Anyone else waiting or not feeling it this year?

Usually, like my fellow Christmas enthusiasts, I’m well on my way to stocking up for next Christmas, this year though, I’m just not feeling it. I bought a couple of decs in the January sales, but that’s it and compared to other years it was literally nothing. Last year I was forced to hold out due to a big house move but I was still picking up lots of little bits I could “justify” somehow in buying. This year no reason like that, but I’m just not getting into it.

I did notice that there weren’t as many sale items this year, that definitely put me off. Even recently I was walking round and saw ex Christmas stock, but not being reduced, again I thought what’s the point of buying and storing if not getting it reduced.

Any one else feeling like this?

My DCs are getting older so not as easy to “predict” their wants, but they still have certain hobbies and interests that don’t change that I can usually buy for. I’m really hoping this passes as I pride myself on being super organised for Christmas. I’m giving myself till the Amazon Prime sales in July 🤞 it gives me my Christmas boost.

Before anyone starts moaning, I’m posting this on the Christmas board, so don’t comment if your only going to moan about how far away Christmas is,

I'm not sure I know anyone who starts Christmas this early so maybe I'm missing something.

Leave it til after the summer and enjoy life.

Lcb123 · 23/04/2023 22:19

Perhaps enjoy the moment and appreciate today

OutDamnedSpot · 23/04/2023 22:20

Not feeling it this year?! I don’t expect to even consider it for at least six months!

backinthebox · 23/04/2023 22:25

I start in late November, although a regular annual competitive event the last weekend of November has meant the last couple of years I haven’t started till early December. Feeling Christmassy in April would drive me mad.

Coffeeandbourbons · 23/04/2023 22:28

It’s not about feeling christmassy it’s about thinking ahead and buying in sales throughout the year so you don’t end up paying silly prices because it’s November/December

I don’t go mad with it but I pick up the odd thing if I know somebody would really like it and it’s on offer or in a sale

Rainydaysgetmedown · 23/04/2023 22:28

It’s April. Nobody feels Christmas in April

CrapBucket · 23/04/2023 22:31

I don’t know what the world will be like by Christmas, generally and also I don’t know specifically what my family will be doing/if DS will go to uni etc.

So I guess I will leave Christmas plans until later in the year. I’ve cut out lots of waste and tat in my life so I’m not bothered about buying anything either.

MiniEggsAllYear · 23/04/2023 22:34

It's April?

PickleOfAConundrum · 23/04/2023 22:34

Its only April but this year already has flown in and believe it or not I'm actually looking forward to Xmas this year. I've started to buy wee things to put away. My wee grandson is a Xmas baby too so I think that's part of the reason to get super excited for his first birthday. I think you'll start to feel more Xmas in time and maybe making lists might encourage that excitement. That's what I'm doing and just loving seeing the ticks I've done so when Xmas comes I'll not be so stressed out and can enjoy it more so with my loved ones!

Cas112 · 23/04/2023 22:35

It's spring..

ReadersD1gest · 23/04/2023 22:36

Of course you're not feeling it, it's bloody April Confused

Gotafaceon · 23/04/2023 22:37

Wait what?! enjoy spring first

Alwayswonderedwhy · 23/04/2023 22:37

No I'm not feeling Christmas. It's April.

SallyWD · 23/04/2023 22:41

I absolutely love Christmas, always have done, but I never think about it in April!! In April I'm thinking about what to plant in the garden, getting excited about summer and planning little weekends away. Christmas doesn't enter my mind in April!

Lamelie · 23/04/2023 22:43

Please please enjoy the moment. I love Christmas- I also love Easter, Midsommar, Halloween, Bonfire Night…
Life is precious, don’t wish it away.

Catshaveiteasy · 23/04/2023 22:46

I start thinking about Christmas in late November / early December. Find it all stressful and depressing (the build up, not the actual day) so prefer not to think about it until I have to.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 23/04/2023 23:14

O so many people who can’t read 🤦‍♀️

This is the Christmas thread, if your not into it. Happily pass on by…

So? It's still April.

I moving house in a week and one of the biggest selling points, for me, is the lovely big bay window that I'm imagining a big sparkly Christmas tree in. Covered in lights, bit of snow on the ground. My husband told me I was mad for thinking about Christmas so soon. I won't start thinking about shopping till October/November. It's been a long winter for us and I'm looking forward to the bit of sunshine and warmth summer will bring.

I do however run my own small business and I have to start thinking of Christmas collection planning and organising in August. Especially booking in Christmas markets and fairs. 🎄

Haha when looking at houses this is my biggest selling point. I love my bay windows and high ceilings purely because of my Christmas Tree. When we’ve looked at moving, it’s top of my wants in what I want for a house. It dosnt have to be on external display but I want somewhere spectacular to display a tree.

I feel the same. My Christmas cupboard usually has a fair bit in by now but empty this year!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 24/04/2023 01:42

Good God no. I want to enjoy summer first.

TheShellBeach · 24/04/2023 01:44

I prefer to have my summer holiday and see the first four episodes of Strictly before I get the Christmas tree out.

EconomyClassRockstar · 24/04/2023 01:51

I think that "maybe" you are not feeling it because your kids are not little anymore and your priorities have changed. Enjoy April for what it is!

EconomyClassRockstar · 24/04/2023 01:52

Now I've fully read the OP, I am laughing that we all clearly didn't read the last paragraph.
