Drunk Elephant skincare is not suitable for teenagers, apparently the actives in it are strongly geared towards anti aging and can damage young skin.

As a teenager all my daughter wanted wasbooks and music

It’s not, but they’re all obsessed with it. They mix it up in shops like a ‘smoothie’ and put it on as a concoction.

Supportyourlocal · 13/10/2023 23:42

Some suggestions for that age group
My DDs are obsessed with bikinis so maybe get some of them as you can get a few for £50. I probably would also say some leggings

gingeristhenewblack43 · 14/10/2023 13:13

I've just bought these to put away for DD11 (will be 12 by Xmas).

Make up remover pads £3.50 at Tesco with a clubcard.

Heatless curlers £5 at Tesco with a clubcard.

I had my eye on some heatless curlers in Next for £10 but friends have given mixed reviews as to whether they actually work, so I'll not be to disappointed if they are a flop for £5.

@Comedycook do you have a link to the jewellery kit? Sounds like something my dd would like

Passthecake30 · 17/10/2023 07:03

interesting reading about so many teenagers being groomed and wearing makeup! Dd is turning 14 soon and wears no makeup and only washes the visible dirt with a flannel😃. It’s her bday in nov and she’s asked for books, beads and crochet stuff. Xmas will be more of the same.

Comedycook · 17/10/2023 07:35

@Passthecake30 sorry I am totally useless and don't know how to post a link...but if you search 'zeyan jewellery making kit " on Amazon it is the first one to come up...£17.99. Hope that helps!

Passthecake30 · 17/10/2023 08:42

Thanks @Comedycook

CoffeeChocolateWine · 17/10/2023 11:37

Jewellery-making kit

Here's the link! My daughter has this one and loves it. And if she has a friend round they always end up using it! It's great but I am forever picking up or hovering up those bastard little discs! 😆

Namddf · 17/10/2023 14:45

Any ideas for Taylor Swift related gifts??

OnionBag · 18/10/2023 13:48

@Namddf I’ve bought this for 12yo DD
Taylor Swift: The Whole Story https://amzn.eu/d/aAG1ptm

RoyalImpatience · 19/10/2023 22:53

@gingeristhenewblack43 thanks for the tesco curlers

Thatsridiculous · 20/10/2023 00:30

Ok so far for DD13 I have:

  • fake Ugg slippers from new look
  • ring light
  • 3 x benefit mini’s for £30 boots
  • Make up brush set half price in boots
  • jammies
  • Hair oil
  • String lights for her room
  • Books including the Taylor one above (thank you! @OnionBag)

dd is only starting to like make up, she prefers to only wear a little, and only wears brow gel and clear mascara usually, so the benefit minis include that and the brushes will help when she has parties etc as she likes to wear a little eyeshadow then.

Considering straighteners too. Need decent ones for thick hair, hairdresser recommended the wider GHD’s but they are £199 😳😳😳😳

Thatsridiculous · 20/10/2023 00:30

Oh I also have a couple of adidas cropped hoodies from tk maxx

Isitthathardtobekind · 20/10/2023 10:09

i got my daughter one from M and S a few weeks ago. Think they go up to 15? (The sailor collar shirt)

Graciebobcat · 20/10/2023 10:16

Mine are 18 and 14 and like:

  • Face masks- peel off etc not NHS 😆
  • The Ordinary skincare
  • Lip gloss
  • Lip balm
  • Nail polish
  • Selection boxes (yes, still)
  • Hair stuff - rollers, brushes, clips
  • Posh shampoo
  • Money
  • Hot chocolate
  • Furry socks
  • Small handbags/clutch bags
  • Make up/toiletries bags
Lovemusic82 · 20/10/2023 15:52

I have 2 teen DD’s but neither really like make up or skin care. Dd1 has a lot of clothes and dd2 lives in joggers and hoodies. Both will be getting a Lego set but not sure which sets, I will look at the bird house. I might get Dd2 a bubble tea set, some sketch pads and a couple books. Dd1 is tricky so I will probably just pop some vouchers into her stocking.

FudgeSodaPops · 20/10/2023 17:11

@Graciebobcat Thank you for some of the ideas. What is the go to for posh shampoo?

Spacecowboy666 · 20/10/2023 20:09

My daughter likes Monday shampoo. Not particularly posh but “aesthetic” apparently.

cuthbertthecat · 21/10/2023 09:49

I own 2 14 yr olds who could not be more different.

Dd 2 is a bit of a nerd, bit goth and loves time alone. For her list I have:

Jewellery box from Etsy which she loves as it's a bit gothic
Days of the week socks
Yet more Sarah j Maas books (got those as a recommendation from here last year and she ADORES them
Goth t shirts and hoodies
A cactus or Venus fly trap

This is a mix of her list and ideas from me.

Dd1 is a lot more girly. For her I have no ideas yet! I have done hair stuff and make up before, her birthday is in jan and she wants a clothes splurge for that. She has various fairy lights/photo frames from prior years. There may be a book in the series she likes coming out so that's one idea. Pj shorts set always goes down well and maybe a Lego kit.

She has promised me a list though.

goodgriefsean · 21/10/2023 11:27

@Its5656 M&M direct have some juicy tracksuits for £40ish for the trousers and hoody. They're on my niece's wishlist.

cuthbertthecat · 22/10/2023 09:49

Ok dd1 has just presented me with a list so just in case it helps for ideas it included

Vinyl stickers
An alarm clock (ffs use your phone like a normal! DH has suggested we get her a teasmade ;))
Jewellery stand
Make up organiser
Body mist
Silk pillow case
Jewellery (will probably look for small studs as she wants a second piercing)
