I can think of lots of things to get my DD for Christmas, but I can’t think of a ‘main’ present for her.

she likes music, art, skincare, books,TikTok trends.

I would really appreciate any suggestions!

thanks

Budget? I got my dd (who has similar interests to yours) for her birthday or xmas at 18 or 19 an Ipad Pro with ipencil for drawing, taking notes at uni.
Her 21st she wanted an apple watch.

SecondUsername4me · 20/10/2023 07:15

Cash?

electriclight · 20/10/2023 07:18

Headphones or earbuds, record player, fancy handbag or belt, lovely coat or jacket, Tiffany jewellery, expensive skincare or make up (Dior package up any purchased beautifully at Christmas, can create a sort of hamper).

Great ideas, thank you, but between me, her dad (separated) and her GPS, she hasist
of those things already.

Re fancy handbag. What is fancy to an 18yo?

Have you asked her?

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 20/10/2023 07:30

Hi, yes I’ve asked her. And she’s like a surprise 😔

Did she need supplies for art? Really good paper, tinted charcoal, decent paints etc can be very pricy!

BeetleDeuce · 20/10/2023 07:33

I got mine a Tiffany necklace - something simple and classic.

I also made them a hardback photo album of photos of them growing up.

gotomomo · 20/10/2023 07:33

If she's heading for university, a laptop if in budget, i second a handbag, dd had a radley one, she's still using it 5 years on

GoodVibesHere · 20/10/2023 07:34

Concert tickets? Theatre show maybe.

ThreeCanKeepASecret · 20/10/2023 07:36

The 'biggest' things I've bought my 18 year old are a Dreamland Husky blanket, a nice piece of jewellery and a hairdryer/straightener combo.

Like yours OP, she doesn't really 'need' anything so they are all nice to haves - I thought the electric throw thing might be good for uni as she's headed there next year.

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 20/10/2023 07:54

Mine have liked nice boots in a different colour, Dr Martens, Timberland.
A nice backpack
Does she cook/bake - a magimix?

Cinema pass?

Or big surprise of cash in envelope aa she has everything!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/10/2023 08:19

At that age I’d have thought they’d like a nice big fat wodge of cash as much as anything. And I wouldn’t buy anything ‘big’ for that age unless I knew exactly what they wanted.
In the past I’ve wrapped up the big fat wodge with something small I know they like, or will at least use - make-up, toiletries, edibles, book, etc.

Twimum23 · 20/10/2023 08:31

If she has a license a car that you all could buy

Rocknrollstar · 20/10/2023 08:40

Our GD was 18 last week and her parents bought her an ‘experience’. She’s going to spend the day with dolphins but I’m sure there are lots of options. DDs best friend always gets this sort of present - tea at the Shard, dinner on a boat on the Thames, membership of the Tate for one year. Maybe you DD would like a day at a spa?

mondaytosunday · 20/10/2023 08:49

Nice watch?

Sandysandwich · 20/10/2023 09:12

Can she drive? Does she need drivi g lessons?

mrssunshinexxx · 20/10/2023 18:21

What about an experience? Or to see a show in London ..

mrssunshinexxx · 20/10/2023 18:22

Gym / spa membership paid for a year?

SofiaAmes · 20/10/2023 22:35

Is she independent? How about a weekend trip to Florence to see the Uffizi.

BurntOrangeAutumn · 20/10/2023 22:57

Tiktok trends - White Fox hoodie or full tracksuit? They have a UK site now.

Re fancy handbag. What is fancy to an 18yo?

My 19 year old has asked for a Longchamp le pliage in a bright colour. The tote bag size ones are €120.

Might be worth considering if she uses a big bag for college/work.

electriclight · 21/10/2023 05:54

Beauty box subscription, vinyl subscription or spa membership depending on her interests. Festival tickets.

Regarding handbags I suppose the brand will be different for everyone but the teens I teach, and my own kids, would not be interested in Radley and consider it a brand for much older people.

I bought dd a Gucci belt and purse for birthday and Christmas last year, which she seems to love and uses almost every day.

Teens at school have prada and Dior bags which they buy at outlets.

ThreeCanKeepASecret · 21/10/2023 07:09

I never give cash. My parents have given cash as gifts since I was about 16 or so.

I would much rather have something that someone has thought about.

DD doesn’t need cash though, she’s probably got more disposable income than me 😂.
