What would you leave out of your Christmas dinner?

I was debating this with a friend last night... If you had to leave out one element from your Christmas dinner, what would it be?

Choices are: Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, brussels sprouts or gravy.

I love sprouts, so I'd get rid of the stuffing.

pigs in blanket. I love them but would have them for breakfast instead (and some cold later in a butty).

Fifthtimelucky · 01/12/2023 19:52

I would quite happily do without roast potatoes provided that I had plenty of roast parsnips!

Stuffing. Bleurgh horrible stuff.

I love shredded sprouts fried in olive with bacon and chestnuts. It's my favourite bit!

You need to try my stuffing, not a box of Paxo in sight.

Titsywoo · 01/12/2023 19:53

Pigs in blankets. I'm not keen on sausages anyway.

Infertilitylady · 01/12/2023 19:55

Defanetly stuffing ! It’s disgusting 😂

catwithflowers · 01/12/2023 19:58

So funny reading all these comments. I love everything on a Christmas dinner. In fact there are very few foods I dislike full stop! Apart from mackerel weirdly 🐟. But that's unlikely to make an appearance on Christmas Day 😂

catwithflowers · 01/12/2023 19:59

Proper homemade stuffing and bread sauce say Christmas to me 🎄😍

Sausage meat stuffing is just wonderful!

I'm feeling faint imagining being served a Christmas dinner without roast potatoes 😂

This actually happened to me at MIL one year as she decided "the family eat too many potatoes"... on Christmas Day 🤦‍♂️😭

Jumbojem · 01/12/2023 20:47

The only thing I really like on the list is stuffing so I'd get rid of the rest! I'm veggie, hate gravy and don't get the love for roasties (unless perfectly crispy which most of the time they aren't).
My ideal would be veggie roast, roast parsnip, roast carrot, savoy cabbage or kale, stuffing and cauli cheese for some moistness. Yum yum!

fetchacloth · 01/12/2023 20:48

Definitely sprouts and probably turkey which has little flavour.

Devilsmommy · 01/12/2023 20:59

Pigs in blankets, hate them. Love sausages and love bacon but not in this way 🤢

I would be happy to get rid of the roast potatoes! Controversial I know. Love sprouts.

My son is strange like you too 🤣

Can’t imagine why anyone would dislike roast potatoes!

@Newuser75

Have you only had them boiled to within an inch of their lives??

cleaned up, coated in (olive) oil & roasted they are the food of the gods. Honest.

extra spectacular if off the stalk!!

did you not vote? Still showing 0% for brussel sprouts.

They’re really not.

Some people taste the bitterness in sprouts, and others don’t. It’s genetic.

I have tried sprouts cooked all different ways. DH once shredded them and stir fried them, like cabbage. I like stir fried cabbage, but I knew straight away that these were sprouts.

Iloveacurry · 01/12/2023 21:54

I love sprouts! I’d get rid of pigs in blankets.

SisterhoodNotCisterhood · 01/12/2023 21:58

I always leave out Turkey in favour of a nice roast beef joint.

LeakyPipes · 01/12/2023 22:01

Give me your sprouts and you can have my pigs in blankets. I'm keeping the rest 😁

Rainbowshit · 01/12/2023 22:13

Controversial but I never get the love for roast potatoes. I've never really liked them.

GettinChillyHereFFS · 01/12/2023 22:19

Turkey. And sprouts.

BebbanburgIsMine · 01/12/2023 22:56

Everything on that list except roast tatties and gravy!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/12/2023 09:45

Pigs in blankets.

lartghy421 · 02/12/2023 09:49

Most people saying they don't like turkey is because they are used to it dry. When cooked properly it's delicious
