Would it be really mean to regift ds Christmas presents back to him?

I was looking for something in ds toy cupboard today and I realised it's absolutely full of stuff I'd forgotten he had. Some of it brand new unopened.

Things like unopened Lego sets and science kits, brand new felt pens.

He's got the memory of a goldfish and as we are already stuck for ideas I'm considering wrapping a couple of things back up for this year.

Of course he will still have other presents that he's asked for.

I'd regift them for friends birthday presents I reckon and use the money saved to get him something different! Wouldn't risk it jogging his memory! Kids never seem to open presents at the actual birthday party anymore so he wouldn't see it and remember.

Would you be happy if someone took something from your house, wrapped it up and gave it back to you for Christmas?

If the answer is no, don’t do it to your own child. Buy better gifts - and move away from the toys.

Why not? If the gifts are things he likes/ would use? I usually regift to other kids on the basis that if he's not even opened them he wasn't really that fussed and then that frees up money to spend on something he would like. Not unreasonable at all though.

I would sell them on Vinted or eBay and buy him a special experience or toy with the money 😊 I have 4 daughters and often get toys or Lego we already have so I do this or I keep and use as party gifts for other children especially with Lego sets.
