I've put the presents in piles, I've got a film on but I haven't yet started. I'm going to be here all night. Anyone else?

Leaving it this late was a mistake I sometimes used to make when the DDs were little. I was always furious with myself when I did it as I would then end up wrapping into the small hours with DH also helping. I hated it as a last minute rush.

I did most of ours a couple of days ago and spread it out. I have just finished the last one now. DH has retreated to his study now and is doing his own wrapping. 😃

I should add that I am relieved that my children are now grown up so it is all less intense.

ScarletWitchM · 24/12/2022 22:06

I always leave till Christmas Eve to wrap, makes it easier to track what I’ve bought and can change stuff if needed. Also don’t like having everything under the tree in case of break in (next door had a break in last year and all presents under tree were robbed)

Oystersandwhelks · 24/12/2022 22:17

Wrapped a couple of days ago but put the Christmas tree up this evening. We've decided to postpone Christmas till Tuesday though.

TerfOnATrain · 24/12/2022 22:20

Nope. You wrap when you buy, and you start to buy September. 😇

Spirini · 24/12/2022 22:24

@Heyahun totally with you, Santa never wraps here. He didn't wrap mine as a child and it never did me any harm!

AlwaysGinPlease · 24/12/2022 22:25

I did mine last night and wished I hadn't left it so long. Next year I have promised I'll be more organized.

@Heyahun each to their own but that's lazy and weird to me. Santa doesn't wrap gifts? 🙄

We've had postponed Christmas in the past, always funny to think we are waking up on Christmas morning when others have had theirs. Hope it is for a nice reason

I'm 1/3 of the way through and it is 10.30pm, really could do with being in a different time zone!

I used to wrap on Christmas Eve but then it was getting to the point I wasn’t getting to bed until about 2 and then they woke us up at 5.30... so last 7/8 years I’ve done it all before hand.

caringcarer · 24/12/2022 23:02

DH and I have wrapped for 3 nights in a row. Still have DH gifts to wrap. He is always around when I want to wrap his stuff. I sent him out for whipping cream this morning expecting it to be heaving and he be gone over an hour but he was back 20 mins later as supermarket almost empty.

LargeglassofRosePlease · 24/12/2022 23:06

Oh I hear you. It’s bollocks isn’t it.

We leave it every year until Christmas Eve but this year my husband has covid so I wrapped up 90 percent of them last night. Shockingly wrapped but still wrapped.
Still have a few bits to wrap for the children now and need to get the stockings put out but cannot currently be arsed.
Having another large baileys and working my way through the quality street for the moment.

LBFseBrom · 24/12/2022 23:16

FrenchCarol, I've just finished and feel triumphant. I had done nothing - or next nothing - a few hours ago. Now I have backache but at least there is one thing I don't have to worry about :-). You'll get there, go girl!

randomsabreuse · 24/12/2022 23:16

Just done one kid's stocking and Santa present, got everything else to do plus detective work to work out what was from who in DH's family as DH is ill in bed and has been all day. Not feeling Christmassy at all but the kids are 4 and 7 so not really on to delay...

Yes also never wrap - everything goes into their pillowcase as is. Saves on a lot of wrapping paper and time. Never occurred to me to do it as we never had them wrapped as children.

FatherTedUncious · 24/12/2022 23:25

Haven't started yet, 3am here I come

FrenchCarolHelp · 24/12/2022 23:39

Well that makes me feel a bit better @FatherTedUncious I'm got at least another hour, probably 2, 3 if I keep coming on here.

Sorry so many of you are unwell, so much going around

Just doing the stockings here. Fingers crossed for a not too early start.

DH did it all a fortnight ago over a couple of nights. Never understood this wrapping on Christmas Eve business.

🥳

Undecidedandtorn · 25/12/2022 00:00

I'm staying at my exs place and he had to take his dad to A and E after a fall and they are still there. So had to wrap all the presents he brought including my own form the kids! Only just finished!

FrenchCarolHelp · 25/12/2022 00:12

Merry Christmas Morning.

We wrap stockings because the whole point for us is to amuse the kids for longer before we all have to get up. It's the family presents that are annoying me as they're all via Amazon so I have to wrap them.

Bah Humbug

SparkyBlue · 25/12/2022 00:17

I never ever wrap Christmas presents from Santa. Just put everything into piles.

thaegumathteth · 25/12/2022 00:27

I had no clue some people don't wrap Christmas presents - it's a whole different world

frozendaisy · 25/12/2022 01:11

We, as in I roped in the husband because he claimed earlier this week "I am a great wrapper", how would we know?

So here we are.

Just finished. I hope. Too late now.

Conclusion: fuck me he uses much more paper than I, looks no different, complains much more. Percentage of presents wrapped, 30% tops.

FatherTedUncious · 25/12/2022 01:11

I've done the kids presents in pillowcases for the last few years and it saves so much time. I'm done now, half way through love actually when last year I watched all of love actually and crazy rich Asians whilst wrapping!

CuteOrangeElephant · 25/12/2022 01:13

I finished wrapping last week but in all my wisdom decided that I just had to finish Dad's quilt. Only just finished now 😭
