Christmas gift for DS' girlfriend help!

I need to find a jumper for DS' girlfriend (25). Easy-peasy, you'd think- but I am clueless here.

I have virtually no sense of fashion. I don't know where I should be looking- Jack Wills? Hollister? Somewhere more trendy?

She's a size 8 (I think. DS doesn't know) Works in an office, so something that would be suitable for that maybe? She usually wears a lot of gym wear (ex PT, ballerina) I've seen her wear pink and red (not together) and possibly pale blue. I don't think she'd wear something very frilly.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the 'right' place to shop? Budget around £50.

I would say

River island is trendy for that age and within your budget

mrboombasticwhy · 12/12/2023 13:38

If not one of those vouchers where she can choose from a few different shops

yes River Island or maybe fatface I know my similar age Dds love FF . just pick a jumper you like the look of and I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Mrsjayy · 12/12/2023 13:41

my Dds have not been into hollister for a few years .

TheFormidableMrsC · 12/12/2023 13:41

Have a look on ASOS. So many brands.

catchingzzzeds · 12/12/2023 13:42

A Nike sweatshirt?

MrsMitford3 · 12/12/2023 13:43

I think it is difficult without knowing anything about her style-what sort of jumper?
my DD, DIL, DS's GF all around that age and would not want a jumper from any of the shops listed on this thread-maybe Fatface but think very over priced.
Oliver Bonas, Abercrombie, Zara, Uniglo would be places to look from me

oh maybe, this is a good shout if she's into gym clothes.

In fairness, I haven't shopped there for DS for years either- those popped into my head because that's what he used to like years ago! 😂

I considered a sweatshirt/hoodie but DS specified jumper rather than sweatshirt- she's probably got loads of hoodies etc.

Hadn't thought of River Island or Abercrombie, I'll have a look there. I had a quick look at Uniqlo but might go back and have a more thorough look.

It's very hard- I've only got sons, and have never been stylish in my life! I do want to get her something nice.

yes I remember the jackets and other "bumf" that they liked I'm not sure it's in fashion anymore? I've bought 1 of my Dds an Icelandic Style jumper they seem to be in.

catchingzzzeds · 12/12/2023 15:37

Could your DS sneakily look at some labels in her wardrobe to see where she shops? And size?

PetrifiedForestNationalPark · 12/12/2023 15:45

Whatever you get, wrap it with the receipt and make sure she can change it- so tricky to buy this sort of thing.

This caught my eye- but not in that colour!. But style-wise- would this be a good style?

Seems old fashioned for a young person. I am Much older and would not wear this.

Baxdream · 12/12/2023 15:49

What about something like this?

skims.com/products/cotton-jersey-long-sleeve-t-shirt-soot

ImANameChanger01 · 12/12/2023 15:52

Yes to the Skims one that @Baxdream posted, or Zara. Plus add the receipt.

Definitely NOT that Weekday one, Fat Face, Jack Wills.

Good luck - such a tricky age to buy for when you don’t know their style so well!

And Other Stories is popular with a friend of mine who works in fashion

Lol 😂I did say I was clueless.

@Baxdream I think that's a bit t-shirty- DS has clarified it should be more jumpery (honestly it's the blind leading the blind in this house)

Even my Foster Son refuses to support Nike after the trans advert.

oh I have no clue about Nike adverts.

Baxdream · 12/12/2023 15:58

Who is saying it needs to be a jumper? Can your son pick one?

Skims is trendy albeit I accept it isn't a jumper but I don't think you can go too wrong

DuploTrain · 12/12/2023 15:58

Are you sure a jumper is the best thing to get?
Clothes are so hard to buy for someone else, especially if you’re not even sure of the size.

And she might not like it but feel like she has to wear it so you can see her wearing it, and then never wear it again..

Blossom1982 · 12/12/2023 16:00

Sweaty Betty for sports jumper or Zara for a work / office jumper. Just get something neutral / not too jazzy and can't go far wrong
