probably wear short and trousers.

Visiting family will dress smartly too.

Ponderingwindow · 14/12/2023 17:42

We stay home until about 4-5pm. The day is spent in Christmas pajamas and then we get dressed up for going out.

Vicliz24 · 14/12/2023 17:42

New pj bottoms and Christmas jumpers. We all do it including my adult DC who visit .

MunchMunch · 14/12/2023 19:25

If I was going anywhere I'd wear something comfortable but nice. I'll be in my pjs this year as we aren't going anywhere and no one will be coming over. If I'm in the house either pjs or legging and tshirt are worn. I'm all about comfort when I'm at home.

BIWI · 14/12/2023 19:28

If it wasn't for the fact that my BIL will be here, I'd be in my pyjamas all day.

mambojambodothetango · 14/12/2023 19:31

Practical clothes for a muddy walk in the morning. Then change into something nice but not fancy. A nice jumper and trousers or possibly a skirt but always a bit daft when you're indoors in slippers.

NCTDN · 14/12/2023 19:37

If you're making an effort with the Christmas dinner though, doesn't it feel wrong to eat whilst wearing pyjamas ? I'm not judging just genuinely intrigued.

FestiveFrederica · 14/12/2023 19:37

I get dressed up normally but not sure I can be arsed this year. I have to dress quite formally at work, so I might buy some new pjs/loungewear to put on this year

GeorgeBeckett · 14/12/2023 19:41

Jeans and a Christmas jumper are fine for home and church with my parents. Sportswear with festive adornments if we are doing ParkRun

MintJulia · 14/12/2023 19:43

Jeans, shirt, sweater & socks,

Add in an extra sweater, boots, warm jacket and scarf as necessary 😁
