i left it to DM to decide as a large turkey is expensive and nobody likes it much anyway - we prefer chicken
so we have chicken
my ds, who is cooking, is disappointed.
this is the first year apart from the 15 vegetarian years when i havent had turkey

what meat are you having?

StrawberryPot · 25/12/2022 08:50

Goose here as usual (to be cooked by DH). And nut roast for me.

LadyKenya · 25/12/2022 08:50

Chicken🐓

pompomdaisy · 25/12/2022 08:50

Lamb for us. Quorn roast for the girls.

DementedPanda · 25/12/2022 08:51

Steak

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 25/12/2022 08:51

Lamb at my Dad’s request. He’s having surgery for oesophageal cancer in January so it’s probably his last roast dinner for a while.
He got carried away at the butcher’s and we have 5kg lamb to feed 6 people. Looking for good leftovers recipes

Doyouthinktheyknow · 25/12/2022 08:52

Pork here.

Normally have beef but fancied a change.

KangarooKenny · 25/12/2022 08:53

We’re having a 3 bird roast. Turkey is too expensive.

KittensNotMittens · 25/12/2022 08:53

Salmon.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 25/12/2022 08:54

Chicken here!

My SIl always does a huge filet of beef.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 25/12/2022 08:55

If we do not do chicken we will do a goose usually.

romdowa · 25/12/2022 08:55

We will have roast beef. I can't stand turkey 😫

trilbydoll · 25/12/2022 08:55

Chicken and DH has a 3 fish roast which judging by the size of it is a salmon in a shark in a whale.

Poshjock · 25/12/2022 08:56

We’re having dinner out and it’s a carvery so there will be Turkey, beef and ham available.

I am following a reduced meat diet now so I will likely choose the vegetarian option though.

AuntieMarys · 25/12/2022 08:56

When I used to eat meat, I cooked shoulder of lamb. Could leave it in the oven and go out drinking....home at 3 to lovely smells!

EmergentThoughts · 25/12/2022 08:57

KittensNotMittens · 25/12/2022 08:53

Salmon.

Same!

Boopear · 25/12/2022 08:58

Venison. It's what 🎅 would have wanted..

Cassillero · 25/12/2022 09:00

We're going out and I've ordered belly pork. Cannot wait! Really hope the crackling is both generous and crispy 😋

Tippletoomany · 25/12/2022 09:01

chicken, pork and gammon for us. free range organic turkey is pretty much over £70 for a decent size one whereas a free range chicken was £16. why would i bother!!

cyclamenqueen · 25/12/2022 09:03

We haven’t had a turkey for years . Generally a pork loin on the bone or 4bird roast ( which does obviously have turkey in it )

Pascha · 25/12/2022 09:03

Rib of beef is waiting in the fridge. Unfortunately we are in the midst of a power cut so it may well end up being cheese and crackers Xmas Hmm

Xanadu58 · 25/12/2022 09:03

Chicken 🐔

MagentaRocks · 25/12/2022 09:04

Slow cooked lamb and roast beef for the meat eaters. Vegetable pie for the vegetarians. Roast potatoes, stuffing, parsnips, carrots, peas and Yorkshire. Eating about 4pm. Our guests are working this morning.

SquigglePigs · 25/12/2022 09:05

We're having beef. We vary it, so some years we have turkey and some years we have something else.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 25/12/2022 09:07

Rib of beef. I realised last year that's it's actually not just that I'm "not that keen" on turkey, I actually really dislike it. But I do fabulous roast beef, roasties, gravy and Yorkshires (and have views on Yorkies being served with non-beef meats), so we're having that instead.

I splashed out on a fancy joint from M&S so have high hopes.
