Ordering a personalised gift and not sure which spelling I should use. What's your opinion?

I prefer Aunty

ApolloandDaphne · 01/11/2023 18:57

I would spell it auntie.

annabannan · 01/11/2023 18:58

Oh I fear this is going to a 50/50 result, lol!

I use Auntie. Could you just ask the person it is for what their family normally use?

AgentProvocateur · 01/11/2023 18:59

I agreed with @Pinkpinkpink15 and then I saw @ApolloandDaphne‘s post and agree with her…🤦🏼‍♀️

SwedishEdith · 01/11/2023 18:59

Think Aunty looks neater

TellmethestoryofO · 01/11/2023 18:59

Aunt - but if I had to say otherwise I’d use Auntie.

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 01/11/2023 19:02

It's Auntie .

annabannan · 01/11/2023 19:05

Aunt sounds old, I am but don't want to admit it, going with what they put on the baby shower invite, Auntie it is! Thanks all

Auntie.

Full disclaimer - I have a nickname ending in y/ie and prefer the ie version, so "y" jars!

All2Well · 01/11/2023 19:08

Yes, I'm an Auntie as were my Aunties and Great Aunties before me ... Aunty must have went out of fashion over the years.

EversoDisorganised · 01/11/2023 19:09

They all sound old (I was relieved to drop the title as soon as all the Dnieces were old enough), but I think Auntie is the nicest.

SweetBirdsong · 01/11/2023 19:11

Apparently 'Auntie' is American English, and 'Aunty' is British. There's no right or wrong. I do prefer 'Auntie' myself. Smile

NotTerfNorCis · 01/11/2023 20:23

I prefer Auntie but get called Aunty!

Abfab63 · 01/11/2023 20:34
