I've put the presents in piles, I've got a film on but I haven't yet started. I'm going to be here all night. Anyone else?

Get a drink! Don’t try and be neat. I’ve done this a few times. I furnished mine this afternoon…actually that’s not true, I’ve not done extended family yet 😖.

cheeseisthebest · 24/12/2022 21:01

Normally that's me. I did do most of them this afternoon.

stayathomer · 24/12/2022 21:01

Did it a few years, not this year, did it all 2 nights ago. You’ll get there x

whatwasIgoingtosay · 24/12/2022 21:16

I have just sent away for a pack of 30 drawstring Christmas gift bags in various sizes. Too late for this year, but next year, every gift will be stuffed/shoehorned into a bag, the drawstrings pulled tight and sellotape and wrapping paper will be redundant. That's my plan anyway!

serenaisaknobhead · 24/12/2022 21:17

I'm getting ready to wrap. Not quite there yet...

DappledThings · 24/12/2022 21:19

DH did it all a fortnight ago over a couple of nights. Never understood this wrapping on Christmas Eve business.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/12/2022 21:21

Yes! But we've decided to use loads of leftover Amazon Gift bags instead of paper - sooo much quicker!

Heyahun · 24/12/2022 21:22

I never wrap the stuff just set any toys and stuff up In the living room ready to be played with and other stuff I just stuff in either stockings or gift bags

WeepingSomnambulist · 24/12/2022 21:23

I have to do it all. I live in a house with limited storage so I can hide boxes shoved into wardrobes or left in amazon boxes under a blanket at the side of my bed but I cant do that if they're wrapped up as the paper ends up being ripped. So doing it all tonight!! Just getting stuck into Santa's sherry and cookies and then getting started.

Duckskitbank · 24/12/2022 21:23

I love wrapping on Christmas Eve. I have a glass of champagne, some nice chocolates and a crazy baby who won’t sleep stealing the sellotape. It’s very festive.

Kids love unwrapping it's all part of the fun.

FrenchCarolHelp · 24/12/2022 21:34

I've always been all or nothing. Either everything wrapped by October or nothing. I've bought the eco bloody paper, it's stiff and awkward to wrap and the recyclable 'sellotape ' is crap so I've resorted to the original. And it's all brown, I've got lovely ribbon but do not have the time for that!

Glad to hear I'm not alone in the late night wrapping.

I'm about to start, but I'm in a different time zone so it's just past lunchtime here. Loads of time...

lovechickencrisps · 24/12/2022 21:37

I did mine this afternoon. 30 bastard presents. Never again will I leave it till Christmas Eve. Angry

winesolveseverything · 24/12/2022 21:40

Not all of it... but some of it.
And that some of it is still in the loft.
The loft hatch is right outside the children's bedrooms.
With a very noisy ladder.

They are still awake so can't get it now even if I wanted to.

2 of the some of it needs assembly.

Think it's going to be a long night...

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

GettingStuffed · 24/12/2022 21:40

I've done most but realised my flu brain was taking over when I had difficulty cutting the sellotape, then I realised, after too long that I was trying to cut it with a biro.

Just have DD s mountain of books to wrap.

NoNamesLeft234678 · 24/12/2022 21:43

I think I have about 4 more to wrap for ds, ds and dps stocking to fill but not wrap and then just arrange it all with the big unwrapped gifts

reallyworriedjobhunter · 24/12/2022 21:45

The Wrap. My sister rang earlier to ask if I had done the The Wrap yet.

I did it two days ago and it took 2 hours. I put a podcast on and just went for it. Towards the end I got quite messy about it.

I recommend rewarding yourself for every five parcels with a finger of Baileys.

You don't wrap children's toys?!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 24/12/2022 21:50

Yep, me cos each night my kid has bested me for endurance, I've fallen asleep first and it also seems like he's going to best me tonight as well so he'll be having it all unwrapped if he doesn't close his eyes soon.

Blip · 24/12/2022 21:53

I have reusable fabric present bags from Etsy. They are a godsend, wrapping is so quick and easy and doesn't create loads of rubbish afterwards either.

NerdyBird · 24/12/2022 21:54

DH still has to retrieve 2 of DDs presents from the loft and wrap them, and I just have to label all hers. I leave them unlabelled just in case she comes across them as I'm sure the temptation would be too much.
We also have last min cleaning and tidying to do.

Heyahun · 24/12/2022 21:56

No Santa doesn’t wrap!

we set the toys up and they are ready to use - set them up in fun ways (teddy bear riding the bike for example) at the moment we have po set up lying on the dolls changing table we bought with nappies and wipes left out for him to have his bum changed

toy kitchen all set up can be played with immediately

I never had Santa toys wrapped either - never bothered me

Topseyt123 · 24/12/2022 21:57

Leaving it this late was a mistake I sometimes used to make when the DDs were little. I was always furious with myself when I did it as I would then end up wrapping into the small hours with DH also helping. I hated it as a last minute rush.

I did most of ours a couple of days ago and spread it out. I have just finished the last one now. DH has retreated to his study now and is doing his own wrapping. 😃

ChristmasCwtch · 24/12/2022 21:59

That was me 4 years ago frantically wrapping till 11pm Christmas Eve. Never again 🤦🏼‍♀️ Now I’m pretty much done by end November, but the big downside is that I forget what I bought 😂
