Any suggestions for new mobile phones please?
We ALL need a new smart phone (so, 3 of the buggers - argh...)
Android.
No idea where to start.
Budget - as cheap as possible really ...

We’ve bought iPhones - basically as new - from Back Market. Very impressed with them and significantly cheaper than new

recklessgran · 23/11/2023 12:48

Please help - 4 great nephews aged 10-12. No idea what to get them as they live over 100 miles away and we only see them about every 6 months or so. One of them is severely autistic and non verbal - he generally loves a squishy or other soft toy. The others like football, lego, army cadets - normal boy stuff? I'm fine with the girls - 3 great nieces as I have five of my own but I never feel I get it right for these lovely boys - their Mums always say it's fine etc but don't offer any suggestions - budget around £15 each. I'd be beyond grateful for guidance - what's the "in" thing at the moment?

HBZ287 · 23/11/2023 12:50

@recklessgran - a lot of boys that age like Minecraft. Do they? That could be a starting point if so.

OkyDoke · 23/11/2023 12:50

20% off on Yoto website, plus 10% more if you're a member of the club (£10 a month)

FollowerOfKushiel · 23/11/2023 12:55

Does anyone know of a discount or free delivery code for Next please? I want to get DS the kids light fragrance set, but I resent paying nearly half as much again for postage! - £4.95 on a £10 order!

I really like the Samsung Galaxy A range of phones. Not sure what your budget is but I think the most basic one is the A04s, which seems to be around £90-100.

Favouritefruits · 23/11/2023 13:00

@Amazonmulu it was in Sainsbury’s for £8 after the toy deal week, I doubt they’ve any left now but wouldn’t be paying £20

evtheria · 23/11/2023 13:00

Who was looking for huge baubles?
Poundland £1.50, limited colours/designs but will fill up a display nicely.

Thread 12 - the one where we're hoping for mega Hotel Chocolat bargains

I have a galaxy and it's ok. Been fairly impressed with Nokia too and the newer ones you can get repair kits for. XR ones are basically indestructible.

I’m sure I saw huge baubles in B&M the other day. We’re at least 20cm in diameter.

@FollowerOfKushiel it's free delivery to a store if that's any good?

Thank you so much to the people who posted the Papier and Gruum deals. My personalised notebooks just arrived and they’re beautiful. My Gruum postage only bundle arrived yesterday for my work secret Santa and it’s brilliant too. I love the recommendations from this thread, very grateful to you all!

The Fisher Price seahorses are really cute and light up. There are some on eBay. Although they might play a tube when squeezed and I can’t remember if you ca turn that part off it might so worth finding the instructions online to double check…!

I came on to suggest these My 5yr and 1yr old love theirs, it does play music, classic melodies and sea noises, its fairly chilled out though

My grandsons have asked for photos blankets (of their pets)
I usualy buy soft fleece blankets ( Xbox , pokemon etc) from supermarkets , which are thick and fluffy.
Looking online I am not sure of the quality of the photo blankets.
I would be interested to hear of any mumsnet experience and also recommendations of which online company to purchase from.
They are add on presents, so don't want to spend a huge amount.

handmademitlove · 23/11/2023 13:34

@54isanopendoor the Moto g32 is around £100 at the moment and is great as a basic android phone! We have a few of them and just bought a couple more for Christmas presents. Does the essentials - for us this means Google pay and geocaching 🙂

shinny · 23/11/2023 13:37

30% off some stuff on Joules so I got a too for £41 instead is £60 for my mum. Thanks to poster who gave me the heads up.
Has anyone had any joy on Studio delivery? I’ve asked for my money back now as ordered nearly a month ago and no message from them 🙄

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/11/2023 13:47

Zavvi are offering a Jurassic Park bundle - mug, bottle opener (dinosaur claw!) and Christmas jumper for £24.99

@54isanopendoor have you tried CeX for phones? I've filtered it down to Android phones for you in the link, you can then filter by brand, condition, price etc if relevant... I always get my iPhones from there as they come with a 24 month warranty as well, which is useful!

I would second a recommendation for Nokia. Mine was indestructible and the battery lasted ages. Would also recommend one plus. I've seen a few deals for them on amazon this week.

GlobetrottingPercy · 23/11/2023 14:04

I’m not looking for a deal but hoping someone can help with a recommendation 🙏🏼 I’d like to get DS a traditional fairy tale book suitable for me to read to him with a few pictures (Little Red Riding Hood, Gingerbread Man etc), has anyone got one that they would recommend?

GlobetrottingPercy · 23/11/2023 14:06

Also, apologies if this has already been mentioned but Royal Mail are doing their letters to Santa again this year. If your children send them a letter, they will write back to them. DS is too young to really appreciate this but one of you may get some use out of it!

Sallyfreckles · 23/11/2023 14:08

Urban Outfitters have got the Instax Mini 12 at £67 in their black Friday sale, plus sign up to emails for 10% off and it brings it down to 60.30, cheapest I've seen for the newest version. Taking the one I got from Argos back now!
