I picked up one of my favourite things to put away for Christmas in my shopping today. It was a stollen - I absolutely love it!

What are your favourite Christmas foods?

All of it 😂 what’s not to love?! 😂

The whole traditional Christmas dinner 🤤

Also partial to a Christmas cake 😅 Heavy on the cherries and marzipan, a bit lighter on the icing, and add a big blob of Baileys thick cream 😬😂

Got to be a mince pie. Not an alcoholic one though. With decent pastry

Loafbeginsat60 · 02/11/2023 20:56

Christmas cake
Iced mince pie
Roast potatoes and gravy
Parmesan and bacon sprouts
Trifle (no sherry)

Loads of cheese and biscuits, especially Brie. Loads and loads of Brie with different chutneys. Not food, but love mulled wine too.

sipsqueak · 02/11/2023 21:16

The highlights of my Christmas feeding are:

  • Our signature turkey casserole made from the leftovers of Christmas roast dinner
  • Panettone in various forms
  • Morning coffee with Bailey's added
  • Evening mulled wine

StiggyZardust · 02/11/2023 21:30

Anything that has been cooked by anyone other than me!

lazysundaymorningcoffee · 02/11/2023 21:30

My dad's homemade stuffing. Things like cheese, pate, chutney

SaltySeaCat · 02/11/2023 21:31

Cheese for me too! All of the cheese!

Cabbagey · 02/11/2023 21:33

Nut roast. I'm not even vegetarian; it's just delicious, and Christmas is the only time you can buy a really good one.

dcadmamagain · 02/11/2023 21:37

pate on toast ( only time of year I eat pate)
Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs xmas day breakfast

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 02/11/2023 21:40

Christmas pudding with evaporated milk.

Duidi123 · 02/11/2023 21:43

Cheese, cheese and more cheese. I never buy nice cheese as DH isn’t as a big a fan as myself so I end up eating the whole lot myself!
I also do cocktail sausages with whole grain mustard and honey, granted these don’t need to be a Christmas only but see above reasons. Also my DM does the most amazing shredded brusselsprouts with smoked bacon and garlic, to absolutely die for!!

Where do you recommend buying a nut roast from?

TheNoodlesIncident · 02/11/2023 21:44

Caramelised nuts

As well as Christmas cake, Stollen, mince pies, trifle...

UsefulSmartPrettyHappy · 02/11/2023 21:44

Mince pies
Pigs in blankets
Toblerone
Chestnuts

WYorkshireRose · 02/11/2023 21:52

Alllll the panettone.

DesignatedRoom · 02/11/2023 23:46

The turkey and ham pie I make on Boxing Day. And the soup I make the following day. I enjoy both way more than the massive roast dinner on Christmas Day.

Robotalkingrubbish · 02/11/2023 23:52

Bubble and squeak, sage and onion stuffing, chocolate.

Gowlett · 02/11/2023 23:55

Posh chocs
Macarons
Baileys Cream

pizzaHeart · 03/11/2023 01:37

Cheese and smoked salmon.
There are a lot of “fancier versions”for both of them around Christmas

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/11/2023 01:48

Christmas cake. Also my mum used to make chestnuts wrapped in streak bacon and baked until crisp. Divine. I must make them this year.

MintJulia · 03/11/2023 01:58

smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for breakfast
sweet chestnuts with bacon
venison with blackberry sauce

Boxing day sandwich - wholemeal bread with turkey, stuffing & cranberry sauce 🙂

The whole opportunity to cook slightly more complex foods. And linger over them instead of rush.

3amShopper · 03/11/2023 02:44

Florentines.
Chocolate covered dates
Caramelized sesame nuts
My dad's honey glazed ham
Maple coated Pigs in blankets
Bellinis with proper peach juice

The theme seems to be things coated and caramelised here 😂
