Hardly got anything to wrap for him, it’s all money towards a car so wouldn’t mind getting him some. He’s had a couple of the architecture sets. Need something challenging and ideally under £40. Any ideas appreciated 😬

could you stretch to 44.99?

Tempted by it for my 16year old car mad DS!

What’s his interests?

Dd loves cherry blossom trees so I got her the cherry blossom Lego set. She sent me a photo of it a while ago because she lived it and she isn’t even into Lego really.

Lovemusic33 · 06/12/2022 15:56

Dd has many Lego sets and Lego technics and is getting the big F1 car for Christmas as her main gift. But this is also one of her favourites…

ooooh WhSmith have the Porsche for 34.99 - bought....!

shreddies · 06/12/2022 16:05

That's funny, my 16 yo DS said the same, not having had any for years!

HedgehogB · 06/12/2022 16:09

DSD always loved Lego , used to play loads until she was 16? With DS using his age (8) as an excuse to carry on I think …. and said she’d been looking at it again this year wishing she could have some. She’s 25 lol. She loves plants so she’s getting the Lego bonsai

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 06/12/2022 16:19

How about nanoblocks? Smaller version of lego and way more challenging than regular lego.

DarkMatternix · 06/12/2022 16:19

This tiger is a good build and you can rebuild as a red panda and a koi too.

DarkMatternix · 06/12/2022 16:21

I'd be super disappointed if I asked for Lego and got nanoblocks

Bogglebrain · 06/12/2022 16:21

I’ve just bought my DD17 the Friends (tv series) Central perk set. £50 from Amazon.

Bogglebrain · 06/12/2022 16:24

Sorry, that’s not under £40!

Needmorelego · 06/12/2022 16:26

Was he into Lego before ? Did he have a favourite theme? You could go for nostalgia and get a Ninjago/Star Wars/City set.
Some of the Creator 3 in 1 sets are great.
At lot of the '18+' sets are actually fairly dull builds because they are display items.
Speed Champions are good if he likes cars.

So would I . The Christmas tree is under £40 and the city sets are about that price as well .

Cookerhood · 06/12/2022 16:44

DS (20) is thrilled to bits if I buy him Lego. Star Wars in particular.

yoshiblue · 06/12/2022 16:57

The Star Wars/Mandolorian/Batman helmets look cool - between £45 - £60
Harry Potter themed?
Bonsai tree
Technic car

User1274838 · 06/12/2022 16:58

Yes I don’t blame him for wanting some Lego it’s all the rage lately 😳

DarkMatternix · 06/12/2022 17:00

The bonsai tree set and flowers are nice but I think the creator 3 in 1 sets are better builds.

SunshineInCorwall · 06/12/2022 17:08

Harry Potter - Hedwig, Phoenix or Dragon sets. 50% technic lego - 50% Fun.

Stompythedinosaur · 06/12/2022 17:20

There's a Lego architecture set of the London skyline for about £35 which I think is quite nice.

nicky2512 · 06/12/2022 17:38

I want some too for ds but torn between the London skyline and the Christmas tree. He got the shoe last year.

frozendaisy · 06/12/2022 17:56

Not much Lego for under £40 but if you can stretch look at Lego technic it's for the older builder

ElfDragon · 06/12/2022 18:37

If you’re after Lego, check out brickset and have a browse about, as it has a section where all discounts are listed (and a whole lot of other information!)

Needmorelego · 06/12/2022 19:04

@frozendaisy there's 100's of Lego sets under £40 !

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/12/2022 20:09

As a PPs suggested, the Star Wars helmet heads or Harry Potter hedwig/Phoenix etc. all fun builds.

Diddydog · 07/12/2022 08:24

Thanks all for the fab ideas. I’m going to get him the Lego New York architecture. 😁
