This is what ive got my 12 year old dd so far.....still a few things left to get

Where did you get the personalised LED mirror from please?
And @Iwanthatone what LED mirror are you getting?
DD would like one and I was looking at the No7 one but it's pricey, found one on Amazon with good reviews apart from it being a bit flimsy which isn't ideal because DD would want to use it in different places 🙄

Validus · 15/10/2023 09:05

Dungeons and dragons

Blueuggboots · 15/10/2023 09:09

@Iwanthatone that's amazing but unfortunately not portable 😂
I'd quite like one though 😆

I’ve got him

A laptop (he’s not been allowed a ps5 or console or phone so this is the lesser of those evils and he’ll need for school next year anyway.

A ManU away jersey
A stranger things water bottle
Northface wallet with his first Revolut junior card, an Icecream shop gift card, cinema gift card, Mc Ds gift card

stocking fillers

Christ is this what you want to instil in your 11 year olds ?? Make up and clothes ?? What are you teaching them - a woman’a primary objective is to look pleasing. What a crock.

Let me guess - “it’s all they’ve asked for” or “ they’ve outgrown their toys “.

Nah, they are still kids and you need to allow them to be kids still. Go and buy your children some toys.

Maybe you could teach your kids to be less judgmental and aggressive.

Cable and cotton lights are good as well and they can choose their own colours

Both DC are getting a new suitcase packed with new summer clothes, local currency and a book about Mayan history. Hopefully this won't be a disappointment because the real "present" is that we're taking them on holiday to Mexico. They've wanted to go for years, it's been planned for ages and I'm bursting with excitement but we won't tell them until Christmas Day.

This is brilliant, what an amazing present. You must be so excited!

drspouse · 19/10/2023 23:35

Mainly Lego, some books (partly Lego themed!), possibly the new Mario game that just came out. He still likes teddies so likely one or two of those.
Just got some gingerbread duck soaps for stockings!

DD is almost 11, and as for skincare, hah! I’ve bought her some decent quality cleansers and so on, but she’s currently a bit of a soap dodger 😂 Reminding her just to wash her hair and brush her teeth is a chore at the moment!

She’s asked for crafting things, including a paper guillotine (!), art materials, and a bat detector.

So far, I’ve got:
art and craft stuff, including a (small!) paper guillotine;
glitter LED lamp;
flashing LED party light;
assorted books;
stocking bits and pieces;
couple of board/card games;
mini glitter crossbody bag;
long novelty cat pillow.

I looked at the bat detectors and they are about £80! Will hand that one over to DP for a decision!
Trying to think what DD might like for a “main” present. Maybe she’s too old for a big present now. DP thought maybe a raspberry pi. We’ll have to see, but tbh we’re doing a couple of nice Christmas activities including a theatre trip, so I’m inclined not to get much more and maybe to not spend £80 on a bat detector!

And actually I kind of agree with the poster who said these are kids, and should have toys and activities, not makeup and skincare. They have all their lives ahead to think about their appearance. It’s sad to see 12 year olds, who are really still children, conforming to a culture dominated by commercialising women’s looks. Hyaluronic acid on a preteen’s skin would be more likely to give them a serious skin reaction than anything else! Isn’t it our job to gently steer our girls away from the beauty industry at this age? Boys at 12 are still asking for sports kit, Lego and slime pots, if my 12 y o nephew is anything to go by!

Even if they don’t play with toys, there are plenty of fun crafting kits, interesting bits of equipment, games, all sorts of stuff to do that aren’t too old for them. At 12 it’s the last bit of their pre-teenage childhood to enjoy. Why rush them growing up even faster than they already do.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 05/11/2023 17:01

11yo DD wants a squishmellow, sonic screwdriver, crochet stuff and a jellycat.

Shes not into makeup, unlike my 9yo DD who has never liked toys, but when I asked if she would be interested in perfume she said yes. She’s started to use toiletries and skincare products and take an interest in smelling nice. She loves Dr Who so has quite a bit of Dr Who themed bits including a diamond art set. We’ve also got Comic Con tickets for all DDs.

Other things I looked at were driving experience and skiing lessons.

EquinoxVOx · 05/11/2023 17:16

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS I'm looking at skiing also, perhaps snow zone place

unhingedminge · 05/11/2023 17:20

Stompythedinosaur · 29/09/2023 20:43

So far we have tickets to Wicked, a cat shaped gem shelf, a mocktail book, calligraphy pens, a headphone headband (comfy for listening to audio books at night), a nano block red panda, a Borgins and Burke's t-shirt and some books (The Hunger Games series and Tress of the Emerald Seas.

I am thinking of a laptop as a fairly big gift, because I think she'll need it for school next year.

I think I want to be your daughter! But seriously they sound like lovely gifts!

I’m struggling with my similarly aged DD’s. DD 11 & SD 13. I was going to get them a Nintendo switch each but as SD is only here on weekends and various other things she’s been bought haven’t been bothered with, I’m wondering whether to just get one for them to share 🤔

They’ve both recently gotten their ears pierced so earrings are an obvious one. Both asked for an Oodie type garment, DD has asked for the new Harry Potter almanac and some Lego. She’s also got some wooden models, pyjamas, a pamper set and an ice cream maker.

SD is sooooo difficult to buy for, she’ll ask for specific items of clothing which will then remain in their drawer with the tags on 😬 we got her a tablet last year and I think I’ve seen her use it twice. Same with perfumes etc, they sit in a drawer unused. She doesn’t read books, not particularly interested in crafts, the only thing she does seem to be interested in at the moment is her phone 😬 anyway, I’ve got her a nice new coat, some trainers, a Pandora bracelet and a charm and was wondering about some skincare if anyone had any recommendations for a good teen, skincare range that isn’t too stupidly priced . . .

Legselevens · 06/11/2023 07:12

football things, grown up lego, music, ear pods

Not sure where you are but I was looking at Chill Factor Manchester. They do kids vouchers for a one off session for skiing and snowboarding.

AllWeWantToDo · 06/11/2023 07:58

12 year old has asked for clothes
Almost 11 year old wants a switch

I'm 45 and way back when I was 12 I didn't want toys , it's not a new thing for 11/12 year olds not to be interested in toys
