What time do you arrive?
Just wondering. It’s at the person’s home, in case that makes a difference.

7.40

PAFMO · 08/12/2022 14:35

Between 7.30 and 7.45

Username6194 · 08/12/2022 14:36

Depends who it is. Close family/friends. 730.

Distant friends/work colleague. 830.

ChessieDarling · 08/12/2022 14:37

7:40 ish.

BusySittingDown · 08/12/2022 14:43

7.30.

I'm a loser and I'm usually one of the first to arrive at parties 😂.

Yepy · 08/12/2022 14:46

Interesting and helpful as I was thinking 7.40-45

8.30?! Though I guess if you don’t wan5 to go but feel obligated it would be one way to make the evening shorter I suppose.
7.30 used to be me because I felt sorry for the people waiting for guests to arrive and someone has to be first so would just do it.

It also depends whose party it is and who is attending.

If it's a friend who has invited a lot of people that I don't know I will be on time as I hate walking into a room full of strangers. I like to be introduced to people as they arrive and then usually we're all best mates by the end of the night!

FleasNavidad · 08/12/2022 14:48

7.30

purplecorkheart · 08/12/2022 14:49

What is it for? Drinks and nibble or a sit down meal?

I must admit I would arrive at 7.30 (most likely having walked around the neighbourhood or parked up the road for about twenty minutes as I get anxious at the thought of being late).

SnackyOnassis · 08/12/2022 14:53

Depends on the engagement; if it's a party-party with lots of people attending, maybe closer to about 8. If it's a dinner party, promptly.

Swampthing55 · 08/12/2022 15:02

8f it's a house party then probably after the pubs close so about 11pm for example on new years eve. If it's a meal then I would be 7.30

gogohmm · 08/12/2022 15:08

7.40/7.45 but I'm a terror for being early Blush

pinneddownbytabbies · 08/12/2022 15:11

If the invitation says 7.30 then it is more likely to be for a meal than just a get-together with drinks and nibbles, so by about 7.45 would be about right. No later though, there's nothing worse than cooking a meal and finding your guests' late arrival is throwing your timings off.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I would not be impressed if I invited someone for 7.30 and they didn't turn up until 11 pm Grin

DinosaurOfFire · 08/12/2022 15:29

@SoftSheen I'm with you and I wouldn't class myself as old! Mid 30s, some of my friends would be heading home or already gone by 11 and we would be in the chilled out, chatty, playing a silly boardgame stage with our closest friends who would probably hang around till 11.30 then go home! Arriving at 11 would mean I'd be telling you the party was pretty much over and you missed it.

Same here!

pigonalipstick · 08/12/2022 15:30

If its a party, a bit after 8.

If it's dinner, 7.30

If its a small gathering, 7.30-7.45

RuthW · 08/12/2022 15:33

7.30

KillingLoneliness · 08/12/2022 15:35

7:30, I’ve never understood why people arrive late.

FleasNavidad · 08/12/2022 15:38

11? Wtf. That's so rude. You're basically saying there's nowhere else open so I've come here.

bananaboats · 08/12/2022 15:42

Depends on the occasion, a meal or small group of friends getting together 7.30-7.45. If it's a bigger party prob 8 or after

NotToBeShaked · 08/12/2022 15:45

If it says 7.30pm then that's when I'll get there. If it say from 7.30pm then around 7.45pm.

Oysterbabe · 08/12/2022 15:46

Just me then 7:30. If with DH then 8. We're always late for stuff if he's involved in anyway.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/12/2022 15:48

8pm if casual
7.45 for dinner

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/12/2022 15:50

IMO if people are entertaining at home, the unwritten rules are different than for meeting elsewhere. You give a short 10-15min grace period for your host to deal with any last-minute tidying up/kitchen mishaps etc.
