I'm just trying to to think back.

I know recently it was PS5, Gaby's Doll House, the Guinea Pig.

When my kids were young it was Furby's and Fingerlings.

When I grew up 80/90s I can only remember my dad driving around trying to find me and my siblings a Tamagotchi.

I don't remember struggling to get a Tamagotchi, but I do remember everyone in my class having one - sometimes more than one 😂 so I imagine they must have sold out at some point!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 21/08/2023 13:59

Cabbage patch dolls. So grim. I loved mine.

YellowReadingLamp · 21/08/2023 14:00

Buzz Lightyear!

TheDuchessOfMN · 21/08/2023 14:00

The Frosen Elsa doll and a JoJo Siwa doll. Probably about 10 years ago now?

AndrexPuppy · 21/08/2023 14:01

Tickle me Elmo

NeverSayFreelance · 21/08/2023 14:01

According to a relative, these things were impossible to find. No idea why! I never could figure out the solution.

Game boys in the early 90s!

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 21/08/2023 14:02

Pink Nintendo DS consoles around 2007/08. All the mums of the girls in DD2's ballet class were scouring the shops for them.

Thinking back it wasn't at Christmas was probably when they were just released.

Ohh I had three. I can remember what they looked like and their names. Probably too young to remember them selling out though.

Quiet recently maybe 2/4 years ago? It was the LOL surprise dolls? I think it was a big egg shaped thing with mini dolls inside- I worked at Asda and remember the chaos when we got one or two in stock.

Shortpoet · 21/08/2023 14:07

LOL dollhouse think it was 2018.

I bought a reserve code for Argos off someone in eBay and drove 20 miles hoping to god I hadn’t been scammed £20! (I hadn’t it worked)

YesItsMeIDontCare · 21/08/2023 14:09

Really showing my age here, but didn't the Tracey Island Thunderbirds toy sell out to the point that Blue Peter showed people how to make one?

Merapi · 21/08/2023 14:11

Some years ago a colleague of mine regaled me of tales about his crack-of-dawn exploits in a queue outside ToysRUs in order to find a Tinky Winky toy.

He got one in the end, but not after having to explain to a perplexed police officer why he and his BMW were lurking suspiciously in a car park at 5am. 😂

hdbs17 · 21/08/2023 14:13

I definitely remember Furby's being a sell out toy in the 90s - and cabbage patch dolls. I wanted neither and got both because my mum was told "every kid wants one of these" - I never played with them.

AndrexPuppy · 21/08/2023 14:16

Yes to the talking TinkyWinky @Merapi, I ended up getting the yellow one (Dipsy?) for DD instead.

MumofSpud · 21/08/2023 14:18

Early 2000s - Bey Blades
My friend called me at work saying Smyth's Toys had them in so I got her to get me one DS

I had a friend who was a retail security guard in Canada when the cabbage patch dolls cam out - he was at the front of the shop when the doors opened and he got trampled on in the stampede and ended up with a broken arm!

thebestsellingshow · 21/08/2023 14:21

I remember driving around trying to track down a singing and dancing Iggle Piggle for DD around 15 years ago! I got the last one in town!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 21/08/2023 14:24

I never did get Scampi.

Bookworm12345 · 21/08/2023 14:32

Octonauts around 2010-11. The TV programme was a huge hit and there was no merchandise available at all! I remember trying to find knitting patterns to make a character for dc1 but to no avail 😆

LoonyLois · 21/08/2023 14:55

Tracy Island! I too remember the Blue Peter do it yourself

I’ve got a feeling Tiny Tears was one year too

Frozen, obviously

Also, the giant hatchimal egg

That was when my now teen dd was 6 or so

kwetu · 21/08/2023 15:07

Buzz lightyear , teletubbies , furby and those little robo dog things, when my eldest were little.

hauntedvagina · 21/08/2023 15:08

Teletubbies, Wii Fit board, PS5, Nintendo DS have all caused me significant problems over the years!

LifesIsABeach · 21/08/2023 15:11

When I was a kid it was

Tamagotchi
Furbys
the buzz and woody dolls
