We're not a jigsaw-y family, but last Xmas really enjoyed having one lying around for everyone to pick away at.
Show me your favourite ones!
I'm on the hunt for one to please a family of adults

I'm glad you revived this thread MonkeyTennis34, as I was going to post on it myself. I kind of have SAD in reverse! I love the dark nights, rainy days and snow. In fact I realised the other day it was 7.30pm and still light. Did not like. So I came on the Christmas section to cheer me up and saw this thread. I haven't done a jigsaw in decades! I thought it was a nice idea so brought a 1000 piece Christmas scene jigsaw from Amazon. (Don't know how to link without posting my details, it was the: Vermont Christmas Company Christmas Cheer Jigsaw Puzzle 1000 Piece - Large Format Christmas Puzzles for Adults & Families - Fully Interlocking & Randomly Shaped Pieces)
I sorted through all the pieces for the corners and edges to start, and was thinking this will be easy. Wrong! lol I have bits of it done and they took me hours! lol I shall keep on trying though. It's something nice to do that isn't electronic.
Thanks for the idea. Xmas Smile I think it will take me to Christmas to complete it! Xmas Grin

I'm doing a Van Gogh. Feel my pain at his beautiful tiny strokes of paint.

We will likely spend next Xmas with our son. I'm already looking for the perfect puzzle to inflict on delight him!

I don't feel the urge at all to do a puzzle now the evenings are lighter. But it's definitely my new xmas thing!

Got to be a Ravensburger 1000 piece, I like the Colin Thompson ones. There's a Christmas one - https://amzn.eu/d/3oAoI73

I bought and did this one, it kept me going for ages!
I keep meaning to get myself another Ravensburger 1000 piece one but haven’t got around to it. I started another brands 1000 piece and it was just awful. Now this thread has popped up to remind me, I am going to look for another Ravensburger.

I have just completed Mayhem in the Library by Big Potato games which my daughter bought as a gift. 1000 pieces and 101 books to identify in the picture. It was fun after work with a cuppa.

I too have the reverse of SAD!
Love the cosiness the autumn and winter months bring.
As well as the clothing with less flesh on show!

That jigsaw looks great, have you figured out what all the books are?

RaininSummer · 09/04/2024 19:54

I found 74 of them before I looked online for solutions. I was pleased with that and there were a few where I said a different book which I thought equally valid. Jigsaws seem quite soothing whilst being the ultimate waste if time but it did stop me coming home and sitting on my phone for an hour.

I like listening to podcasts etc while doing a jigsaw. It might make them feel like less of a waste of time?

I liked one I got about 4 Xmas ago in my stocking of Downton Abbey. There were 3 puzzles of 500 pieces each. I quite enjoyed making them and DH and my adult kids all came and put in a few pieces while chatting to me.

RaininSummer · 09/04/2024 21:42

Podcasts are a good idea. I had forgotten about that as did listen for a while

MonkeyTennis34 · 10/04/2024 07:58

Jigsaws definitely get me off my phone AND my 15yo DD will occasionally join me (yes, she will actually be in my company willingly) in completing one.
