A thread to show your decorations.

If you don’t like what someone has done then just keep it to yourself.

We've had a complete change this year.

Show off yours!

I know you said non judgemental and they are beautiful. But it's November. Big fat no from me.

PriamFarrl · 26/11/2022 18:26

But it’ll be December in the week. Lots of people near us have them up already. I also posted on the Christmas page for just this reason.

@luckylavender this is Christmas board!

Looks lovely, OP. Where did you get your tree from? 😊

Yet you're on the Christmas board? 🤔

It's the last weekend before Dec so it's all go go go! OP are we allowed to comment that yours are beautiful? 🤪

IsThisIt2021 · 26/11/2022 18:33

I haven’t got my tree up yet, but I do have lights around the mantel. Love your tree OP

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 26/11/2022 18:35

Beautiful!

I’ve broken my own rule and put a string of lights on the staircase tonight, so no judgement from me - it’s so hyggelig and it really doesn’t matter that it’s one day too early; tomorrow Advent starts which is when I put out the first few things.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 26/11/2022 18:42

Pretty!

I like it

PriamFarrl · 26/11/2022 18:50

Thank you for the kind comments. The tree is from John Lewis. It’s new this year. We always had a traditional one before.

Anyone else want to show off theirs?

Very first post in and the 'its November' brigade are out. Do you not realise this is the Christmas board 😂

They are really pretty, I especially love the tree. Colours are lovely.

Small snapshot of mine. After finally getting my grubby mitts on my Great Grandmothers glass baubles last year (can see 3 of them on here) I changed theme. I call it “whatever the fuck I want” Grin

I love the classic ones with the ‘dimples’ in them (I don’t know how else to describe it).

I don't know what all the fuss is about this year, people talking about 70's and 80's decs. Traditional and old.

I love that Father Christmas one! Is it a vintage one CottageEmo?

ChristmasPickleRick · 27/11/2022 14:58

@Margepettifer I got it this year, I think it was from John Lewis Grin

Margepettifer · 27/11/2022 16:00

Thank you! I shall get myself down to JL! X😁

All the talk of TEOTWAWKI and sustainability (as well as the financial situation) has made people think about re-using stuff

The war, energy bills, climate crisis, culture wars and so forth are making people think fondly of what they see of a simpler time, frequently when they themselves were young and unburdened

merryhouse · 27/11/2022 16:14

(as, dammit)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/11/2022 18:57

All the talk of TEOTWAWKI

I had to go and listen to that song Xmas Grin

Christmas decorations do go through fashions - I look in the shops and think "Oh I don't like that" but everyone has different tastes and I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't like mine .
I know our cats are very judgey so we don't have a tree now Xmas Shock

BiscuitLover3678 · 27/11/2022 18:59

What a great thread. Please show more! I need some inspiration.

OhIWishItCouldBeChristmas · 27/11/2022 19:04

I did this in my living room rather than a tree this year then put my tree up in a different corner and I love it.

The igloo cost about £20 and I had all the penguins anyway.

The kids did ours this weekend. There's a lovely cosy feeling about the place now.

We decided to get a second tree the same as our first one. It’s a lot I know but our old one was 25 years old.

Love it! Xmas Grin What a fantastic idea. Did you come up with it yourself?

I did indeed.

I usually come up with some sort of excessive craft project and go OTT, this one is definitely my favourite though.

Its just a cardboard igloo from hobbycraft, I think it was £18, painted the ice blocks on, cut the fake snow on top (that cost £2 or £3) and then stuck a disco light I had inside it and put the penguins around it.

I'll be sad when I have to take it down, but I'm working on a massive Audry 2 from Little Shop Of Horrors which might go there if it turns out OK. I'm doing a film theme in the living room next year. Goodness knows what's going to happen next Christmas 🤣 I have an idea though

PriamFarrl · 27/11/2022 21:22

I love the igloo. How big is it? It’s hard to judge the scale.
