I have the following on my list for my just turned 17 year old boy - he won't receive it all but they're ideas under consideration! Would love to see your lists

Theragun (this I have bought already - managed to get one for under £100)

Xbox series X (hoping for another price drop)

iPad - his existing one is 5 years old and used daily

Nike Tech tracksuits / Fred Perry hoodie / Ralph Lauren tracksuit / Nike t shirts / Nike dri fit tracksuits

Fiddle cubes + toys

Home made sweets and crisps hamper

Crimpit

Where can I get the 2 for 1 Crimpit deal please?

BaconAndAvocado · 28/11/2023 08:28

Thanks VanGoghsDog
I've just ordered them!

DS2 17 has only ONE thing on his list......

He did say he's going to find some clothes he likes online.......12 years later 🤣

ViolaSmart · 28/11/2023 12:35

I have bought nothing for my son yet 😫 but he will at least be getting a Crimpet 👌😆

Whatnowfgs · 30/11/2023 01:18

@Cubic Could you link to the periodic table with bits of elements. Thanks

Beesandhoney123 · 30/11/2023 06:01

No crimpets here! Yet.

Finding it harder every year for ds. He reads but has a kindle so just gets what he likes. Used to love choosing books at the bookshop.

We don't do so many presents now they are older, it's gradually been all.about having a lovely day together. Sounds cheesy and now I wonder if I'm the grinch:)

gazingatgoats · 30/11/2023 07:13

Very similar to @Beesandhoney123 As they've got older it's become less about the presents and more about having a lovely day.
Student DD and DS appreciate the Christmassy food and drinks that they don't have to shop for and cook themselves. Youngest DD loves having her brother and sister home for Christmas and watching Christmas films together and playing board games. Last year I decided to cut down on presents and just do stockings, spend about £50 on each so still adds up to about £150 for 3 of them.
Haven't actually bought anything yet but on my list to buy for DS is: Crimpit! Keyboard cleaning putty, Sharkey multi tool, trainer wipes, Pringles cracker, extra hot sauce, a game ( One Night Ultimate Werewolf or A Shot in the Dark haven't decided yet) and a chocolate orange.
Thanks for everyone's ideas!

Thank you!!! Just got Shot in the Dark - been looking for something the teens and YAs can play with the grannies!

Young colleagues had a rechargeable hand warmer today - you can set and adjust the temperature. It was great and definitely going on ds list as he always complains about cold hands and usually loses gloves.

Something like this;

It was just off ebay, there are loads of them if you do a search. Just be mindful that not all have the elements in some have pictures of the elements and it's only some elements.

EwwSprouts · 30/11/2023 17:11

Thanks just bought Shot in the Dark.

gazingatgoats · 30/11/2023 19:15

Has anyone bought this magnetic game? It keeps popping up on Facebook ads but is on Amazon etc

Wondered if it was a good game or bit limited?

There is a couple on youtube (and i suspect tiktok) that play games for chores - loser does kinda thing. They have done this game. The magnets looked super strong, it is unpredictable and it looks like a game that can be played with a good age range because you are literally just putting the magnets into the circle with the goal of getting rid of the magnets in your stack, whilst avoiding gaining more when they "snap" together.

Not sure on longevity but definitely a novelty type game. I think i might compare it with something like stacking chairs. But i have just bought that as something else to do with the about 10yr - 80s yr old range.

We already had these magnets, bought them years ago at the science museum, so have started playing the game using a shoelace for the arena! The kids really enjoyed it, though it causes no end of arguments, but I'd say they're quite over it now, 2 weeks in....

I've got the same thing in different packaging for ds(19) Kluster
as we always get him a new game at Christmas.

The youtube videos of people playing make it look like fun - but it might be a short lived novelty to the Christmas period or he might take it to friends flats when hanging out (then it will get lost and never seen again). The one we got is in quite a small package so will fit in his stocking.

NormalForNuneaton · 02/12/2023 14:10

I've decided to get the magnetic game and let DS and DD open it Xmas Eve as its something we can all have fun playing, even the in-laws who are 80+

@wlv12 Last Christmas we managed to get my son tickets to see Polyphia in Manchester. Its about 3 hours away from us but was the only venue they played that was even nearly do-able. He didn't think for a second he could have gone, but we got him the tickets for the gig, booked a nice hotels, and he's always wanted to go to the Leeds armouries museum as well so we booked tickets for that and also later an escape room for the day after the gig. Made a proper fun weekend for him and his Dad. I printed all the tickets and itinerary and made a little flip book to wrap. He was over the moon and they had an amazing weekend away together. I feel like this Christmas will be disappointing when he opens socks and lynx, but there's literally nothing he's asked for! 🤣

Just reading through this thread and saw your comment...
We bought Polyphia tickets for our son last year too... Don't think we could think of anything to top that this year!!

My ds is loaning that his echo dot has terrible sound (I'm not surprised because it's so old),

I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on getting him a better Alexa or a Bluetooth speaker? He doesn't use the Alexa for anything other than music and I don't know what the sound is like on the echo shows or anything.

A Bluetooth speaker, definitely. The sound quality is so much better

Loving this thread.
Can anyone recommend a shampoo (or any other products) for a very curly haired teenage boy?
I'm a bit stuck for him and pretty much this whole thread would suit his brother.

Mine doesn't use shampoo at all, just conditioner for his curls, and swears by frizz ease dream curls, which I put in his stocking as a bit of a joke!

Amazon has an Anker Bluetooth speaker for about £20-25 ....it has around 35k great reviews

frecklejuice · 03/12/2023 13:06

@mamaduckbone & @NormalForNuneaton thanks for the recommendations definitely going to go for a Bluetooth speaker and I'll have a look at the one on Amazon. 👍🏼

Blanketpolicy · 03/12/2023 17:11

The recommdations for Anker speakers reminded me his Anker power banks stopped working with his iphone so have just added a wireless Anker powerbank which looks very clever. I didnt know they did them wireless.
