Ordering a personalised gift and not sure which spelling I should use. What's your opinion?

I'm an Auntie. Although my niece wrote my birthday card to 'Arnty' Grin

ForfarFourEastFifeFive · 01/11/2023 20:49

I have had a lot of aunties, and great aunties. They are all Aunty X.

magicscares · 01/11/2023 20:52

This is how I learnt it too:
Aunties- plural
Aunty- singular

BeatenByAScone · 01/11/2023 20:55

I'm an 'Aunty' when I send cards/gifts because it looks better with my forename ending in 'y'.

But almost everything I receive from the niblings says 'Auntie'.

WanderingWitches · 01/11/2023 20:58

Auntie

strawberry2017 · 01/11/2023 21:16

Auntie always looks right to me where as I think Aunty looks odd

Leeds2 · 01/11/2023 21:17

I prefer Auntie.

But I have four nephews/nieces, and they have always just called me by my first name. Which is fine by me.

Tote · 01/11/2023 21:43

Aunty

Although it's much easier buying greeting cards with Auntie.

Auntie

Duo2tu · 03/11/2023 07:37

The more posts I read on this thread the weirder the word looks either way!

I’m Aunty to my sister’s children and Auntie to everyone else I’m an aunt to.

fourelementary · 03/11/2023 07:40

I’ve literally never seen Aunty and if I did I’d have assumed it was wrong!! Every day’s a school day here!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/11/2023 07:40

Aunty

Aunties

ninetynineAu · 03/11/2023 07:44

Aunty. I was brought up with our family (English/Australian) has always using that spelling and I still prefer it, even if just on the aesthetics of the 'y' looking a 'tidier' finish than 'ie'.

Username917778 · 03/11/2023 07:45

I have never even heard of aunty!

Honeychickpea · 03/11/2023 07:49

I'd leave off the Auntie/Aunty and just use the person's name.

ChimpyChops · 03/11/2023 16:20

Nope because Auntie Jean is Auntie Jean not Jean? Weirdo 😂

And it's Auntie!

CoolShoeshine · 03/11/2023 21:20
