Not a bargain as such but was just having a chat with Ds and his mates aged 18-19 about what to buy for an 18 year old care leaver for an annual appeal and they all said that these are “mint” and give hours of fun. One of them said his 6 year old little brother loves them too

Moon balls are great! I bought some in the John Lewis sale earlier in the summer if anyone else is avoiding Amazon. VERY springy so best used outside away from anything delicate but popular from age 2+.

If you’re near to the south coast Brittany Ferries have a day trip ( 29 hours in France ) for £24 quid . You need to phone to book.
France day trip £24

@WhyDoesItAlwaysinfuriatingly, dairy is no longer permitted after Brexit so you can no longer bring cheese over; alcohol within duty free limits.
They do check, unfortunately.

butterflymum · 16/11/2022 00:34

How odd...just noticed Mumsnet have added a 'you might also like' section below thread, and included in list is one of last year's threads - number 13. Don't think any of bargains from that are likely to still be around 😂. It only caught my attention as this current thread is number 11.

Thread 11 - the one where we don’t know why they’re selling oldies so cheap
lightisnotwhite · 16/11/2022 00:51

@Tinitiny Of course you can bring dairy back! Just not from non EU countries.
You can also bring tobacco back which is very much cheaper than the U.K. 18 litres of wine ( 9 if it’s fizz)m 4 litres of spirts and 48 litres of beer . Each.
Thats probably enough for most peoples Christmas needs.

You can’t take dairy into France from the UK any more, I think that’s where the confusion comes from. It’s a big topic on Disneyland Paris groups!

Is it worth waiting for Black Friday?
Do discounts stack, does anyone know?

BloodyMabel · 16/11/2022 01:23

@BambiBambi44 They don’t let you stack offers but they usually do a lot of Black Friday offers, think it may be one a day for a week.

I’m sure they did a discounted box with an extra bottle of gin last year.

Excellent, I’ll wait and see for Black Friday. Thank you :)

lightisnotwhite · 16/11/2022 01:29

@BloodyMabel Yeah I know.

The rather supercilious “after Brexit” tone of Tinitiny incorrect post that annoyed me.
I love these Christmas threads because it’s peace and love and posters helping each other out.

BloodyMabel · 16/11/2022 01:35

@BambiBambi44 just checked, Black Friday deals start Monday! If you sign up to the newsletter they send you the deal each day then you can pick when to buy.

Yeah it’s not a place for politics, no peace and love there!

Still I have now realised I broke this law many times bringing stuff back from outside the EU, just didn’t even cross my mind. Confused

@purplehairtroll @BambiBambi44 I saw them at the weekend - I think they were £8. One choc, one sweets. They are very small hampers but probably still good value for US choc…

Best before dates on mine are 24-Aug-23

Puffalicious · 16/11/2022 07:26

Thanks for the moon ball and Melissa and Doug deals..

I bit the bullet and ordered DS3 his TV. Went for Curry's as I reckon if it does tumble in price over Black Friday there or anywhere else I can return it easily, and it's really nearby for collection - don't want that arriving at the house randomly for little eyes to see!
