Just that really.

Christmas PJs or do you get dressed?

We are having my MIL and SIL and obviously we are going to get dressed.

Do you wear a nice dress and go all out? Or just your usual day to day? Also what about the little ones?

Just curious what others day looks like 🥰

Jogging bottoms, my favourite comfy jumper and slippers. It's just another day off for me.

Olika · 14/12/2023 20:20

Got a loose woolly dress for myself with leggings and last year's Xmas dress altered bigger for my DD (20m) so we are comfy sitting on the floor or sofa.

Ribenaberry12 · 14/12/2023 21:02

I’m either going for a patterned green Weird Fish dress and a cardigan or a bluey grey FatFace skirt with a cream White Stuff jumper that I got from a charity shop earlier on the year and thick tights and boots if we go out.

gamerchick · 14/12/2023 21:17

Hair and makeup done, new PJ's with nice underwear.

Not really hosting or going out. Total comfortable day here. No Christmas dinner either, order curries the night before and have Christmas nibbles in.

gocompare · 14/12/2023 21:18

Casual Christmas this year so leggings, Xmas t shirt. Maybe a cardi for if it's chilly.

idontlikealdi · 14/12/2023 21:21

Matching pjs at the request of the kids

Pifful · 14/12/2023 21:22

I always feel obliged to wear a posh frock because my mother always did. She's dead and I'm 65 so I really could please myself!
I have some lovely velvet loose trousers I'm going to wear this year. Plus a nice, thin, top as I get over heated cooking.

Lemonademoney · 14/12/2023 21:23

We had one year where we all wore our new Christmas pjs and it was bliss! Normally we have family round in the morning for presents and Bucks Fizz/mince pies so usually a sparkly top and jeans

reluctantbrit · 14/12/2023 21:23

Nice trousers and top combo. I change into jeans if we go for a walk.

PJs are for sleeping or being ill so no way I wear this all day.

Bouledeneige · 14/12/2023 21:25

Despite having a bath or shower mid morning, I dress pretty casual myself as I get quite hot and greasy pulling things in and out of the oven. We don't tend to be very dressy.... probably a nice top and trousers with birkies, ice earrings and a bit of makeup - if it stays on!

Mintearo7 · 14/12/2023 21:26

A dress but usually something that looks okay with slippers! So not super glam.

TheNoodlesIncident · 14/12/2023 22:29

Jeans and one of my festive Bretons. Christmassy socks. DH will put on a festive shirt and funny socks, like with a sprout pattern or similar. DS will drag on whatever he comes across first when he gets up.

I've worn this kind of thing for years, regardless of whether we're at home, at someone else's or booked into a restaurant. I like to be comfy but look like I've checked the calendar.

(I'm one of those who only wear pyjamas through the day if I'm not well, so that's never going to happen.)

Mindovermatter247 · 14/12/2023 22:33

Personally I get dressed, but not dressed up, just my usual wear… my mum too.. dc, DP and dsis all wear pjs usually. We don’t have guests that often so not trying to impress anyone..

longtompot · 14/12/2023 22:36

Pjs until after breakfast and presents opened and then get dressed to walk the dog, so this year I will wear jeans and a naice top. Previously I've worn a dress but I get too hot and hassled doing the dinner and then too cold walking the dog in the evening.
I'll dress up Boxing Day as it's with extended family, and then NYE is dressing up time too

If you're making an effort with the Christmas dinner though, doesn't it feel wrong to eat whilst wearing pyjamas ? I'm not judging just genuinely intrigued.

We have three generations staying from nearly 80 year old down to six in their early 20’s - we will all be in pj’s for the day - not Christmas ones but ones we buy for the day - always a big surprise as to what everyone has chosen - am convinced my DMil has Barbie design this year ! These are mine.

If you have Christmas at home, what do you wear?
Runoutofinkagain · 14/12/2023 22:39

I don't dress up throughout the rest of the year so like to make an effort on Christmas day so hair and makeup and a 'dressy' dress on. I think I would feel.wrong not doing it this way now. I don't mind what others wear but pyjamas at the table (other than for breakfast) would be unacceptable

mondaytosunday · 14/12/2023 22:42

If at home just me and my kids I don't dress up but I certainly get dressed! All that effort cooking, making the table look festive and decorated then just wear pjs? Nope.

Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic · 14/12/2023 22:43

PJs and then comfy clothes and a Christmas Jumper.

Yep that's my thought though I'm zénith that would only ever wear pyjamas in the day when ill

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 14/12/2023 22:48

Christmas or sparkly jumper dress with thick tights and slipper boots or Christmas sweatshirt with leggings or joggers and slipper boots .

BrimfulOfMash · 14/12/2023 22:48

Are there really whole families sitting down to Christmas Dinner in pyjamas?

Yes - three generations - although we have a cold buffet as no one really likes the traditional Christmas meal.

We did last year for the first time as I was 7-8 weeks pregnant with our second and I was incredibly unwell.

This year we definitely want to dress up. Feels strange eating Christmas dinner with PJS.

No hate to others.

Always get dressed up. Usually treat myself to a new Christmas dress, I make sure it's a comfy one. This is this year's dress. A coast dress for 12€ on vinted.

Omg I own that dress! Bought it for DS christening in 2013 unlikely to ever fit mr again but I will love it forever You will look fantastic in it!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 14/12/2023 23:41

I wear something nice, but not especially fancy. I find the pyjamas thing weird. Is it relatively recent? I would only wear pyjamas all day if I were really ill. It wouldn't feel right for a special occasion, even if we were not hosting.
