Here's our new thread. Almost missed that it was needed!

Can somebody add the countdown again please, as I've no clue! 🤣🤣

We call cellar spiders daddy long legs - the ones without wings but look the same. I’m pleased your mum is home, hopefully she gets stronger quickly.

I’m so tired. Yesterday I woke at 3:30 and today 4:30 as both times I needed a wee. Monday I had awful cystitis but managed to flush it out mostly, still irritated though, I need to keep drinking more I think.

Today is my last day in my job too and dd is coming home from her school trip, no phones allowed so haven’t spoken to her since Monday. I will probably be asleep by the time she’s home though 😂

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 22/09/2023 06:36

Have a lovely last day Wreck (as good as work can be anyway).

It is my last day on the ward today and we are having a mini party type thing. Aka stuff ourselves with crap 😂

WreckTangled · 22/09/2023 07:12

We are doing the same 😅 and I have nothing in diary. Enjoy your day too!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/09/2023 07:34

Morning!

Another wet start to the day, so I'm rather damp after the dog walk. I've had a cold all week and I'm not sure that getting wet helps, overly. I also had my flu jab yesterday, but so far no ill effects!

I have way too much to do today. Dreading it! 😩😩

Enjoy your last days, Why and Wreck!

Ooh exciting @Lalanbaba!

Glad your mum is home from hospital @CrazyBaubles

Have good last days @WreckTangled & @whydoesitalwayshappentome

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 22/09/2023 15:00

I swayed between sad to be going and happy to be going. Reading the card nearly tipped me over the edge but a reasonably sedate shift with not too much aggro, shit or urine 😂 Always a result with no bodily fluids. I won't miss that.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/09/2023 22:45

Hope your Mum is improving Crazy , is she happier now in her own bed ? I know loads of people really struggle with being in hospital . Others feel safer as there's medical care on call . Make sure you get some rest yourself .

Wreck hope your last day was good and your DD enjoyed her trip . I know when mine went on their Yt 6 trips they came home knackered Grin

whydoes you won't miss the piss then ? Grin . Glad you had a good last day ,

We've had some thinder , lightning and biblical rain ! Tomorrow looks better ( I have loads of washing to do )

I bought one of those Terry's Chocolate Mint , I got him to sample it as if he likes it , I;m sure these are limited . If he doesn't then I've saved myself buying more . He was undecided but said it was nice , like Matchmakers with np crunch .

WreckTangled · 23/09/2023 07:43

93 dd did not enjoy it at all but she survived. We didn’t get home until 12. She’s year 9 but it’s the first trip she’s been on due to covid. Ds is in y6 and going on his third residential next year!

Its a lovely autumnal morning - sunny and a bit chilly. I really need to start Christmas shopping but haven’t got much money, haven’t managed to save any. I’ve tried looking at the bargain thread but I don’t have time to keep up and most of it is irrelevant to me or people asking for recommendations. I used to keep up easily when I didn’t work as many hours.

WreckTangled · 23/09/2023 07:45

Oh I did but three Terry’s mint things. One for dd to have now and two for stockings. I’ve also seen they’re doing their chocolate oranges with popping candy in so I’m going to get them one of those each too and one for me

NoWordForFluffy · 23/09/2023 07:48

Morning!

Our school doesn't do a residential until Y6, so DD has her first next year. It's only 2 nights.

It's similar weather here, Wreck.

I'm at a loss for DD's Christmas presents. DS is easily-pleased with Lego. DD just loves books! But they're quite a personal choice. 🤔 I've asked DH's mum to see if DD likes her Kindle, as that would be an option.

We're going to have very little money if we move house, Wreck. It'll totally wipe our savings out. 😬 We hopefully find out this week if it's happening.

WreckTangled · 23/09/2023 08:04

Fingers crossed for you! Moving is so expensive. It’ll be worth it though.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/09/2023 08:54

We've been here 9 years, so packing is going to be 'fun'. 🤣

WreckTangled · 23/09/2023 09:13

I know exactly how you feel! We hired a skip when we moved out

NoWordForFluffy · 23/09/2023 09:23

We're only a mile from the tip. I imagine DH will be on first name terms with them!

Fluffys Christmas Card List will now include "Surgeon" and "Bloke At The Tip" Xmas Grin

Monday will be Rudolph Day again.

I bought some items for DD and DS Dec 1st Boxes
I need to buy DD pyjamas and socks/underwear but not seem any nice ones yet ( though to be fair I haven't been looking ) I got DS Tshirts/lounge trousers from Primark and Sainsbury .

Going to stalk the Black Friday listings for DS present -he has a Dec birthday and depending on how much his present is it might need to be a joint birthday/Christmas one (he'll cope ) we've only done the joint present twice , his 18th and 21st as they were ££.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/09/2023 09:02

It's been an unusual year for the people I've had large amounts of contact with, 70. We should probably include 'Hospital Receptionists' and 'Physio' in your list! 🤣🤣

So very much autumn here now. The chill in the air is not appreciated! 🥶 🍂 🍁

I need to go to the allotment. Weeding is needed and I need to feed the birds. At least from next weekend I'll be able to shift the piles of weeds I've been creating, as the 3 months of 'nothing heavier than a cup of tea' ends tomorrow. It's been a looooooooong 3 months!

cant believe it's so little time to go 😮
DH took DS to Screwfix live yesterday and came back with some 'bargains'. Tbh DS will love the cap torch - it's a tiny led that clips onto a baseball cap.
I got him a wood engraving set from Aldi so it looks like DS has officially moved on from Lego to tools. Not really, he still loves Lego

CrazyBaubles · 25/09/2023 16:43

Glad you both had good last days Wreck & why

Fluffy when we moved DH went to the tip every other day for a few weeks because it's 5 mins from where he works. Pretty sure he was on first name terms with them by the end Blush

Screw fix live Granny? I've never heard of it but I'm pretty sure it's something my dad would love.

I've spent part of the day working from dm's house as no one else is calling in today but I think she's overdone it the last day or 2 so she's exhausted today.

Plus, I have some sort of bug myself (currently testing negative for Covid for now though).
My throat feels like I've swallowed broken glass and I'm tired. Throw in the odd hot flush and it's all fun and games here 😫

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 25/09/2023 17:29

@CrazyBaubles hope you feel better soon (and it isn't COVID).
Screwfix live is an annual event held at the Farnborough airfield conference hall. You register and get a bag of freebies and can buy tools and things at a discount. Plus there are games inside to win more things.
A friend and I went on Friday and got a high vis vest, WD40 cans, first aid kits, pens with a level in (and chocolate, lots of chocolate)

CrazyBaubles · 26/09/2023 14:33

Somehow the countdown is on 90 Xmas Shock

Not much to say really. Covid test remain negative but I'm a snotty, tight chested, squeaky voiced mess.
Still going out to see a band tonight though...

On the plus side, dm is feeling loads better today and has been using her time to do loads of admin and phone calls that she's put off for ages.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/09/2023 18:42

Evening!

We seem to be rattling through the countdown now. It's always slightly bonkers how fast it goes once the kids are back at school!

Is everyone prepared for Agnes? It's going to get a bit breezy!

I'm waiting for Booths' Christmas food. Not too long to wait!

Looks like we'll swerve Storm Agnes looking at the map.

I just informed by PFB (Precious First Born) it is 90 Days .....his answer was "And ?"

Seriously beginning to wonder if we are actually mother and son ......Xmas Hmm

Morning!

The day has started calm, pre-Agnes. 😬 It's going to take a turn from lunchtime apparently though.

It was a nice dog walk this morning. 🐕
