Has anyone else got a completely full fridge with no idea what to cook tonight?

We are only having people over tomorrow, so everything is waiting for then. Just realised I’ve not thought about what to cook for tea tonight!

Lay the table for tomorrow now and order a takeaway!

TheOtherHotstepper · 24/12/2022 17:26

I've cooked our gammon today, so slices of gammon with fried egg, Slimming World chips and beans for us, assuming DH returns from the pub as promised

bakalava · 24/12/2022 17:27

😆

Ilovetocrochet · 24/12/2022 17:29

Just got back from a lovely late pub lunch so no plans to eat tonight! Might have cheese and biscuits in a few hours if my visitors are hungry but at the moment we are more likely to go to sleep!

MintJulia · 24/12/2022 17:31

We've had a cheese board, pickles crackers, nice bread, fruit and a glass of fizz.

Everything is wrapped, I've got to make some more mince pies and prep the veg for tomorrow but everything else is done. I've finally relaxed. It's been a bugger of a year and not cooking feels soooo good. 🙂

JaneJeffer · 24/12/2022 17:31

What's occurring? Hanging gardens, labiaplasty? I've lost my appetite.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 24/12/2022 17:32

Yes, hence a trip to the chippy.

To be fair though, I'm about to start preparing veg , pigs in blankets and stuffing for tomorrow ( whilst sampling some festive fizzygood) so I can't be arsed to cook a meal anyway.

NameIsBryceQuinlan · 24/12/2022 17:33

I had cheese and crackers and pigs in blankets. The thirst will be real later 😂

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 24/12/2022 17:36

We had KFC last night and pizza the night before. I think we are saving ourselves up for the big deal tomorrow.

Tonight we have decided on greggs festive bakes from Iceland with oven chips and peas. Was going to do pate and cheese but I think I've hit the cheese peak too early and need a couple of cheese free days.

KirstenBlest · 24/12/2022 17:37

Yes. I've just come back from the supermarket with lots of yellow sticker treats. My menu for tomorrow might depend on what I fancy at the time.

AssumingDirectControl · 24/12/2022 17:41

Yes, we had a McDonalds to avoid creating more washing up!

Tabitha888 · 24/12/2022 17:43

We messed up too takeaway it is 😂😂😂

Susurrar · 24/12/2022 17:47

We normally go out on Christmas Eve for a couple of drinks and dinner (all family friendly, with DS!). It didn’t work out this year, we had to cancel our booking and dinner is just a bunch of different things: sausage rolls, salmon, homemade bread, cold meats and cheese, crackers and baked camembert. Basically free for all, load your plate and leave me alone 😀.

MrsMitford3 · 24/12/2022 17:48

We are going to the pub across the road for dinner.
Table is already laid for christmas lunch-we go out every christmas eve-
it is such a lovely treat and I am on full cooking tomorrow mode without any worry about tonight!

slipperyeel · 24/12/2022 17:49

Need something light this evening, baked potatoes with salad. There’s plenty of cheese if anyone else here finds it too healthy!

Spudlover · 24/12/2022 17:52

I always do a chilli Christmas Eve. With rice, tortillas, cheese, guacamole and sour cream.

VladmirsPoutine · 24/12/2022 17:57

We have so much food I'm half wondering whether to save myself for tomorrow!

lightand · 24/12/2022 17:58

Nope. We always have soup so a light meal before tomorrow.
Amended it a bit of the year to soup and garlic bread, and pizza if required.

lightand · 24/12/2022 17:58

over the years not of

ShaunaTheSheep · 24/12/2022 18:00

I've got a whole crispy duck in the oven , to have with pancakes, sweet and sour chicken, noodles, spring rolls, prawn crackers. House tradition!

ApolloandDaphne · 24/12/2022 18:02

We are having tapas. My DDs are mostly cooking it. DM is walking around staring at the food as it is being prepped with a confused look on her face. She can't get her head around patatas bravas at all!

Weewillywinki · 24/12/2022 18:06

I just served up dippy eggs and soldiers. What more could anyone want?

Wheredoallthepensgo · 24/12/2022 18:20

We are having a simple pasta bake. Other years we have done party food, cheese board with snacks, and fish n chips from the chipper. We usually go out to see friends on Xmas Eve afternoon so make a random decision on our way home what's for dinner and who can be bothered to make anything!

DucklingDaisy · 24/12/2022 18:24

I made a risotto

Teenylittlefella · 24/12/2022 18:36

We always have lentil bake on Christmas Eve and gammon on Boxing day. Prefer these to Christmas lunch tbh!
