What would you leave out of your Christmas dinner?

I was debating this with a friend last night... If you had to leave out one element from your Christmas dinner, what would it be?

Choices are: Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, brussels sprouts or gravy.

I love sprouts, so I'd get rid of the stuffing.

We don't have pigs and blankets. We have sausages and bacon separate and I really don't like the bacon swirl things

pinkspeakers · 01/12/2023 18:35

Pigs for me. Though the kids would riot...

troppibambini6 · 01/12/2023 18:37

Stuffing. Bleurgh horrible stuff.

I love shredded sprouts fried in olive with bacon and chestnuts. It's my favourite bit!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 01/12/2023 18:42

@MrsWhites
Hear hear!
And I'd also want parsnips, carrots and bread sauce.

SirChenjins · 01/12/2023 18:43

How can you even ask this question?! ShockNothing can be left out - it’s like asking which one of your children you want to leave out of Christmas.

TwinMummaX · 01/12/2023 18:45

Turkey

Blanketpolicy · 01/12/2023 18:50

I love sprouts! If we were having a Traditional Christmas dinner I wouldn't leave anything in your list out.

Bread sauce - that can definitely go! Wet white, gloopy bread - just why?????

I always leave the blankets out and just have pigs. Hate pigs in blankets. We just have nice chipolata sausages.

I always thought I was the only one! Love the pigs, hate the blankets!

Dogcatmousecat · 01/12/2023 18:52

Red cabbage….absolutely revolting!

None of them, they are all lovely!

Parsnips, on the other hand...😷

IStartWhereYouEnd · 01/12/2023 19:23

I don’t eat animal products so an easy choice. But I also hate stuffing so that can go too.

Chewbecca · 01/12/2023 19:25

Pigs in blankets are not essential to my mind, all the others are. Stuffing in particular, we have a homemade one only at Christmas and it is what turns the dinner from a regular roast to the Christmas roast.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 01/12/2023 19:25

Turkey, ide rather have more pigs in blankets, we always have beef or pork but I still do pigs in blankets

CirreltheSquirrel · 01/12/2023 19:25

Sprouts. 2nd choice would be turkey. Just pigs in blankets, various forms of potato and non-sprout veg would do me nicely.

mondaytosunday · 01/12/2023 19:26

Gravy.

IReallyMissPrince · 01/12/2023 19:28

Give me all the carbs and veg. The turkey can do one.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 01/12/2023 19:35

Roast potatoes. Mashed potatoes are superior and both together on the plate is too much. They'll suffice for leftovers though.

Pigs in blankets and sprouts are a once a year thing here so need to be included for tradition.

My grandmother forgot the gravy once. It was grim.

Deadringer · 01/12/2023 19:38

I have never had pigs in blankets, so happy to ditch those. In normal circumstances I don't like sprouts, but somehow they just work with turkey, so I will keep them Stuffing i can take or leave.

tokesqueen · 01/12/2023 19:39

Pigs in blankets. Salty and fatty.
Love turkey and sprouts.

Sandiegodreaming · 01/12/2023 19:39

Sprouts and Christmas pudding

ApolloandDaphne · 01/12/2023 19:42

I would be happy to get rid of the roast potatoes! Controversial I know. Love sprouts.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 01/12/2023 19:44

I couldn't possibly sacrifice any of it

I hate bread sauce though. Absolutely yuk.

Spidey66 · 01/12/2023 19:45

Sprouts. Vile things. My husband loves them, as does the dog. Last year the dog was farting sprouts all the way through Eastenders. I was trying to concentrate on Mick Carter's drowning, she kept putting me off. Sometimes I hate that dog (not really, I loves her).

ginasevern · 01/12/2023 19:45

Love sprouts, could eat just a plate of those on their own. Pigs in blankets can go. They're too salty and it's all too much meat with the turkey and proper stuffing.
