Next year I'm going to ponce like my life depends on it

I have a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, came down with covid just before Xmas and have had a lot of other stuff on, so this year I was pleased just to get presents and dinner done.

Next year I have ambitions to ponce like I've never ponced before. The kids should be somewhat easier ages for it. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway.

Can I see photos of your best Christmas pouncing from this year? Fancy tables, DIY wreaths, elaborate cakes, magazine-worthy wrapping, tastefully perfect trees (the decorations have gradually migrated to the top of mine as every time the baby takes one off we put in back on higher). I want to live vicariously through you.

Google says a ponce is a man who lives off a prostitute's earnings or a pretentious , affected, or effete man.

Perhaps it means something different in the OP's locality

I bought the Corrine Lapierre 12 days of Christmas felt kit, it’s still sitting unopened. I’ve promised myself to sew one each week after Christmas then put them away to ponce with in December

I will also be planting more paper whites, I only did five in a glass vase with pebbles at the bottom, they flowered a bit early so are slightly past their best. I’ve got some in the greenhouse which I want ready for Easter.

I had lots of plans for poncing of the handcrafted sort, most of which I was going to put into place in the last few days leading up to Christmas...of course we got horribly ill too. So very little has got done in the end - we didn’t have Christmas dinner or anything today. But i had time to put up the (tasteful ) outdoor lights, a ponced up supermarket wreath and a Scandi-style basket of greenery on our gate. Haven’t got photos of those, though.

I’m gonna make my own crackers.

Bloody hell my dyslexia is playing up today. I read that as nonce 😳. But yes my ponce is losing my excess weight through hard work and dazzling everyone in my new clothes and shoes on the school run 😁. Nice corset and thigh high boots 👀😁😍

Should be our homemade cheese straws cut into Christmas shapes and salt dough decorations that me and DS made for the tree.

Not mine, but PIL’s neighbours. This is reasonably typical for suburban Michigan and I fucking love it. A stroll around the sub of a Christmas Eve is a total joy. Living in a small terrace in London we’ll never replicate it but I so love to see all the festive effort here.

My poncing efforts for next year will start in January-I've got a load of needle felting gear for Christmas (Asked for.) so I'm going to try my hand at that. (Lots of snowmen, and baubles to make. ) :)

I would maybe lower your expectations for next year, we all came down with covid last year - today it's a different but equally awful bug and I'm glad I didn't build it up at all. We're having a nice day in bed snacking and dozing on and off.

Me too, was thinking of how many different people you could visit so you don't have to shop/prep anything yourself

That's gingerbread as in cookies and houses.

Has anyone explained what ponce means yet? I feel totally lost.
