What have you got your Dad this year?

I'm after inspiration to go with the York City Walls Treasure Trail I've got mine. It's a circular walk that takes about 2 ish hours & points out various landmarks/buildings of interest sorts of things, while solving a mystery.

I'm a bit stumped what else to get him though 🤔 He likes walking & is into tech, but buys himself what he wants, when he wants 🤷‍♀️

What are you giving your dad? Maybe something will inspire a 💡 moment!

steaks 🥩

My dad mentioned needing a electric blanket as he'd noticed how cold he was getting in bed when he is usually ok so I bought him one and gave him it a few weeks ago. He's moving to Thailand in a few months so is clearing his house so I knew there was nothing else I could really buy for him.

A new hedgehog house (and associated add-ons) for the garden.

It’s a nice one. You can lift the roof to clean the inside.

My dad just took up swimming again after a break so I got him some swim aids from Wiggle, a pullbuoy, flippers etc.

2 bottles of gin and a set of 6 different flavoured tonic waters, a jar of olives and a box of liquorice all-sorts.

I've learnt over the years that the only gifts that get used are consumables so I just stick with that now

McAvennie · 15/12/2022 20:34

Air tags! For his car, wallet and suitcases when travelling

Bunnybunny1 · 15/12/2022 20:47

A good quality man bag- canvas to fit his flask and dog leads. Also a bean sprouter.

JustCleaningtheBBQ · 15/12/2022 20:48

A jumper and a USB charging cable (his choice). Better than last year which was a battery for something or other - it was £100!

thisusernameisnotavailablepleasetryanother · 15/12/2022 20:52

£100 Amazon voucher (that's what he asked for)

thisusernameisnotavailablepleasetryanother · 15/12/2022 20:53

He didn't ask for a £100 I may add. He would only expect £20

Nothing yet! He’s impossible to buy for. I’m hoping the local independent bookshop comes up trumps next week.
what about booking him in for lunch at Betty’s in York?

AlexandraJJ · 16/12/2022 06:49

His fave whiskey and aftershave

KangarooKenny · 16/12/2022 07:03

I make up a hamper of weird foods - like Cullen Skink soup 🤢 - and wine. He appreciates it.

Citygirlrurallife · 16/12/2022 07:04

A box of salmon flies for fishing as he wants to go sea fishing in iceland
a world peas mug (he always says all he wants is world peace)
a book of South Downs walks for us to do together over the next year
print of various ridiculous selfies we’ve taken together over the years (it’s our thing)
prob get him some other fictional book and a bottle of whisky

Fuckitydoodah · 16/12/2022 07:19

A Toblerone

I'd buy more but he is insistent he doesn't want anything and to save our money. He'll be very happy with his Toblerone

twinklystar23 · 16/12/2022 07:23

The huge security costs to the British tax payer for trained royal protection officers to facilitate their half in half out would be an astronomical cost to the british taxpayer. As it would potentially have meant providing this I the US I believe and the flights for the officers to and from the US and overnight accommodation. So why the hell should we pay for their choice? So I think this is essentially the crux of everything. It explains Archie not having g a title (which would come with security)
That H &M will burn through money massively quickly. It explains to some extent the request for protection officers that Harry is taking the government court about. Perhaps they realise they may as well go full throttle in revealing everything. Might explain Meghans point "when the stakes are this high" I was completely lost when they made the claim of being married 3 days before. That tax
Taxpayers stumped up millions for a "spectacle" I find grossly insulting. Then to tar the UK public as racist how dare they make such lib

twinklystar23 · 16/12/2022 07:24

*libellous claims.

Personally I'd like them to refund the money for the spectacle, in 2018. To a more deserving cause.
