Wow ill be honest these lists are quite modest. Do you just not buy everything your kids want to whittle it down a bit or do they not ask for loads and loads?

They get other stuff from grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.

Puddywoodycat · 22/11/2022 06:25

Just 10 year old : cat crimes card game. Sleeping queen's 2 the rescue. Bubble tea making kit: posca pens: cat's cradle: possibly a Lego kit!! She's suddenly got back into it: micro fibre hair wrap: har brush: craft kits: slime; clothes.

No big present this year and she won't get anything from anyone else. Also for fun I thought about buying dress up Wigs.

Older dd pretty much same plus money for a school trip.

Maybe 2 thing's depending on costs and surprise presents!

God no, I don't buy everything on their lists. My DS usually has a very small but expensive list, my older DD has a list as long as my arm and usually full of tat. It definitely needs whittling and I always ask her to prioritise things because she knows she's not getting it all. There are other additional gifts from grandparents x2 and aunts and uncle though. I'm not sure I would agree the lists on this thread are modest...they look plenty to me! Lucky kids!

Hooverphobe · 22/11/2022 07:36

Yeh no to buying “everything” from their list. Because that would include: quad, boat, pony… 😂

We’ve been lucky enough to have a change in finances this year so they’re pretty well stocked.

presents include (12 and 11): grown-up man’s watch, new fishing rod + lures, code book, fine-liners, pants, jammies, puzzle cube - that I can remember. I’ve been stashing stuff in my wardrobe that they’ve probably already found.

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 22/11/2022 07:47

@meowzeer is that a joke? I thought these lists are massive. My DC1 has asked for one thing and doesn’t write lists, I am not spending £££ on plastic tat for the sake of it. Of course she gets more than one thing, but we also go to panto, do other trips, have holidays etc. I don’t think she is missing out if she doesn’t get a stocking full of poundshop crap that clutters the house.

Tothepoint99 · 22/11/2022 07:49

Great thread. Thanks for the inspiration!

ThreeRingCircus · 22/11/2022 07:49

Almost finished shopping for the DC and they will have:

DD1 age 5

Playmobil horse box and horses
Schleich unicorn
Bluey pyjamas
Harry Potter onesie
Sho water bottle with butterfly pattern
Unicorn Squishmallow

And a shared present of the Hobbycraft colour in and play shop with her sister.

DD2 age 3

The shared Hobbycraft shop
Playmobil carry along dolls house
Schleich pegasus
Ben and Holly pyjamas
Peppa Pig onesie
Sho water bottle with jungle animal pattern
Cat squishmallow

Both of their stockings contain the same type of items which are:

Temporary tattoos
Stickers
Crayons and a little notebook
Glittery hair clips
Playmobil blind bag
Gingerbread
Bottle of interesting juice (guava this year)
A teddy
Frozen themed electric toothbrush

ThreeRingCircus · 22/11/2022 07:56

And DDs are little so they don't write lists but even if they did I wouldn't be buying everything on their list. I've said they can give ideas or suggestions of things they'd like but it's just a guide for Father Christmas so he knows the sort of things they like.

I try to keep a limit on how many things I buy them and buy two or three new toys plus some upgraded things like pyjamas but with their favourite character on.....plus their stockings. DH and I both have big families and I've just totalled up that DDs will both be bought presents by 16 other aunts/uncles/grandparents etc so if I also bought them loads of stuff they would be totally overwhelmed.

carbedup · 22/11/2022 07:58

I'm finished for my boys!

DC1 - 5yo boy

  • sonic lego (santa present)
  • pirate ship &accessories
  • sonic onesie
-star wars drawstring bag with grogu toy, water bottle darth vader figurr
  • pirate sleeping bag
-couple of tonies -sonic puzzle

DC2 - 2yo boy

-hot wheels mega garage (present from santa)
-hot wheels cars
-bath toy boat with cars
-toystory backpack
-couple of tonies
-mickey mouse pjs
-couple of lift the flap books

Looks like my eldest has more than my youngest, but the garage alone was £95! Whereaa the lego was a right bargain at £52.

I've gone completely overboard with their stockings, I really need to stop getting them things!

FilthyforFirth · 22/11/2022 08:36

Oh and no, DS1 doesnt get everything from his list, that is madness! I dont want him to know what he is getting or be spoilt.

I tell him he has to out several things on his list and santa picks the one he thinks he will like the best. Santa likes it to be a surprise on Christmas morning!

Everydaywheniwakeup · 22/11/2022 08:37

I miss toy buying 😢
DD 17 has got Reading tickets. Perfume, dvd, nail polish, t-shirt and keyring in stocking. Need another couple of bits, just need to figure out what they will be.

I look at the Christmas lists though only 1 of my 3 is old enough to properly write and consider a Christmas list Smile

I have got DD the majority of what's on her list plus a couple of extra surprises that I want her to have, then a further combination of items she has asked for and things I want her to have, have been doled out to relatives. The 5 year old has only asked for a couple of things but he has just had a birthday so that does make a difference. I know what the 3 year old loves and am very happy with his list Grin

We only have a small number of immediate family buying for our DC, and don't do random gift buying in our family, relatives ask the parents of DC what they want them to buy for the DC. So I simply send items off the list I have made for them to buy!

Dreamwhisper · 22/11/2022 09:18

Oh and to answer the question about getting them everything off the list, I wouldn't aim for this as I did that last year and it was a mistake. And no they don't write reams and reams of things on their list either even when given absolutely free rein.

DD puts lots of different iterations of similar things on her list, e.g. she's written down 3 different types of nerf gun and asked for 5 different dolls last year, and she got them all and hasn't really played with them Sad

She will be getting a nerf gun but not 3! (The Minecraft nerf bow to be precise)

These lists all sound awesome btw. I had never heard of the Goo Goo Galaxy I think I will replace an art set that I missed off my list here with that for DD, or the other slime making kit!

My DCs are limited to 2 presents from Santa and 1-2 from us, that way they are not asking for lots of things we would never be able to buy. Everything else we get is extra from us or Santa.

They were all the rage a few years ago. My oldest DD has one which my youngest is obsessed with and asked Santa for one. I found it a lot harder to find this year and definitely more expensive.

RobinRobinMouse · 22/11/2022 17:09

Anything from us is from Father Christmas.

Main:
Trampoline
Sylvanian school and family (second hand but something to unwrap so she doesn't realize she's also getting the trampoline until later when we take her out to it.)

Stocking:
Socks
Bath bomb
2 books (1 normal, 1 busy book)
Lol suprise ball
Stacking game
Aqua bead set
Dino painting set
Doll outfit
Squishmallow
Chocolates

It feels like quite a lot this year, but she is so enthusiastic about things and she plays with everything.
