Reastie · 03/11/2023 16:05

Thread title inspired by the 'it's time' Christmas trend as it's now time for Christmas now halloween is over!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

I have a question for everyone-
Do you think the ps5 will be in the black Friday deals?
My husband is desperate for one (he literally drops it into every other sentence) and I'm really hoping we can get a good deal if we hold out! :)

Cubic · 04/11/2023 18:05

@NightOwl101 we have had merlin passes for about a decade. We wouldn't be without them. They have changed in the last few years. You now have to pre-book (since covid) every visit although some places (Blackpool) are more flexible than others. Gold passes seem the best value. If anyone you would buy a pass for has a disability (needs a carer) have a look at the carer qualifiers, you may get one or two passes free for every visit the person with the disability goes to. There are some really good Facebook groups which may be worth a look.

Beware they get addictive. The hotels are fantastic and also become addictive.

We live near Manchester and feel they are good value.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/11/2023 18:05

Ah sorry @Notasockbandit

Can anyone give any advice on sylvanian family's? Whats the best sets to buy and does anywhere have them on discount? do smyths do blue light discount ?

thank you

Hi all of my kids ones are from FB marketplace- often people keep the boxes to resell as they tend to have an okay resale value.
Hits for us were the bakery and the cars.

Having paused looking at this thread to look at the savoury treats on Piglet’s Pantry, I carried on working through the posts and was most surprised to see that Sausage Elixir was being being suggested…. At first wondered what kind of interesting treat it was (anyone remember the Bacon Jam from a few years back?!) and whether it would work in a foodie hamper, or if people really wanted to pay to smell of sausage?

A second look meant I read it properly and discovered it was ParfumDream’s Sauvage Elixir - very different 🙄🤣

So if anyone sees any bargain eye tests, think it’s time to get my eyes tested!

Irritatedmum · 04/11/2023 18:09

Does anyone know if Lush will do offers for Black Friday or closer to Christmas? Just got a hint that my niece wants some and I want to get the most I can for her!

IggyAce · 04/11/2023 18:11

Successful shopping trip to Leeds, I’ve ticked our family Christmas pjs off the list. There was some nice Barbie items in Primark so got a couple of things for DDs stocking.
Also my crimpit order arrived today.

psuedocream3 · 04/11/2023 18:11

@Irritatedmum Unfortunately LUSH don't do discounts or offers, only the boxing day sale. ASOS sell some LUSH but they are always excluded from the discount codes. But if you go instore and have a chat with them when purchasing, they may give you some freebies.

ScarlettDarling · 04/11/2023 18:13

@captainflash Thank you, I think you’ve got it! Parfum dreams definitely rings a bell.
@uncomfortablydumb53 I’ll have a look at Notino too, thanks for the recommendation.

Another request for help/ideas.... my grandparents are in their 80s, don't go out much, don't need anything. I have zero idea what to get them.

Magazine subscription?

Tearsofthemushroom · 04/11/2023 18:13

When I ordered some boxers for free from On That Ass mentioned previously they gave me the choice of two other codes that I could use so I also got a free beauty set from gruum and a free case of beer from Beer52, just had to pay postage for both.

Beckafett · 04/11/2023 18:22

ThreeLeggedCat · 04/11/2023 17:28

The works or Amazon but big potato games have 20% off today with the code EARLYGIFT

CarrieMoonbeams · 04/11/2023 18:26

Someone mentioned on the previous thread that the National Trust has free postage until November 16th, using the code FEELINGFESTIVE.

I ordered a couple of little things this afternoon, and it let me choose Special Delivery 1-2 days as an option for free too. Just had an email to say it's been dispatched. Fantastic! Thanks to the PP who found that.

redjoker · 04/11/2023 18:28

Thanks so much for the Piglets pantry code, got my mums cream tea sorted for March (!) next year!

As far as I know lush don’t really do any offers other than their Boxing Day sale (sometimes a few days after Christmas). ASOS are now selling lush so you maybe able to get it cheaper there as the offer have money off codes?

RJnomore1 · 04/11/2023 18:32

The pickets pantry code is great unfortunately I live in the part of Scotland they don’t deliver to for no apparent reason - I’m not off the beaten track! Disappointed but really good bargains to be had.

LittleMousewithcloggson · 04/11/2023 18:36

@poostinkywink
Buy any cheap crackers you like that only have hat and joke in. Undo one end (cut whatever is tying it without cutting the cracker and then open it )
Then put in your own gift - eg lottery ticket, mini perfume, mini torch etc - and tie it back up
You can upgrade them by replacing whatever is used to tie the ends with a nice ribbon on both ends
You can also add in charades etc if you want

OnionBag · 04/11/2023 18:36

@dramalamma I had a big cart of items to buy from ulster weavers but the postage was £20 to the Channel Islands! I quickly abandoned the basket !

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 04/11/2023 18:51

Looking at Ulster Weavers their return address is in Manchester which is probably why a previous poster had to pay for postage in Northern Ireland.

Hope anyone who made use of the photobox free cards has received them. Really pleased with mine

It could be the wine but I’m howling at Sausage Elixir!
