What do you do with your chocolates?

Maybe it's just us, but each year we buy tubs of wrapped chocolates, like Quality Street or Roses - or something a bit nicer Grin

I never know what to do with them. I want to put them out around the house so everyone can just grab what they want but I hate having the plastic tubs lying about.

Does anyone have any inventive ideas for putting out chocolates in a decorative way?

I did think of a large glass jar, like a biscotti jar. I am just worried it might be a bit heavy?

My optician has a fantastic large glass Christmas tree, that I covet for exactly this sort of thing (I have a pumpkin one for Halloween).

No-one knows where it came from, and I've never seen one for sale myself.

Very much like that - that's nicer than the range one... choices, choices :)

Namenumber3 · 16/11/2023 21:03

Every year : big cut glass bowls with Quality Steet , big wooden bowl with nuts in shells and a large metal bowl thing with grapes and satsumas in.
After Eights and dates how they come.

( there’s only two of us 😬)

I put quality street in a short glass vase but I bought some recently and they have switched to paper wrappers and it's just not the same!

Noooooo!

Luckily the Lindor are still in shiny wrappers, I think.

We've got a ceramic Christmas pudding where the white sauce is the lid. It's so cute.

That pudding jar linked is pretty cool 😎

Put them straight in your mouth?!
😁

Again!

I've already had to resist buying them now in case they don't make it to Christmas. Grin

I put mine in the Christmas train 🚂

I am so intrigued by this answer.

The Christmas TRAIN?

Mine don't last long enough to get into any container other than my stomach.

I'm going down a rabbit hole now and will end up buying something...

I may be going down the same rabbit hole 😂

I've always put Quality Street in a glass trifle bowl because they looked so nice and festive, but they've changed the wrappers and they look boring and shit unattractive now, so I won't buy any this year.

Mumaway · 16/11/2023 21:35

Festive bowl like everyone else. We also have a revolting/amazing plate on duck feet that we use exclusively for Lindor and try to keep away from the kids

Gloaminggnome · 16/11/2023 21:40

Ours must be divided into labelled kilner jars to ensure everyone gets an equal amount of the good ones or utter chaos ensues 🙈 It is pretty though!!

Floralovesflowers · 16/11/2023 21:50

I have a selection of glass & ceramic bowls but now want the Christmas pudding bowl!

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 16/11/2023 22:34

I eat them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/11/2023 22:42

I have a big heavy glass jar in the coffee table , miraculously it has survived our Female Cat who likes throwing things onto the floor (two fruit bowls shattered )

I'll get some Malteaser ones (pretty red wrappers) mini Toblerones and a tub of Heroes or Celebrations . No-one likes Quality Street or Roses.

Any left over get melted down into sauce or baked into chocolate brownies

smilesup · 16/11/2023 23:12

I hide them and once a day let everyone eat one. My teens would demolish them otherwise.

BerriesCones · 17/11/2023 00:23

I use Christmassy cake tins, but a large glass bowl would be nice too

ShufflingHedgehogs · 17/11/2023 08:45

This is a nice idea.

Normally they hang around here, stubbornly, until the very last one is eaten - around the middle of January. We all lower our standards more and more until we are prepared to eat whatever is left!

This intrigued me so much I went looking for 'plates with duck feet'.

Amazing.

(though it did also bring back lots of pictures of plated and cooked duck's feet; which was less amazing)

A crystal bowl, kind you make trifle in?

pizzaHeart · 17/11/2023 08:52

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/11/2023 20:16

😂. That's were mine go. I don't have them long enough to worry about how I'm gonna display them

I’m in your group as well. They usually on a shelf near where I’m sitting so I can pass them on or not depending on my mood.
I do have a small bowl about ramekin size to display some of them for a very short time occasionally.

PurpleWhirple · 17/11/2023 08:58

Few little bowls scattered around the house. I have some cute Emma bridgewater Christmas stuff that usually gets laden with quality street, lovely little star shaped plates.

Chocolates sitting around the house is actually what makes Christmas for me 😂

PastorCarrBonarra · 17/11/2023 19:04

I love seeing bowls of chocs in people’s houses in the run up to Christmas. Reminds me of visiting relatives as a child.

The original Quality Street wrappers were much better, agreed!

Thecomfortador · 17/11/2023 20:48

I have a tin that had biscuits from Debenhams I think originally, it's in the shape of a book (night before Christmas) and has a lovely picture of some mice hanging decorations on it. I mix a range of chocs for full shiny effect, although am sad about the quality street wrappers this year.
